  1. email sent to her asking how she and "skippy" are doing.
  2. you can run the 285 turbo on a 237, but it will run much better if you turn the fuel up a bit.
  3. Yup, 6 reverse. Really freaks dump spotters out to see a dump truck coming at them 45 mph in reverse.
  4. Old company had a rod come out the block and take #2injector with it. New engine installed, and 10,000 miles later something inside broke and spit #2and#3 injectors off the block. Next new engine popped with less than 15,000 miles. Replacd driver with #4 engine and no more issues.
  5. back when i ran the "mud stick" if i had a heavy load on an uphill start, i would do 1-2-3 low then 2-3-4-5 high the split from 3 low to 2 high would give me a little more than a half gear to get some speed going. i did this mostly with the low boy which had a 237 and mud stick in that 79 DM-800. truck has a top speed of 52 MPH it also had 14-24 tires on it. tandem tractor and three axle trailer. but anything over around 40 MPH was scary being 10.5 foot wide with a 25 foot long deck i was legal for around 215,000 lbs. truck empty weighed 78,000 lbs. with a machine on i would very rarely go over 25 mph. mostly hauled a 135 cat excavator and D8H or D8-K with that rig.
  6. unfortunately there are WAY TOO MANY people without two living brain cells to rub together that believe not only did pedo joe win, but is also doing a good job and has the best plans to take America forward.
  7. the dog would be better company anyway
  8. at $181.23 for a 16 pound bird, it can sit on the store shelf and rot. i will do a pork butt on the smoker instead.
  9. nothing wrong with the mustink engine. it is all the garbage on top of it. no need for three blowers. one that works will probably produce more boost than those three. and turbos...
  10. at home sitting in your recliner going through picture of events past??? 🤣
  11. my new T880 can in yesterday.
  12. because the sand will get in places it will be almost impossible to get out of, just like blasting a car. and than 6 months later you will be cooking something and still have sand grains showing up in the food. walnut shells, baking soda, or even dry ice as 70mackmb said will not have any effect of food days, or even months later.
  13. outside you can use almost anything. it is inside that counts.
  14. baking soda is use by itself. "soda blasting" uses baking soda. very fine and does not cause warping due to heat. plus it will wash off and not leave residue like sand will.
  15. no, i meant blast then with baking soda or walnut shells.
  16. Joey, use something non aggressive like baking soda, or walnut shells.
  17. here in Jersey they send a letter the state is not in receipt of a current med certificate about two weeks after it expires. you then have 6 months to produce a new card to the state, if you do not produce a new one after 6 months, they demote you to a class "D" which is passenger vehicle only.
  18. under 26,000 registered gross weight can be driver without a Commercial Drivers License
  19. i never go more than 100 miles from home base so do not need to run a log. the new truck came with an elog built into it. i told them to disable it as i do not need it. dealer refused. so i deleted it from the computer when i got it home.
  20. i am not quite as old as a few of you, but close at 67. i was fine until i had my left knee replaced 8 years ago. it was after that i realized i can not get up from the ground without some type of assistance...like a truck bumper to pull myself up with. than after having the right shoulder rebuilt 6 years ago after snapping the tendon that runs across the top of it i am extremely limited as to what i can do. my hips and right knee are shot too, but i am afraid to get them replaced as each surgery causes more limitations on movement. so limited in fact i now need handicap plates on the car as i can only walk around 150 feet or stand around 15-25 minutes before having to sit down for 10-15 minutes or so. plus the arthritis in all joints makes pulling wrenches hard any more. i have the willingness to get out there and do things, but once i try my body says no you dont!!!
  21. same here Larry. by the time i get the old body ready to go out and do anything, i have to sit down. than once down find it very hard to get back up.
  22. the new driver got spot checked at the southern inspection station this morning. the only thing the found was a slight flat spot on 2 of the 4 trailer lift axle tires, and his medical card expired last week. when he pulled onto the job with the written report and no tickets, i called and ordered 4 tires to be delivered to the job and installed.
  23. here in jersey the scale on 287 north in piscataway is usually open during the day. A LOT of trucks go around it. especially the ones that should not be on the road. so the troopers took over a closed down business along the road the trucks were using to avoid the scale when the sign said scale open. and besides getting a full white glove inspection, they also got tickets for avoiding the scale. i got off the exit before the scale once around 10-11 years ago with sign lit up and turned left instead right like most did. a trooper saw me and flipped around and came after me. just as he caught up to me i pulled into a company. he followed me and demanded i go to the scale and said i was getting a ticket for bypassing the scale. i told him to go inside the company and tell the owner i would not be getting loaded as he was forcing me to leave and go to the scale. that did not make him happy, but he realized i had him. 15 minutes later i was pulling over the scale loaded. he say me and came out apologizing, and also to tell me i was 0nly 71,000 lbs when i was registered for80. i than explained to him i was paid by the hour and not by the ton or load, and i kept my truck clean and maintained and NEVER went around scales or inspection stations. i have full maintenance records in the trucks, and also the inspection records from the few times i was inspected by troopers where nothing was found wrong. most of the troopers know our trucks and company, and just wave up past now.
