  2. 16V92 in nothing against the 16V149. you can hear one of them under load from damn near a mile away!!!
  3. so true on closer to the end of the journey than the beginning Paul. of the 8 of us growing up there are only 2 left. everyone knew if you wanted to find one of us, just look for the one of the others. the rest of us were not far away.
  4. they ran autocars back in the 60's and 70's. i started pulling out of kingston in 75. i think they switched to the DM's around 79 or 80 yellow with black fenders and lettering. the switcher may still be in the back of the quarry. it used to be out front with all the rest of the machinery, but i would imagine it was all run out back to the maintenance shop after the shut down day to day operations.
  5. i like the "little" lift block on the pickup plate of the gooseneck.
  6. pepsi here ordered 100 electric T680 tractors to replace their diesel fleet for the terminal 2 miles from our local Paccar dealer. took delivery of the first 10 and canceled the rest of the order. and within 2 months those 10 trucks were returned to Paccar and unusable. they were down more than they were running, and had less than 1/2 the range promised.
  7. about 10 years ago the Trap Rock quarry on rt29 in Lambertville NJ still had the Mack locomotive in use shuttling rail cars inside the quarry. when the quarry closed the railroad stopped maintaining the bridge over the canal, and last time i was up there 2 years ago the bridge had been removed. but i did not see if the locomotive was still inside the quarry. i just checked on google maps and do not see it or any of the stone stockpiles that used to be there. they also had a Cat D-8 locomotive in the Kingston quarry. but that has been gone for at least 20 years.
  8. no, i do not, i did mostly central and south jersey work until around 20 years ago. Whippany is around 50 miles north of me.
  9. there are at least a dozen brockways on bookface marketplace within around 100 miles from me .some in good condition too.
  10. it is allowed. Bob started this thread and he was the one that threw the switch to the off topic track.
  11. same here Joey. i am recuperating from a bout of walking pneumonia AND bronchitis. been down since last tuesday.
  12. Bob, look on craigs list in your are for a 10- 15KW onan or kohler made in the 80's. also on auction sites. you kan pick up a very good unit that is being age replaced with no hours on it usually for under $1,000. the 15.0 JC onan natural gas came from ocean beach md fire department. had a little over 400 hours on it when i got it for $762. firehouse was knocked down and rebuilt, and a new generator was included in the price. the 17.5 RDJF is a water cooled diesel with 43 hours on it. this one was a little more expensive at $1300, but it was also delivered and came with a brand new battery, new 80 gallon fuel tank, and an onan battery charger/maintainer came from a bergen county sewer pumping station. it was never used as a power source, just run for 3-5 minutes every month to make sure it still ran. . same thing as the 15.0 JC, it was replaced due to age.
  13. Bob, i have a filter, i just dont use it unless little ones are around.
  14. mehhh. my head is full of useless info stuffed into it over many many many years...... maybe that explains my address?
  15. proper way would be to strip that section of frame, v notch both sides of the crack, then weld it on both sides. once welded find an inner frame section to bolt over the weld with plenty of extra on each side of the weld. then fish plate the outer side of the frame.
  16. when i used the 10KW i had a double male plug that i ran from the generator to the welder outlet in the garage to back feed the power panel. which is illegal, but many people do it. reason it is illegal is because people forget to turn the power panel main off before plugging the generator in. if you dont turn the main of, the generator will try to power everyone on that line, overload, and burn up. also when the power does come back on, it can overload the generator and burn it up. i now have an automatic transfer switch that switches the power from public line to generator withing 30 seconds of power outage. then when power comes back on, it senses it and turns the generator off and switches back to public lines.
  17. building 4, room 417 fourth floor.🤪
  18. yea buddy!! that is almost exactly the same as the first low boy tractor i ran. only difference is the engine, the one i ran had a 350 small cam.
  19. refresh my memory on what you talking about.. remember, i am old and senile..
  20. we never had a fire, but a few times i would be up in the hay loft and see steam coming out of the bales and it would be 20-30 degrees hotter on top of that area. then it was a rush to get a crew up there to start rearranging the bales to find the problem spot and throw those bales outside to get rid of them.
  21. same here in joisey Brocky. only raked and baled in late afternoon after a full day of sun drying it out. then straight to the barn. i remember when i was around 10 dad was the fire chief and a guy raked, baled, and stacked out in the field early morning to pick up later. well, it sat out in that field uncovered for around 3 weeks before it caught on fire from the inside. he had to hire a large excavator to rip the pile open to put the fire out..... it burned for 4-5 days before they finally got it all out. he lost something like 1,000 bales. 4 years later the same guy cleared another field and chipped all the trees into a large pile in the middle of the field. same thing. dad by now was town fire marshal and gave the guy a few tickets to get rid of the pile, or the town would and charge him for it. never got that far as it too caught on fore from the inside and he had to hire the large excavator again to tear it apart. that one too 4-5 days 4-5 days to put out.
  22. nope, it had a video of the engine running.
  23. years ago there was a video on youtube of a LTL with V8 engine pulling i think a dozer up a mountain dirt road.
