i was always a fan of the galaxy radios. i had a 959, then moved up to the DX88. but the new overheads need a front port mike, so the galaxy was out. my radio guy said the connex was the next best thing to the galaxy 88, so i picked it up 6 years ago. only thing i do not like about it is there is no frequency meter, so it is kind of hard to know what channel you are on without an external frequency meter.

Age should not nake any difference. Antenna and power source are usually the culprits. The cobra 29 classic in the other truck died. So I put an old 23 channel ssb sidebander 2 in it until I could get a new radio. The boss loves it and asked if he could buy it. It sat on the shelf better part if 30 years also and still out performs the connex CX33HPC-1 10 meter radio I have in my truck

Speaker would fit up there though, and be easier to hear.

i have not noticed much of a difference between the 1200 and 1100 tires other than weight capacity

Problem with Hooking up to the battery is you have to remember to turn the radio off, or it can kill the battery if sitting a while The reason they say to hook to battery is some of the bigger radios use up to 20 amp draw. And most fusebox circuits are only under 10 amps. I hook to the battery through a 30 amp relay that is triggered to a key on power source.

that one is easy to answer....they are dumber than a box of rocks. dimmer than a three watt light bulb in a power failure. their elevators do not go to the top floor. have the intelligence of a dead flea... i am sure you get the idea.

could be. it has been over 30 years since i used soda blasting, and don't remember much other than it is a lot less abrasive than sand, so does not build up as much heat for less panel distortion. there was also a guy that was doing dry ice blasting. that worked real good, but was expensive. it also left no residue except for the paint dust it blew off

i never had any issue with it. they would blast in the sand blasting pit out behind the shop. than blow out and wipe down everything before the guys pulled it back up the hill and into the paint booth to prime to prevent surface rust. then it would go into the body shop for repair.

my opinion is if god wanted the leaves picked up and put out to trash, he would make then fall in the bags and bins at the curb. back in the 60's we had perfect green lawns without any chemicals or fertilizers applied, because we let the leaves fall where they did and rot. now people pick them up before they can deteriorate and spend a small fortune trying to grow grass.

baking soda as a medium instead of sand. it is called "soda blasting"

We had a 65 or 66 diamond reo with 350 cummins and 13 speed for lowboy. But it had Itty bitty rears and was constantly snapping through shafts. Plus it was rode hard and put away wet every day for the 15years before I got into it and the cab was held together with bubble gum and bailing wire.

i used to use a guy that used baking soda. worked great. another shop i did a lot of work with used dustless blasting. it was a liquid based product.

early 79 i was still driving the 49 international L190. then i bought a not running 73 gran prix for $250 did a tuneup on it and it ran perfect. bought the F350 in december.

tired me out too!! 🤣 yup, hood was down. i am thinking a buildup of gas in the battery, and bad negative cable connection. when i called for power the negative connection sparked and BOOM. today changed battery and bound the bad connection. loaded two loads of garbage, and another 1000 lbs or so of scrap iron. waiting for a ride to take two trucks to the big truck yard, then bring the dump and trailer home to get rid of the machine.
