  1. i am glad you got to talk to the previous owner and did not get taken by that dealer.
  2. egr cooler is good for around 80 to 100k miles. when they degrade they start seeping coolant into the EGR circuit, and it then gets sooted up. people either replace the EGR valve, or clean the cooler. but that is a bandaid. if the cooler is sooted, it is leaking and needs to be changed. unfortunately when you ignore the cause of the symptoms and do a "quick fix" eventually the cooler fails and then you are knee deep in a slop pond. and that slop pond is usually 500 miles from anywhere, so the tow bill is gonna be almost what the truck is worth. i am not up on the 6.0 turbo other than sometimes the vanes will "stick" but like i said, i am not up on them so do not know what causes that.
  3. I would never ever delete anything on a 6.0 leave it stock and take care of it. We had 46 of them at the other job, all with over 500,000 miles on them. All also pure stock.
  4. the problem with the oil and egr coolers is they start leaking and the drivers ignore it. until it fails. if maintained properly they last damn near forever. only thing i do not like on that rig is the ESOF or as i call it "soccer mom" 4X4. they are problematic. i prefer manual shift 4X4
  5. 2 wheel drive, or 4 wheel drive? the 6.0 is a very good engine if maintained and not hot rodded. pay attention to it, and it will last damn near forever. a very good place for ford diesels is https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/index.php
  6. guys, lets keep it clean. no foul language please.
  7. i am kind of partial to whiskey marinated BBQ ribs.
  8. wow. here in New Jersey tandem dumps are legal with 20 ton. my single axle is legal with 14 ton!!
  9. my bet is you will be looking at just around 31,000 empty box full of fuel.
  10. back in the good old days, we never realized how hard it was not having power steering, air conditioning, or heat. the lack of those items kept us in shape. i remember many a time having the truck in the lowest gear possible, and standing up in the cab to get a better grip on the steering wheel for more leverage to turn the wheels.
  11. between $5,000 and $20,000. hard to say really, because something for sale is only worth what the buyer is willing to pay and the seller is willing to sell for. i saw a guy pay $110,000 for a buick grand national because he HAD TO HAVE IT. it was not for sale. but he had to have it and when his offer hit 110 grand, he was told sold. on the same lines, i bought a 97 Ford F-350 4X4 diesel for $400. all it needed was tires and two fuel tanks.
  12. just wait to see how much biden spends. you think trump and obummer waisted money? you aint seen nothin yet.
  13. i like the name: "the last one"
  14. very carefully ya silly wabbit!!!!
  15. 9.34 gears and a quad box??? around 50 mph.
  16. it is all in the way the parents raised them. as friends, they are lazy punks. as parents- children, they become respectable members of society.
  17. yea. like 13 kv
  18. yup, what Terry said. some people like short cab shields, some like full shields. then there are some who do not run anything at all. front wall of the bed comes up, and just stops. 😵 i prefer full shield. it not only protects the paint, but also me if anything is dropped near the cab.
  19. you mean other than everyone walking around wearing black pajamas, speaking chinese, and eating with chopsticks?
  20. in winter 76/77 we had a BAD fire in a welfare apartment complex. lost 3 buildings with 24 units in each. i did not know i had pinholes in my boots, and gloves. well, my boots and gloves filled up with water. we were so damn cold i never knew..... until i went to take them off and the outside next to the gloves and boots was frozen. i have had issues with my hands and feet due to the frostbite from that "adventure" ever since.
  21. yup. but then again the old man did not have to tell us to go help back then, we did it automatically because that was what we did. help neighbors, especially the elderly. even if we did not like them.
  22. live hydraulics. that style pump is usually used on a cement mixer, or government truck so PTO pump does not need to be used all the time.
  23. as long as you have a master plan........... that does not include total world domination!!! 😁
