  1. I was in Bangor Maine yesterday to join Donald Trump at his rally there....He's nothing like the left wing media lap dogs are projecting him to be, He's a great speaker with great message and above all its evident He LOVES this country and in my opinion will do everything in his power to help ALL the citizens of America.
  2. The very worst of Donald Trump will be MUCH better than the best of hillary......which she would never give us. TRUMP PENCE 2016
  3. Thanks, I'll be sure and do that.....and what do you torque the gripes at? I've heard everywhere between 1100lbs. to 1600lbs? I don't remember what we did on the spring we repaired years ago....but the 1100 seems to be in my mind, but that's a far cry from the 1600 I've heard recently.
  4. Ok thanks, thats what I was hoping to hear.
  5. You say the rear screw is in the cut off? If so, on most rears the numbers you are looking for are stamped on the outer end of the pinion shaft...but I'm not sure about Mack, I've never looked at mine.
  6. Like the title says, I have a broken bottom main leaf on my 44,000lb rear spring. I replaced everything BUT springs including the trunnion stand last fall just before I shut down for the winter. I have a single replacement leaf and am going to change it out my question is ...has anyone else done this before and what is the success rate of the new leaf working well with the 10 others above it? I'm going to give it a try regardless, the general consensus on changing the complete spring is that both need to be done together because of the axle alignment issues (i'm hoping just the bottom leaf won't throw things that far out of alignment). I'm going this route this once because of the parts difference ($166.00 for a replacement leaf vs $1450.00 for two springs) it's a calculated risk at this point. The gripes were new when I done the past work and I'm going to try reusing them on this move. I replaced a leaf on the other side (4th from the bottom) twelve years ago with a used leaf and that is still in the spring today. But I realize that wasn't a main leaf.
  7. Thanks, I guess I'll check and see if they still have it.
  8. Thanks for the reply. I didn't realize they were no longer available...maybe their price wasn't that far off base.
  9. I have an 86 RD685S with the gray interior, I would like to buy the two replaceable top pieces of the dash....The one above the speedo and tach and the one above the right side gauge cluster (the piece that the ashtray is recessed into) I'm not sure what model years or other models are the same but if anyone has these parts to sell at a reasonable price and could respond with the part #s I'll check mine and see if they are the same. My local Mack dealer has the piece that holds the ashtray....but wants $100.00 dollars for it, I'm hoping to find one for a bit less, I didn't ask about the piece above the speedo but I somehow doubt they're on sale either. When I get to the truck I'll get the #s from mine and post them. Thanks in advance
  10. Update.... The new motor is working well, the combination of less fuel and more boost seems to be doing it good. The new turbo is pushing 20lbs of boost and the egts are never above 850...I believe this is going to be a good build.. ......and the trucks pulls as good as before to boot.
  11. Thanks, the injector was swapped around and even relaced the last time
  12. I guess I should have stated my question a little differently and included 'other than the obvious' lol, I couldn't agree more, not having to deal with those things is perks enough to keep on with the old Mack.
  13. OK Thanks, I am reasonably sure my state has restrictions but I'll check to be sure.
  14. I have an 1986 Mack RD685S is it considered antique now? I work the truck every day and have since I purchased it in 2002 so it just doesn't seem 'antique' to me. If it is are there any percs to owning and working an antique truck? ie: licensing fees, insuring and such?
  15. Its called 'indoctranation'
  16. I can't say for sure that it was......but would it go for two years between pistons if it were not working? I talked with a man yesterday that has a 400 and has the same experience with his......since he cranked it up, #5 every time, I'm hoping between my old turbo not up to par and cutting the fuel back that I am going to be running this motor longer than the last two.
  17. No, the head was changed two pistons ago.
  18. The cooler is aimed right, I have been on my back guiding the connecting rod down by the nozzle the last two times so I'm sure it is still right. I do believe the fuel pressure was to much and I also believe that number five must be the 'hot hole' in these engines. Time will tell, I cut the fuel back enough so I haven't seen the pyrometer go above 875 degrees....before I turned it back I could run it up into the 1000s without much effort.
  19. No, nothing different with the intake....141/2 to 17 is the norm for boost, the cooling nozzle was checked and aimed to spec, rocker arm travel was checked and a visual of the cam lobes confirm its condition to be like the others.
  20. Well, shes back together and running sweet....on less fuel, and with the new turbo its making 19lbs boost so more air and less fuel may mean less of a chance of a reoccurring piston issue. Im hoping this is the last time im into this engine in my working life.......time will tell. Thanks to all for the pointers on possable reason but i found no smoking guns this time.
  21. I agree but the question is...why? Deck is perfect and all liners are fine.
  22. For sure....but im out of ideas so back together she goes
  23. If, during re-installation of the head I find something that we've overlooked I'll be sure and post it up for all to see. Thanks to all for the help and suggestions. ...It doesn't bother me so much that it is doing what it's doing, as it does that I can't figure it out. lol
  24. Well, The head is done...and checked for double sealing washers, nothing there. The fuel line was changed on that cylinder the last time we replaced that piston so no smoking gun there either. Looks like I'll be putting it back together without having a fix for the ongoing problem....sigh, I suppose I'll just pull that head and replace no. 5 every spring before I start using the truck and minimize my losses do to down time. I don't have anywhere else to turn.
  25. Now 41chevy come on, You KNOW 'the will of the people' don't mean jack...... the Washington elite, and most state elected officials aren't going to get filthy rich of the backs of the people if the people have anything to say about it.
