  1. In a way I can see them stopping mack manual transmissions as automatics are taking over but why would you stop offering Eaton manuals ? Arrogance and ignorance
  2. It would be interestingto see if it's possible
  3. You can't put a isx in a CH have to have a CL . The truck your looking at must be a CL.
  4. This is a nice one for sale do you guys know the story mcdevitt has it tell me the story guys ?
  5. Thanks for the explanation . 😊on another note I've heard of maybe a mp8 550to 575 hp rating coming soon hope it's true .
  6. Another thing I wonder is why can't you get a bigger sleeper on a Granite or why can't you get a 20 k front axle in a Pinnacle boggles my mind and then they wonder why there market share is so low.
  7. Price was the biggeet reason Titan failed to sell . Just in my little corner of the world I know of 5:guys that priced out titans and didn't buy and would have if the price was right.
  8. More about the CL I'd say 80 or 90 percent of them had e7 engines I've seen alot of them with 350 hp e7 alot with 427 and 454 and 460 . For some reason in 03 mack decided to only offer them with cummins isx I know this because we had 2 trucks totaled in 03 by a suicide car driver. We were looking into new trucks and the sales man said only cummins in the CL from now on. They did offer the signature 600 cummins in 2000-2002 as a stop gap for the loss of the e9 but you could still get the e7 until 03 . I always thought they should offered the mp 8 in the titan as cheaper lighter alternative to the mp10 in hindsight the titans work great for us but most applications there just to big and tall ,they were never meant to be a high volume truck if I recall mack planned on building about 100 to 200 a year based on serial numbers I've looked at it guess they made about 1000 in North america but I might be wrong on that I would like to know the total production numbers of the titan .
  9. Kind of all comes down to modern day mack doesn't know how to make a truck people want . You almost always have to compromise to buy a mack ether pay more money or get less hp . We loved ours CL' s but ours were all e7 powered very durable engine but horrible engine brake and mediocre power. The etech ones weren't that durable though. Anyway mack doesn't really have a clue how to make anything but dump trucks and garbage trucks .
  10. Actually the CL was offered with alot of options the first few years e7,e9.caterpillar 3406,Detroit series 60 . Sleepers and axle and suspensions of all ratings and vendors .
  11. I'd have to try out a mp8 to know if it could satisfy our need . I've heard they have good power . My previous truck was a e7 460 xt 487 hp 1760 torque . It did the job but in real steep situations off road and on town highways you had to be on your game because if you screwed up and missed a gear you'd be all done it would fall flat if you didn't shift at the right time .my Titan I have the confidence I'll make the hill without a problem . I drove. E9 before the 460 and I had that confidence I have now. That's why I'm leary of the mp8 I. Those hairy spots will it perform. I weigh between 100 to 110 k all the time
  12. We have to wait and see . I'm sure there's been some blowback from dealers . Even though Titan didn't sell well I'm sure at least some dealers liked having that option on the table .
  13. We had a CL glider built in 07 with a remack 427 it blew the turbo on its first load
  14. There's no way that's real that's a photo shopped 😁😂😅😓 I hope people don't believe that lol
  15. I've been thinking about this for a week now, if volvo corporate ordered the d16 /mp10 to be stopped why would mack. Have to stop building titans why not just start installing mp8 and cummins x15 . Keep the line going maybe give the Titan a face lift new hood design with superliner2 inspired lines and rename it superliner 3 bingo sales boom . Hey but what do I know .
  16. Is the 505 c+ with 1860 torque available in a granite ? I know back a few years ago you could only get the 505 maxidyne which was rated at 1700 torque I think .
  17. I had the same thought 😎bring back e7;and e9
  18. Swishy, yeah, the grill stays in place when the hood tilts on ours. But there was a different grill you could get that stayed hooked to the hood. Bullhead, yeah, the filters under the cab stay clean. I've only changed mine once in 150k miles. I checked them not long ago and they're still clean.
  19. This whole thing is odd like you said volvo had the d16 on their websites and press releases as certified for 17;mack did as well.
  20. I wanted a aussie style mack superliner,/Titan ever since I first saw one in bulldog magazine in the late 90s when I was 17. 17 years later I got one of the American version I am pretty lucky
  21. The main rail on ours is bigger than our superliner and CL . They are measured in metric units but I think it's like 7/16 thick. The inside rail is smaller. They're deep as well. Triple frame was an option as well.
  22. 99 percent chance our next one will be a western star
  23. Yeah I've been on the scales at a paper mill next to western stars with dd 16 's and set up basically the same as me and I'm a little lighter . There's alot of myths about titans out there but it's water over the dam now.
  24. I'm pretty sure they brought the Australian Titan to North America was because people wanted it here but they priced it a little too high and didn't offer sleepers. We didn't buy them to look down on anyone. We bought because we wanted a mack truck that would haul the heavy loads without compromise. We payed the extra 10 grand, which amounts to a couple hundred a month more than a Western Star. When your talking about payment of 2500 or 2700, what's the difference? I think the mp8 being rated at 505 hp certainly cannibalized Titan sales as it is enough power for most. But at the time, when we bought ours, the granite only offered a 505 with 1760 torque which was the same as the 460 etechs we had that didn't really do the job that great. Someone said the D16 is done in North America for volvo as well so there pulling out of heavy haul altogether. The only real issue we had the titans is the corrosion of the grill and air cleaners, mack lied to us and said they were developing a new grill and air cleaners and that wouldn't corrode and they'd be giving it to us under warranty I doubt that will happen now as they discontinued and cut and run . Pathetic.
