  1. Definitely the e tech was where Mack first started hemoraging sales. Most of the fleets that hauled forest products in my area that ran Mack switched to cat and cummins after the etech and they didn't buy c12 cats they bought c15 . I just think Mack was trying to get to much power out of that 12 liter and that's why the reliability went down with the 427 and 460 etech they couldn't take the heat with the extra emission controls. A bigger 6 cylinder engine would of faired better
  2. My opinion is Mack by the late 90s was stuck selling 12 liter engines that were choked by tightening epa regulations and they just couldn't compete with the 14 and 15 liter competition. Before the epa diesel regulations the six cylinder Mack could hold its own. You combine the under powered engine with no low rpm torque and no straight hood classic styled truck and bingo loss of market share
  3. Must be Volvo built that truck ..........
  4. That actually looks like a Volvo vhd
  5. 1986 ? We had a 98 CL with with all Mack parts e7 454 engine 18 spd Mack transmission 50 k lb Mack rears 100 percent mack
  6. Cat has a MAN engine international cab the only thing cat is the automatic transmission.
  7. Just as much a Mack as that cat is a cat .
  8. Mack no longer makes a forestry heavy haul truck ? Funny Idrive one every day
  9. I wonder what Mack will do with more independence. ? I wonder how long of a leash lundstedt will give them
  10. The 30 percent injectors are the way to go. . they do make a blixxton box tuner also .also you can advance the timing on that year e7 .
  11. Go with a Mack CL713 with e7 vmac1 or 2 350 thru 454 if you go etech go 460 xt . CL 's are easy to service alot of room. Under the big long hood and they have steel radiator no plastic .
  12. Sweden allows up to 64 metric tonnes on 6 or 7 axles most of Europe is 44 tonnes. Some countries allow 50 tonnes. I'm guessing in Europe the rivalry between competing truck and engine builders are the reason the hp is so high. Seems like north america is stuck at the 600 hp mark . cat had a 625 for a few years before they got out.
  13. They haul heavier weights in oz and Europe than in North America. They offered the e9 up to 610hp in oz and only 500 here .
  14. im pretty sure in oz the 685 hp mp10 is only available with the m drive . as far as the us market titan on paper it has has the most power of any engine available in north america 605 hp 2060 torque. cummins and detroit are 600 hp with 2050 max .
  15. Unleash the dog . this could be the beginning of a resurgence. Several times in Mack's storried history it looked Grimm and a they made a comeback lets hope Martin lundstedt has a great vision for mack
  16. We are the only log haulers in our area that run titans. A few have priced them but wouldn't buy because of the price difference. We are the hard core Mack guys . we figure the extra 150 dollars a month was worth it but your right most people won't spend the extra.
  17. Whats the reason for the Volvo way our selling Mack' titans up there ? The price ? Or the lack of a sleeper bigger than the 36 incher ?
  18. Ive always thought they should of made a extended hood ch set forward or at the time a set forward CL . I was happy when they came out the Titan. I don't consider the Titan to be a set back axle . it's pretty much a center mounted front its farther back than a RW but forward of CL. I like the high rise Aussie style cab and air intakes for heavy haul it is nice because you get a lot of air flow and they run cool even on steep grades with 60 tons gross in 90 plus heat they keep there cool. I agree they should make a highway truck with mp 10 available.
  19. If you put a Mp10 in a chu and extend the hood and frame its going to be as heavy as a titan and just as expensive. You can order a titan with lighter frame rails a 12 or 14.6 front and 38 or 40 rearends on air ride and its no heavier than a kw w900 then put a mail mak after market sleeper on it you'd have your truck .
  20. Makes sense for cat to make vocational trucks. They make construction, mining, and logging equipment so It makes sense to try to sell trucks to their equipment customers. I assume your saying mack doesn't care about vocational trucks anymore ? Not true at all mack still is a leader in vocational trucks. There current product line fat out does caterpillar trucks .
  21. The titan and vnx are more different than this new cat and a international. Different cabs . different front axle spacing .if you park a titan and a vnx side by side on the outside there's no similarities. This cat and a 5900 international look almost the same
  22. I always liked cornbinders especially the 9300 and the 5900i . the thing I like about the new cat is the square fenders .
  23. I gotta say that's a nice looking rig.
  24. I don't blame u . if your truck is cherry and u like it keep it . I was just saying you can make a lot of power with a 427 or 460 with bigger injectors and or ecm tuning . I personally like the bigger ch cabs . I used to o like the r cab better until I got used to the bigger cabs . I've been in CL and now Titan I wouldn't want to go back to the r cab but I'm sure I'd get used to it .
  25. just remember you can turn up the e7 427 and 460 . i had a 460 that would run with 500 cats and never got passed by a rd
