  1. I will admit I got used to driving a 12 speed after a while but I learned to drive with a 18 spd fuller . I learned you have to shift a 12 speed nice and slow with alot of finesse. My dad ordered his 89 superliner with a 12 spd and hated it 4 yrs later he put a 18 spd in it
  2. I know the ones I drove and were around as a kid were not so good
  3. If you like the sound of grinding gears and vibrations go with the 12 spd
  4. Yeah we only have 1 bay and 5 trucks . Thats me and my little Ben . Hes only 10 months old but hes road with me a couple times already . Not in the titan yet though
  5. I'm gonna put a picture of Thomas on the hood.
  6. I mean stateline truck svc
  7. Another question I have about cat trucos is i saw on truckpaper.com a bunch of new 2014 cat ct660 trucks for sale in Kentucky with 550 hp 15 liter engines. I didn't think that they were making cat 15 liter engines anymore ? So are these Cummins Isx15 engines or is cat putting c15 motors in there trucks and paying a EPA fine?
  8. The Psystar cab is a nice cab its the hood of the cat ct truck that is ugly. An international 9900 has the same cab as a cat truck but has the long classic hood I'm surprise cat didn't make a long nose classic truck to compete with Pete and kw
  9. We had 2 stars one a 95 with with the small cab a 425 cat with an 8ll nice truck but the kitty cat blew up at 350k about 15k hrs . Our Mack e7 's of the same vintage ran 35 to 40 k hrs and 700k miles. The other star we had was a 01 with the constellation cab 475 cat with a 8ll . It was a good truck but the cab cracked by the door hinges and the cab air bags were a nightmare and the wiring in the dash sucked
  10. Still a v8 sounds way better than a v6 turbo. If I was buying a Ford is go with the coyote5.0 v8
  11. that doesn't supreme me . Today I saw 7 cascadias in a row all different companies too. Its crazy ive never seen a truck dominate like the cascades. Maybe in the 50s Mack b models dominated trucking like the cascadia ? When I was younger there wad way more variety of trucks.
  12. I 100 % agree Mr ksc. It doesn't leave a consumer very many choices. When we were shopping for a new truck we shopped Mack freightlner w.star Pete and kenworth. International wasn't even considered as they were in turmoil and at the time didn't even offer a truck with a motor big enough. The macks were the most expensive option even a granite was more than a freightliner or peterbilt. We called the local freightliner and Western star dealer and they were supposed to send us specs and prices of Detroit powered trucks. They sent us Cummins powered specs and would not return phone calls . Peterbilt only offered Cummins if you wanted big power same with kw and both Paccar brands are farther away than Mack dealers are for us so we went with Mack. So we are glad we did and now I'm done with this subject.
  13. I'm not gonna argue over white GMC autocar. Again I dont love Volvo I dont think Volvo saved Mack. Mack was was a casualty of international big business. I wish things were different but again there not and you cant cry over spilled milk your whole life. As far as freightliner we were looking at buying a Coronado severe duty before we got the first titan and the salesman told us they are built in Mexico even for the US market.
  14. I think theres 2 different Mack 46 rears one has the 6 bolt axles like a 44 and one has the 8 bolt axles like a 50 .
  15. Also freightliner builder some of their class 8 trucks including the coronado in mexico where as macks and Volvo are built in the USA. Just saying
  16. I'm not a Volvo lover I wish Mack was American owned and was making modern versions of their legendary trucks and engines but thats not the way it is . I think Volvo should have kept the white and autocar names alive and been more like Daimler but they are there own company and wanted to promote there own Volvo name and actually Volvo is the only foreign truck maker to ever have success selling foreign name plated trucks in the u.s. class 8 market. Scania tried it and couldn't succeed.as far as the new macks go ive said before we like them they have met all our expectations so far and surpassed some of our expectations. We could have switched brands and hate on Volvo but we chose not to. To each his own
  17. Also I was talking class 8 sales as well. You are a pompous man.
  18. 263k in 99 vs 184 k in 2013. So even if 14 sales are 30% higher than13 it still only comes up to 239k in 14. Also industry wide class 8 sales are 30 % higher in February. Macks sales were43% higher so how is that bad sales ?
  19. to compare sales in 99 to sales today is unfair. In 99 truck sales as a whole were way higher than today. Also construction industry was way stronger then compared to now. Back in 99 there was all kinds of small excavation company's buying new trucks and equipment. Mack is lucky be selling as many new trucks as they are.
  20. What is a 575 Detroit? I'm guessing a non egr series 60 14 liter ? I know they only made them a yr or 2 .
  21. Also it's for sale 2004 Cl glider 460xt 18 spd Mack 46k Rockwell full lockers 4.33 ratio 20k lb tag 272 wb 2008 serco8500 log loader Asking $ 88000.
  22. Yeah really they weren't that bad . I'm running the 460xt in my CL glider that came in the 2000 ch tractor that got totaled in 03. Its had 3 turbos one new cam an inframe overhaul at 24000 hours. It still has 2 original eup's its only had one set of injectors changed. We just did a head gasket . It had the head bolts break a few years ago. Its had 5 or 6 Horton fan hubs go. The water pump housing cracked a few times . In total has 33000 hrs on the block now.
