  1. never seen a e9 with a 6 spd . very cool
  2. i know it is a marine pump and its inline. one of the heads on our e9 came from the marine engine because mack only had 3 heads when we rebuilt the engine so the shop that did the work sold us a head from the marine e9 and now we have the injection pump too its just sitting in a box in our shop right now.
  3. i think youll see bigger sleepers as an option in the future. im not sure why you cant get a 70 inch mid rise on the titan because in australia they offer them with big bunks. the tian is a great truck though . i love ours it is like nothing else on the road. great visability with the high cab and the hood tilts down just enough. power is great and engine brake is amazing . and it has a bulldog on the hood and its rare . pete 379/389 and kw w900 are dime a dozen nothing special abou them anymore . maybe 20 yrs ago they were more rare but now everyone has them . id rather be different . just my opinion.
  4. so i will ask you one more time kscarbel. so a mack granite with a 20k lb mack front axle and 58k lb mack rears on camelback suspension with a mack transmission is not a mack truck ? this is what you saying. how about a chu with a 14k lb mack front axle and mack 44k rears on mack air ride and a 18 speed mack transmission is not a mack truck ? and of coarse a mack titan with a triple frame and 65k lb mack rears and a mack 18spd and 23k lb mack front axle is also not a mack. right ? mp series engines are good engines theyn are able to be serviced at mack dealers and service dealers. the m drive is being built right here in america as well as the mp series engines so what is swedish about this ?
  5. actually the titan does have sleeper options now . but only 36 inch coffin and possibly 42 or 48 . i have seen one in canada with a 60 70 inch bunk looked sweet ,and when we compared prices of titans and western star the titan was about 5k more . but yeah peterbilt is cheaper
  6. the worst thing about alot of peterbilt drivers is they wont wave to anything but another pete it seems like . anyone else ran into this ?? the low rider seat and extended shifters are also a turn off lol
  7. thanks guys you lifted my spirits .
  8. i am seeing a alarming trend with my generation of truck drivers and truck fans. i am 32 yrs old and have been born and raised around mack trucks. when i hang out with other truckers i get lots of negatve opinions of old and new mack trucks from my "friends" . this irritates me because i know the history and the legend that is mack trucks. the first mack i rode in was a 1974 rd triaxle log truck with a 300 6spd . the first mack i drove wwas a 1989 mack rw713 with a e9500 18spd. but ill get to the point . whenever i mention macks around these guys i get "macks are junk and slow and ugly" and "peterbilt is the best " . i just wonder if my generation will continue to treasure mack trucks . most of these truckers dont know the legend that is mack . they only see these pimped out petes and kenworths as the only desirable truck, i stand my ground though.
  9. nice job, to many fine old macks are getting scrapped and exported. i hope my generation continues to save macks. i have my doubts most guys in there 20s and 30s have no appeciation or respect for old macks or new ones for that mattter
  10. we got a e9 injection pump from a marine spec e9 . we are going to put it on our superliner that has the e9 500 hp . will this give us more power ? we were told it was a 610 hp engine
  11. i think all new vehicles rust alot sooner than they used to. look at any frame of a pickup truck after 3 yrs the paint is gone . i wish things were like the old days as well. but we live in this world economy and the old america is gone forever. im just as sad as you about this. i wish i could buy a brand new mack superliner or titan model with a modern mack v8 engine with 600 hp and 600 engine brake hp, but it does not exhist. i was skeptic of the titan we got recently but knock on wood so far its been great. the mp10/ d16 is a powerful engine and the engine brake is downright ferocious. and its the quietest truck ive ever heard. we plan purchasing more. and the best thing is we can still go to our mack service dealer and get excellent service. so to us thats the best thing about staying with the new macks, a truck is only as good as its service dealer. we have had other brands and the service is just not there. i know for a fact that 1999 was te lst yr of the v8 here in the us . my dad tried to order a cl in mid 99 and they told him it was no longer available in trucks, so he would have to get a cummins or a ch with the 460xt 487 hp etech with 1760 torque so thats what he did. it was a good little truck but got totaled in 2003 . and we gliderd it into cl log truck chassis. i currently run the 04 cl glider every day with the 460xt and 18 speed mack trans. like you mack is in my blood .
  12. i believe the pre volvo mack was the one that discontinued the v8. 1999 was the last year of production, renault failed to modernize the v8 to a electroncally controled fuel system and a better engine brake. also renault mack was the one that discontinued the rw and replaced it with the CL, the cl was a rugged and dependable truck we have 4 of them but they were bland . they look identicle to the set back ch series which were mostly light duty fleet trucks mostly. you have to be a mack fan to know the differance of a CL and the ch set back. so in my opinion mack made alot of mistakes pre volvo which led them to loose market share. the titan is over priced . most consumers dont care if mack and volvo share chassis and engines. they want a reliable and cost competive truck.
  13. we had a 2001 western star with eaton double lockers . no problems at all with it had 380k miles of log truck off road abuse
  14. i know our salesman told us he was going to try to get us in bulldog.
  15. kscarbel. have you seen the new mack rears . top load mack rears with double lock option . the gold bulldog is alive and well. go on truck paper.com an look at the macks alot of them have mack rears. but you wont listen . you just keep saying the same story over and over and over and over and over. we get it . volvo owns mack. they share parts and chassis . big deal. we live in a world economy. the m drive/i shift is a great transmission. i dont see paccar or navistar making a transmission yet. mack still has a identity. i remember as a kid i was a fan of gmc generals. volvo bought them and immediately ended the general. volvo bought autocar and white and immediately turned them into volvos . mack is a differant animal. volvo has owned mack for 12 years and mack still has there own cabs . transmissions rears and engine family with different hp and torque characteristics than volvo. mack has the titan heavy haul truck. look just 5 yrs ago mack had the outdated aset engines that were gutless and unreliable. and if you needed a big bore engine you had to buy the cummins powerd cl733 . how can you say that mack is dead? the bullldog is barking loud and proud again as far as im concerned
  16. i agree the mack line is the best its been since the late 90s .
  17. im really sick of the arrogance of kscarbel. go to paccar site
  18. ill put a mp10 or mp8 up against that mx anytime .
  19. whats the vab mark 2 thats shown on macks website ? its ether 4x4 or 6x6 armored vehicle.
  20. where do you get that the paccar mx engine is great ? we talked to a peterbilt dealer and they said to not buy one because it wont hold up to heavy hauling. volvo engines are good motors just as good as any other motor, i seriously think you hAVE A GRUDGE AGAINST MACK. ?
  21. ive seen 6 titans besides the one we have. theres 2 of them operated by sessler construction those are blue . i think there from central ny. i saw a red one operated by casco bay heavy hauling .i think there out of maine.theres a white lowboy tractor ive seen around saratoga and lake george ny. continental paving has a orange one ive seen around manchester nh . then i saw a blue one hauling logs up the maiine turnpike . then theres ours . can you tell im a titan fan.
  22. 5000 miles .
