  1. Hi, measured truck today, have mounts in correct spot now. just need to space them out an inch an they will be wide enuf for cab. have started on the dash to, will be padding the plastic in black vinyl and then having the gauge area done in western red cedar wood grain, this process is powder coating used for house doors. does the R models over there have a glove box? Grant
  2. Hi, thankyou for the replies, it seems like an intersting bit of gear. we have a lot of muddy dirt roads here, just dont want to get bogged. regards Grant
  3. hello, no worries, thank you. I have a week away from it, as i am on way to melbourne in a b double.
  4. Hi, its the air operated one. am glad they work well, as this thing may end up thru alot of dirt tracks. Grant
  5. Hi, does any one have a side pic of chassis around cab front mount area? I just need to confirm the location i have is correct. I have all ready swapped engine mounts around once to get them in correct spot, dont want to get caught with the cab Grant
  6. Hi, how well does the power divider work? read the manual on it, seems quite interesting but how well does it work? Grant
  7. Hi, I have seen one down here that has been cut in half and welded, this was a replacement lower section. the truck was rated to 120ton and it never broke. Grant
  8. Hi, the fan runs on belts. its a big heavy thing to. bet that robs some power. the angle does look out, will check the 4degree today. the chassis I am useing was a 6cyl chassis. the engine mounts, front crossmember, front engine mount are all from an F model that had the deaper rails. Grant
  9. hi, other than the turning circle and the ease of reversing 2x 45 foot trailers up to the third they are bumpy things!, KWs are cramped, Volvos make you sea sick and freghtliners buck. the price is about what we pay down here for a heavy duty prime mover. Grant
  10. Hello, thats what i thought. but if i lift it up the mounts dont line up. need to look at another one to see where its located. Grant
  11. Hello, it wouldnt be narrower by much, have put them in both spots and it didnt seem to go in much, will find out how out they are I spose my mobile has changed also. regards Grant
  12. Hello All, gt engine in today, found a notle mount with correct mounts on it, saved a heap of time! but is the engine sitting in the correct spot or is it leaning back to far? and on a 700 where do the cab mounts sit? I think i have them in correct spot?? Grant
  13. Thankyou everyone for your help. I found a impellor and a new shaft here, just waiting on the spring seal from Mack. Grant
  14. Hi, neat truck. if its a 74 why has it got an early cab on it tho? Grant
  15. Hi, mine was sand blasted, the soda guy ran a mile. cost me 750.00 aud to get chassis, crossmembers blasted. they came up like new. Grant
  16. Hi, got the impellor off today. I was correct, it locked up and had sheared the pin! problem is it has cracked the impellor in front of the pin. the shaft is not to happy either. the bearing behind the timing cover case that the water pimp is driven by, are these fed by the oil system? or are they sealed? and is there any more sealed bearings on the front of this engine? the water pump isnt available new there is it? part #316GC1151A it cross refranced to 316GC1151EX here. Grant
  17. Hi, pic supplied. see the pin is not in line with the hole. and it doesnt want to pull off and none available in Australia and when they were available they were 397.00 aud Grant
  18. Hi, will take one tomorrow. i am guessing the bearing has failed, the pump bound up on casing and its sheared the pin? basicly there is a hole in the shaft where a pin would go. and there is a pin in impellor that is a 1/4 of a turn further around from that hole in shaft. Grant
  19. Hi, ok, pump impellor and shaft are out. the roll pin! um.... i see one end on the impellor but no other end in shaft. but if you turn shaft around there is a hole half way into shaft and then its solid. so either the pin is broke and impellor has moved or someone has drilled another hole an relocated the pin and welded it in? either way it is not coming off! where am i likely to get another impellor and shaft? Grant
  20. Hi, the roll pin is missing. I havent got it out of the block yet, thats going to be the hardest part at the moment. should try that paint, it may work? Grant
  21. hi, no worries, thankyou. will keep trying to get it out then, its a tite fit. Grant
  22. Hi, so once i have the pump housing off I should be able to take the impellor and shaft out with out pulling timing cover off engine? is this what you mean? its getting all new hoses around this thing before engine goes in. gotta give it a fighting chance of survival the cooling setup is impressive once you work out the system. Grant
  23. Hi, I understand what you are saying with fans been on a car etc, I drive a Western star at the moment with either a B triple or a 3 x 45 foot trailers and when the horton cuts in the dam thing drops all its go, I has a 550 putty cat in it and does go well till fan hits it. but what cfm does it pull? the fans I was looking at pull 1400cfm and 2 sets would draw 80 amps, some of the alternators we get down here are up around 300amp so I doubt that would be an issue. the issue is what you said with having the abilaty to cool, what cfm does a horton put out? my 866 hjas a solid fan on it, what cfm does that put out? Grant
  24. Hi, am slowly getting this 866 sorted. have just pulled water pump off to replace little hoses. they um didnt think much about road side repairs for just a blown hose did they! and the seal behind the waterpump impellor, how do i get this out? pull front cover off? it looks like i can press it off on engine but what about getting impellor back on again? do i take front cover off? and 2 thermastats! are all 866 engines twin thermastat or is this an australian severe weather outback system? and engine has been sitting for 18mths, anything i should do? thanks Grant
