  1. Hi, I second this, would pull the hub apart and look at bearings, just cause temp is down, doesnt mean its ok. if it was difs you should be able to alter the noise with your accelator, and same if it was rest of driveline, that would make a noise no matter what way you go. I would expect your wheel bearing is pitted good luck. Grant
  2. Hi, I would like to get 2 of mine checked out also. I have fr797rs1057 and r797rs1056 ones an F and one is an R does this mean they were behind each other on the line? Grant
  3. They do in melbourne to! but out on the paddock and up north that helps stop a few rocks from taking out those screens. doesnt seem to get rid of the drop bears tho! Grant
  4. Hi, how does someone from Australia get to that Ice road truckers? Grant
  5. Hi, well i just got a glove box lid for my R model and the part number has been changed to a VO I bet they will can all parts for mack older models when they legaly can and slowly shut the trucks down to try push people to the volvo. Mack made a big mistake going to them. Grant
  6. hi, um the steering wheel is on the right hand side of truck so really its the right side, not the wrong side.?? so there for Y' all must be on de wrong side of truck... the cold is better than the heat tho, its easier to get warmer than it is to get cooler. an the cooler it is the less tyres i have to change. Grant
  7. Hi, come down here if you like the heat! you open the truck door to get out and its like someone just threw a brick at you. Grant
  8. Hi, thought so. that R700 you told me about sold. its now in perth. Grant
  9. Hello, yes its a dual system, have done the lines from the chambers to quick release valves to the R14 valves and have stopped there. have not done any lines in the cab, the red/yellow buttons are seperate plastic versions. i have converted the brake pedal valve to inside the cab from a western star, they tell me its the same treddle valve though. none lines are done inside cab at all. have been doing the electrical and radiator etc lately. 10. 500 for a jump start!! from who the president? we jump start them down here from a car, just gotta run the car for a few minutes while it pushes the charge in. be a triple A member, they should do it, they may get scared till they realise you just sit there a few minutes longer with a nice solid set of jumper leads. Grant
  11. Hello, kenworths are bad for cables binding, is it cable or linkage set up? I would drop cables or likage off box when cold and see how free box area is, then do same when hot, this will atleast tell you if its in or out the box that is is the problem. Grant
  12. Hi, no its on the right side. you should still be able to do it with your steering wheel been on the wrong side just do it to the bottom arm instead of the top one. Grant
  13. Hi, thats about what I had measured to. yet when you look at pics of an 866 in an r model, as well as mine, I dont know how the radiator would be much lower as the fan is at the top of the core any way. Grant
  14. Hello, down here at the bottom of the world cab overs are used to pull B doubles, they have a better turning circle and easier to reverse with a B double, B triple or backing up to a third trailer on a triple road train, they are quicker at chasing the two trailers and dolly. how ever they are bumpy and have a rough ride. for some unknown reason most ab overs down here are aerodynes, you see more of these than any other, I prefer the 110 argosy my self, plenty of room and no need to be a monkey to get in the thing! plus they have a flat floor unlike the Kennys. Grant
  15. Hello, thankyou, the FR i had was 1975, it did not have the cross over steer. I was told by a radiator shop they were the same, how ever it is now bolted into truck and um sits very very high, I think if it fits under the hood I will be lucky. thats what is worrying me. I think the radiator shop got it wrong. Grant
  16. Hi, it goes around the back, it wont peel off in the heat that way. its not a bad finish, slightly soft. Grant
  17. Hi, try these pics also., the dash is in for good so more difficult now. Grant
  18. Hello, I have done this with my dash, its all vinal now, the dash is easy to get out once your switches are out of the way, i did this one in 3 parts, the passenger section, the drivers section and speedo an top section in one piece. I also fibreglassed and bondo the holes on the top and removed ash tray etc. pics in my gallery. Grant
  19. Hi, ok thankyou. have you got those brakes to work yet? Grant
  20. Hi, I think i may have asked this before? is an F model and R model the same radiator size? and is F model and R model bottom radiator mounts the same? Grant
  21. hI, um will try tomorrow, the dash is in now and am halfway through wiring it up, it has a new harness so every single wire has to be done as I am using one of those keep it clean hotrod harness. the conversion was quite easy once the ratio was worked out. 1, unbolt air motor only. (leave bracket that goes through firewall) 2, I used a 2 speed ford falcon wiper motor( you may be able to use a ford mondaeo motor? 3, make bracket on opposite side of steering wheel, my one is right hand drive, the ("correct", right side.) ) 4, drill a hole in mack linkage, you would use bottom one, as your motor is going to be where my steering wheel is., the hole is about 2 inches away from center mack pivot, then weld on pin for the new arm from electric motor 5, now here is where you have to work out the ratio from motor to the amount of swing on wipers, as you can see i had to bring the pivot point in on the little motor arm, you may not need to do that depending on what motor you use. hope this helps, will get pics and some measurements tomorrow. Grant
  22. Hi, european trucks usually dont have a seperate button on dash, well atleast volvos dont, for the trailer brakes. where is that valve located on your truck? Grant
  23. Hello, did they even have them? I just checked my parts manual and shows non listed, the cab i am using is from an 89 an it didnt have one either, nor did the F model I scrapped. Grant
  24. Hi, have we met? was it you I spoke to at Coolgardie Caltex? I was on way back to perth in the B double and was under your truck counting crossmembers. I have spent a bit with pags if I buy something and ask a question I get an answer, if I dont and I ask a question I get a diffrant answer. am gong to call someone and say plumb this. am doing the wiring now on the cab, a new full harness, much easier than dealing with those horrible brake lines, i have even got electric wipers to work.
