  1. That’s very interesting, I don’t think I have ever heard of a foundry near me. I doubt they teach that in high schools anymore. Thanks for the info
  2. It says Commercial Truck & Equipment, Washington, NC . My son talked to the guy about it, not sure how long he had had it, it’s up near the VA/NC line off I77 .
  3. I had one just like it on a tandem GMC Brigadier, came from a forklift dealer, landing gear system worked great. The one I put on my H Model is a Schwarz made by the farm equipment company, it’s all one motion up and back at the same time, good for farm equipment or trucks, but too steep for cars, The one here on the B73 looks like it will be great for cars, not nearly as steep as mine. It’s going to be sweet with the wood floor.
  4. He said it’s drivable, ( Mack Diesel) it must be newer than my LJ because it has the newer style instrument panel. I passed on it , Trying to stay the course and finish a 40 year project.
  5. Making a little more LJ progress, still hoping a good set of fenders will pop up,, my Son ran across this the other day. Nice old truck,, but I don’t think I can fit another project!
  6. Turned out to be a good show, good weather! Thanks for sharing the group picture, it’s great to put a face on our names.
  7. Sounds good, I’m going to try to make it around 9 ,, it’s loaded ,, my Nephew turned 2 today!
  8. If I get done in time tomorrow I may wash the C Model, I’ll have to haul it down on the Landoll because I haven’t driven that far in years,, hopefully I can find a place to park my truck and trailer
  9. I’m going to try to be there by 10 ,, group picture sounds good, y'all will see me with a 8 year old side kick.
  10. Planning on making the Truck Show in Maiden NC Saturday, hopefully I’ll see some of you there.
  11. I know what you mean about WWII Veterans, I had 3 uncles and a lot of friends I worked with that were WWII veterans, My son did a class project when in High School on one uncle and video taped it, he was in Pattons army and he gave about a 30 minute detailed video,, it’s very interesting, they have all passed over 10 years ago now . I should have asked them More for sure! About a year ago I was trucking across Tennessee and stopped at a rest area on I40 ,,As I was coming out of the restroom a older man was walking in, i caught a glimpse of his cap ,, You don’t see many of these guys out now days, I waited for him, we talked for about 10 minutes, his family was waiting on him, he was from Indiana, He was very young when he went to Germany and Was In the Battle of the Bulge, then shortly afterwards they sent him towards Japan , he was on a ship going through the Panama Canal when they dropped “The Bomb “ , So they went to California and he came home. I thanked him and asked if I could take his picture, I think it made both of our days! Sorry for getting off track, I figured y’all would enjoy the story. The work on the rollback is looking amazing! I put the rollback on my H Model after I stretched it, and yours far more detailed!
  12. They are making a 4 lane on 143 ( Sweetwater Rd ) , across the Mt at the Appalachian Trail. I’ve been all over that area, there was a couple Superliners on 129 but I haven’t seen them lately. Still always looking for LJ parts ( Fenders mainly) when I’m back off the beaten path.
  13. Thank you,, I’m going to try and make it! ( Spent the day in Robbinsville today,, Moving equipment and hauling bridge beams on the road widening projects)
  14. That’s good,, you will get a jump on winter, I can’t wait to see that flooring!
  15. Yes they are good shows, Another in Cherokee in October, I’m not sure I’ll make it to Dacusville, Hopefully Lincolnton. I’ve been so busy I can’t get time to work on any Mack’s .
  16. Thank you for your comments . As for the pinstripes on the spokes I love that! Another fading art , everything is decals now days.
  17. Thank Y’all . I’m sure you have met him Brocky , he was always at the Waynesville and Cherokee show, and he would help me when we had the Truck Show at the WNC ag center across from the Asheville Airport years ago.
  18. Great Video! I love old school Common Sense testing! No Laptops Allowed! Dang that is a Beautiful H Model! My Dad would have been very proud of you, he was a H Model guy for sure!
  19. Today was a hard day, My friend of over 40 years, Jim Buckner Passed last week, this is his B73 leading his Funeral Procession today. This truck was a factory single axle with a Mack engine, He put a Big cam Cummins in it, with Pete air ride, he added 8 inches to the rear of the hood , Great Guy, Great Mechanic and Fabricator. I had shown him Pictures of your B73 , he was very impressed, it’s like you said Matt ,, Enjoy EVERY DAY!
  20. Some days are harder than others,, this weekend has been tough, My friend Jim Buckner of 40 years that I’ve traded Mack parts with, Went to a lot of Truck Shows with, And mostly just a good Friend, Passed away last Thursday, This is his B 73 Leading the Funeral Procession today.
  21. All the way to the right would make more room for sure. He says he’s going to drive it to school when he turns 16 ,, he probably will, he’s 1/2 way there, lol
  22. It certainly takes getting used to, Mine are size 12 , and with steel toe work boots you can’t just slip your foot from fuel to brake, kinda have to lift it and set it back , but I think the picture does show it closer than what it is,, but it is still a little tricky. I’ll try to find a closer picture, I’ll start paying attention to other trucks with that 3 speed auxiliary.
  23. Geoff you are correct about the “ Brownie “ box shifter being directly behind the fuel pedal,, it came factory with this setup according to the original owners son,, I’m unsure if this was common back then with Mack’s , it was originally a log truck sent to Northern California. Dan Thomas has the Sister truck ( 1 serial number newer) I’m unsure what transmission setup his has, it was on the cover of Wheels of Time last year. ( Note the 8 track radio under the glove box,, it was a early 70s restoration)
  24. I have seen those at truck shows but I can’t think of anyone who has one ,, I’m sure they are out there,, I’ll keep my eyes open for one, I know a guy who has a few old Bs junked ,, I’ll ask him . I have an air compressor for a 673 with a PS pump on it.
