  1. If the tank was just rusty and no pinholes I would try the sealer , if they were taken off the truck and steamed out good, then you could pour the sealer in and roll it around, hopefully using a flashlight to make sure the sealer oozed around and covered the rust,, Thank you, it as a lot of work, I filled it with water and did have a couple leaks on the welds , grind and reweld a few times, it’s got about 1/2 tank of fuel and I haven’t seen any leaks.
  2. Hopefully you won’t have to go down this road, mine had about 3 pin holes on each side, I was afraid it was too thin for tank sealer, it came out pretty good, a lot of welding, grinding, I had another tank,, same condition.
  3. I have used it on a small gas tank ( old farm tractor) i steam it really well, I can’t remember the name of what I used, but after I poured it in I had the advantage of rolling and turning the tank so it kinda coated the inside, it worked good for that, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work on Diesel also.
  4. No , ( Bobs LJ is beautiful) it’s actually Anderson , I don’t know much about the company except the fellow that owned the company passed away sometime in the late 50s and his wife ran it, about the time this picture was made they were hauling canned food from Bush Brothers in Newport down towards Eastern NC ,On US 70 before I-40 came through here, Dad left in the fall of 1961 and went to work for Hennis Freight until they went out of business around 1980 with Spector, Then drove for Ryder/Pie , he retired not long after they went out off business. ( oh by the way, that was Moms first & last trip with Dad, she also said it was too rough riding)
  5. Quick story on that Non Interstate topic, In 1958 Dad hauled eggs from a hatchery about 3 miles from us down to Miami, ( US 25 to US 1 ) then bought a load of watermelons and took them to New York City on US 1 , then grabbed just what they could to get back here to Western NC , His trailer had a put put motor on the front, to pull a fan, he climbed a ladder to gas it , and put ice in for the fan to blow cool air in the trailer, His truck was a 57 H Model Mack.( Air starter) My Mom rode with him to Miami and back here 1 time ,Christmas 1958 , I was Born in June 59 ,, So I actually took a trip down US 1 in a H Model about 6 months before I was born,, There’s your Mack Christmas Story. ( I was 2 when this picture was taken)
  6. My Goodness ! I’ve been there and that’s perfect! You are correct about not eating that even if it was eatable,, They did great,, What a wonderful Christmas gift,, that can’t be bought!
  7. I found the little rubber bumpers and a perfect 1948 Standard Oil Southeastern US Road Map,, with NO Interstate System! Reminds me of stories my Dad would tell me about Running a H Model down to Miami and taking US 1 to NY City,,, any way a little more progress. Wishing All Y’all a Merry Christmas!
  8. Very True. Some “ In Progress Calendar Pics “ would be interesting.
  9. Yes a all Mack Calendar would be great!
  10. Thankfully I’ve got 2 small things accomplished this week, just trying to walk over in the corner of the shop where the LJ lives and do ANYTHING once a day, Shift Boots done, and I installed a new glove box! Baby Steps, lol
  11. Hopefully we will get at least weekly updates on the B73 being used for projects and the classic cars moved with it. As for the LJ ,, That B73 is the light at the end of the tunnel for me now,, I’ll do my best to make weekly progress on it.
  12. Sold a Superliner yesterday, it went to a good home, it’s in good company, thought it would make a good photo at the new owners .
  13. Yes I saw a older International with a similar looking pedal, one of my parts trucks has a good one on it, but I’m sure it would break like glass trying it remove it , My LJ never had one when I started driving it in the late 70s , I’ll keep looking for one.
  14. A friend of mine has a 80 W 900 KW , Factory KT600 , Aluminum Frame, it was bought new and used for heavy hauling around Charlotte NC , Frame is Perfect! On the other hand I have a 1987 Freedom Superliner with Aluminum Frame, it bolts to steel under the cab , It’s very corroded anywhere it bolts to steel . It came from Ohio . Both Aluminum Frames are the same thickness, so just my opinion , Salt and bad weather would be much worse for Aluminum than Heavy loads, if it looks good and isn’t corroded I wouldn’t worry about it.
  15. By the way, anyone know where I could purchase a clutch pad, I’ve never really looked at other 50s Mack’s , I know it’s different than a B model .
  16. Thanks, I’ll get the pedals all installed and finish the floor mat and see what it all looks like.
  17. Got a little time to work on my floor, I was unsure what shifter boots the LJ came with, As Matt and Me were comparing the cab height on the B73 and LJ when installing the backdrop manifold , the floor is lower and the mount for the Hi/low stick gets in the way of the boot mount , I made a “ Riser “ not original for sure but I’ll try it.
  18. Absolutely Beautiful,, it’s going to take a heck of a Christmas Tree to “ Outdo “ that Combo!
  19. Looking back I found this older post by MACKDADDY , He has the Sister Truck to my LTH , This is a great photo of the inside of a LT , it’s the lighter color.
  20. Thank you for the compliment on my Grandson,, he’s all in on these Mack’s ,,, My dream is he will stay focused on stuff like this. I took a closer picture of the front brake valve and posted it on the Coca Cola LJ .
  21. Front brake control, it has 4 settings,Low all the way to the left 9 o’clock then a detent notch at 12 o’clock and a detent notch at 1 o’clock and full at 3 o’clock,,, I never really thought about what years Mack used this Bendix-Westinghouse valve or if any other truck manufacturer used them, both my LJ parts trucks have this same valve , my H & C Models just have a on & off Dry/ Slippery. LTH has No front brakes .
  22. I’ll keep asking for updates on your B73 , That forces me to stay in the shop on a rainy day and make progress on my project! And Thank Both of Y’all and ALL Veterans on here for their Service ! 🇺🇸
  23. I’ve got that same picture in one of my Mack books,, When I was growing up my Dad did most of his trucking out of Winston Salem for Hennis,, and when I got my license I used the LJ that I’m restoring to tow for McLean from there , and I can’t recall ever seeing one of those trucks, Probably all got cut up by the late 70s . I would love to see the picture of the one that survived in West Chester PA .
  24. It made a nice Rollback,, And like everyone knows,, it won’t set at the dealership half the time with the check engine light on.
