  1. That's even better than the Volvo Autocar! Reminds me of my friends retired log truck. And no, he's not getting rid of it.
  2. That's the one model truck that Volvo had their name on that I liked.
  3. If I had talent (or money) I'd love to put one of those bodies (or the earlier generation) on my F550 chassis. I always loved the Loadstar's. I just don't need that much frame and suspension. My 550 is punishing enough.
  4. I just came back up to work for my week in the mine. Compared to the fuel I was putting in my F550 to make the 4 trips up here (I work every second week) this F150 is going to save me $380 a month in fuel alone!!! Unreal. Not to hijack the thread...lets see more Bronco's, but can you even call this work! LOL
  5. Awesome trucks and pics Hayseed. How popular were Fords over there? What was the popular motor back in the mechanically governed days for the non-Mack trucks?
  6. Oh is that right Red Horse. I thought everyone was pro Eco-Boost now. They seem to be doing ok and they pull really good. I would have taken one too. But I would never buy a used Eco with all those people taking internet advice and drilling holes in the intercoolers, LOL. But the 5.0 sure does sound nice! And I was shocked to see how much room to work under the hood. You can actually see the ground on both sides of the engine!! Ford Canada has the Bronco up on the web site now. The lowest priced base model starts at just over 40 grand. So still more than I paid for this. If I wasn't so scared about spending money on stuff that doesn't make me money I'd still love to have a Bronco, but I don't want to spend that.
  7. Now that's a dump truck!
  8. Ya, likely is for a loaded one. Here's the F150 I bought Red Horse. Plain jane but the price was right. Only 8 foot box I could find around here and got just over $13,000 off with all that employee pricing sale. Has the 5.0 V8 and 10 speed auto, locking rear diff and trailer package with brake controller. Didn't have the nice goodies I wanted like heated seats but there is a guy in town that installs heat in your seats for $500. Not sure if I'll even bother. And I wanted the LED spotlights in the mirrors and in the box but this truck doesn't have them, so I ordered a back rack and some LED light bars. Sure is a lot less punishing on the highway than the F550.
  9. I really want one of the new Bronco's. But while at my dealership getting some work done on my F550, my salesman friend said he is getting one and they are going to be $70,000 here in Canada. I just drove home in a new F150, LOL It was far cheaper.
  10. Yep. Only memories I want of my past trucking life are to look at this site and see old Mack's, Autocar's and Paystar's.
  11. Ever watch all the videos on Western Star's web site where the guy keeps saying as he shows all the components "Does it cost more? Well yes it does." LOL
  12. For all those that want to buy a Freightliner, but just wanna pay more. LOL
  13. Glad I'm done trucking.
  14. I've said the same thing. I really miss the old interior I had in my 05 Paystar 5600i and the 9900i with the woodgrain and the white face gauges. I prefer it's classic look, but the new Cat style dash is functional and used friendly. I was also very disappointed with International erasing their past heritage and getting rid of the old names like Paystar. But I'll say it again.....of all the new current trucks, the HX is the quietest, smoothest riding truck I have driven when I tried a couple of them out. And the fit and finish and build quality were far above that of the 2013 and 2020 Western Star 4900's I was running. But don't matter now that I am done trucking. I will just keep the past fond memories and pics of my last Paystar.
  15. Yep. It is safer 28 miles underground than it is on the roads today.
  16. This is a dream job really. My department has two new 980 Cat loaders, a D6K dozer and a 330 Cat excavator. The haul trucks which you see here and the tailings dam and open pit stuff are contracted out. But right now my loader is a nearly new (3000 hours) Cat 950M. I am on the little loader because I unload all the transports and explosives with the forks and have to sort out the ore pad. And it is a tool carrier, so it has different buckets, forks, and snow blades and push boxes. My department is day shift only and there is only myself and one other operator on the machine and he is a clean freak like me. I work 7 days, then he works the 7 I am off. I never before knew what it was like to have days off in the summer!! LOL When they get special situations, the underground trucks bring ore up to my pad and the geologists test it, then mark it all. They'll paint O for ore or W for waste. Any ore 18 inch or under I load into the trucks to go to mill. Anything bigger we break with the hammer on the excavator. I got a technique I use where I put my forks on, slide them 18 inches apart and use them to sift the piles. I can sort a lot cleaner that way compared to using the bucket. Last job I was on with the dump truck, they had a bunch of "new" truckers show up. They had no paperwork at all in their trucks and had their owners manuals out because 5 of them could not figure out how to dump the box or open the tailgates of their brand new T800's. I just couldn't take it any more. Between the new breed, and these new emission motors, it just wasn't fun any more for me. Like you say, when you wake up wishing you were dead.....time to move on. I'm 44 miles/70 KM in the bush and surrounded by lakes. Don't get any better than this.
  17. Here's the other CL. Nothing sounds sweeter than a V8 Mack. Nothing.
  18. Well I retired from trucking and couldn't be happier. The whole state of the union sickens me nowadays. Got a job in a gold mine running equipment above ground and when on overtime my coffee mug makes me the same money $240,000 dump trucks make around here, LOL Anyway, been loading these. There is a Superliner and two CL Elites still working in here. All E9 V8's and I assume 65,000 Mack rears. The Superliner is on Camelback and the CL is on solid trunion. They also have Stars with big rears and solid walking beams and one with planetary rears. The other reason I quit trucking. They don't make real trucks like these any more.
  19. Funny you don't see many NEW trucks with loads like that. LOL
  20. Only one thing I love as much as the old Mack's, is the International Paystar. I've drove and owned Paystar's from the old steel hood 6x6 5000's up to my 2005 5600i. Giant frame rails, slipper spring with torque rod front suspension........they were one tough truck.
  21. Pics are not great, got them off Google Images, but shows the AWD RD800's Pelletier's ran.
  22. I'm getting out of touch because I haven't been studying truck specs daily anymore like I used to......but isn't that the same suspension as the Mack M-Ride? Or at least the same style? Or is there a difference. Last time I looked at buying a new Mack I was thinking about that M-Ride, but then many members here told me to stay away. I know it "looks" very similar to the Freightliner Tuff-Trac and we have had a few trucks with that and never had any issues with it.
  23. Here's a couple pics from Nortrux out west.
