Even after 30 years with out him America still wonders "John Wayne were are you when we need you?" Thirty years after his death DUKE is still one of the biggest money earners in D.V.D. and Video sales around the world. Consistantly in the top ten since the 1930's. John Wayne was a roll model for me when my mom wouldn't let our Dad visit and I still watch and own his movies today. GOD bless you DUKE.
  11. Well I read on the introduction forum today something that got me to thinking. (I know Rob thinking is bad for me) Just the same it got me to thinking "why indeed", so I wrote a response but that just wasn't enough. Anyone here ever watch the Arsineo Hall show in the eighties and nineties? hhuuummmmmm HE used to say when questioning something odd or questionable. To a novice or someone who simply wants to look COOOOOOOL I suppose going a hundred miles an hour is good. Or maybe having a ten grand paint job or maybe twenty grand in chrome are legit reasons to have such fancy trucks. Could be having so much horse power has it's own appeal. America after all is a melting pot of different opinions and points of view. How we each define "THE BEST", is not always true of our neighbor. So with that in mind let me define what the best of the best truck should in my opinon incorporate. #1 It should be strong enough to do it's intended job. #2 It should be able to withstand the work environment with only minimal upkeep. #3 It should make it's operator comfortable and keep him/her safe. #4 It must be ready to work when there is work and not needing repair daily. #5 It must return to it's owner many times over the money that was invested in it's purchase. #6 It should be versatile to do many jobs if it is retired from it's original job. #7 It should inspire confidence that it will get the job done no matter what. #8 It must be built to last . #9 It must do more than it was designed to do, unfailing. #10 It must stand the test of time. I believe because I know that a MACK TRUCK is all this and more. I consider it a pleasure to drive a MACK TRUCK.

From left to right. Uncle Bob, Dad, Uncle E.D.. They were standing in front of the house Dad lived in at one time. and his old Ford F-350. Uncle E.D. is also one of my heros he helped me study to take the entrance exam to attend the truck driving program at South Georgia Tech. in Americus Ga. . Dad and Uncle E.D. were very close even in the day when my Dad was an alcoholic. Liver/Pancreatic cancer followed by diabetes cured Dad of the DRINK. He lived anouther 12 years but his health steadily declined.

This is my Dad. He wasn't in my life for many years after my parents divorced. He is my greatest hero because He was the first adult to ever apologise to me for something he did that hurt my feelings. That is an awsome feeling,I hope that he understood how much that meant to me. He also taught me the values of honesty and hard honest work. He taught me loyalty and how to be polite. He taught me no matter what, a man is only as good as his word and that a hand shake was your bond. From about the age of 15 I lived with my Dad and in just a few years He turned a wayward slacker into a responsible young man. He never had to woop me he only had to look at me or say my name with that gravely voice. He was respected by everyone who knew him especially by the people he worked for. If he was doing a job his employers just stepped back out of the way and let him do it his way with zero supervision. He always finished when it was RIGHT and not before.
  14. Are simply put America at her best. Ever hear the words built like a pete or built like a k-whopper or built like a (GOD forbid) built like a frieghtliner? NO!!! Why is that, because there is only one . They are "Built like a MACK TRUCK" That simple statment is part of the American experience. Check out the sports headlines any given weekend during football season, someone somewhere got flattened or run over by A BIG MACK TRUCK. If a product has an outstanding reputation for reliability it is compared to a MACK TRUCK. MACK is the gold standard by which every thing else is compared. Everything from the additional locks of the Panama Canal to Hoover Damn to the World Trade Center were built using the Bulldog Mack. The Bulldog MACK's are not the fastest or fanciest or the most elegant, most of the time anyway, they're just the BEST. I have driven at one time or anouther most of the competition, The best day of my life even after three years , was the day I bought my first MACK TRUCK. I have had a few problems along the way no doubt, the truck now has 847,000 miles on her and things wear out. However compared to the trucks I have driven, there is no comparison. The only time she has ever let me down was not the trucks fault it was a mechanics fault. I had to have a new cam installed and when they reassembled the engine they over torqed the bolts on the harmonic balancer and a week later the balancer broke the bolts and fell off. Now here comes the other reason I love MACK TRUCKS, the dealer recognized they had screwed up and stood behind their warranty. 1OO% parts and labor. They paid for everything including the tow bill. That is the only time my truck has ever been on a hook. Keep on MACK trucking. Enough said. Matt Allbritton
  15. god bless our fallen, they sacrificed there tomorrows for our today.
  16. McOZ that is one mean looking BULLDOG. kEEP THE DIRTY SIDE DOWN AND KEEP ON TRUCKING. MATT
  17. KELMACK I HAD A CAM PUT INTO MY 01 CX-613 VISION ALSO BACK IN 07. They told me I need to have an overhead run every 100,000 miles however alot of others on here recommend every 50,000. It cost me 6400.00 for the cam bearing kit, new bolts in the exhaust manifold and to have the heads pressure checked and have all the freeze plugs replaced. Warnig make sure they DO NOT REUSE THE BOLTS FOR THE HARMONIC BALANCER/MAIN CRANK PULLEY. A week after I got the truck back the harmonic balancer broke all the bolts and fell off. Now the dealer paid to have me towed and for all parts and labor....GOD BLESS MACK TRUCKS AND NEXTRANS of Birmingham, AL. . However it shouldn't have been necessary.By the way double check that they tighten every thing back and didn't leave any bolts out . I had one bolt missing on an A/C bracket and the air cleaner mount was loose as well as 2 or 3 hose clamps. Good luck. P.S. my truck has a 427 E-TECH ECONODYNE.
