  1. I'm in love with you baby and I don't even know your name. Can I get one of her for my truck???
  2. Hello eveyone, I have noticed that alot of members are restoring or have restored older trucks on the site. However not many put descriptions along with the photos they post. I'm not gripping after all the goal is to get the truck up and running. However I and alot of the other members would LOVE to know HOW you did it. I myself have never rebuilt a vehical from the ground up or any other way. I think it is cool watching the progress and I would enjoy commentary on the work as it progresses. Now days there is YOUTUBE and Facebook and all kinds of other sites for sharing our passions with the world I think it would be great if we could do that here. I know if my dad were still alive that I would record every little project we did together so that I could enjoy it for years to come. Any way I hope to read all the stories everyone has to tell. Matt
  3. Mackkid you may need to send barry a pm if you haven't gotten a response yet...good luck. matt
  4. Well Ihave always been over the road and have always had to have the D.O.T. physical. As a matter of fact I got a notice that my 2 year runs out next month and I had better get it done. The company automatically starts sending these little reminders out about a month before they are due....I'm glad they do because I might forget and Pappa bear may not be to happy with me. Doom on you D.O.T.
  5. Mike I'm glad to have you back cause they have been so whinny with out you here. Welcome home. Matt
  6. From the album: TRUCKING ACROSS THE U.S.A.

This hose blew out on me tuesday 8/4/09. it split right down the middle and man what a rackit. I thought I had blown the ole girl up. Well believe it or not a little duct tape and away I went again. The heat melted the glue and made a little bit of a mess but I didn't find any on the inside of the pipe when I replaced both of the hoses on the HOT side.
  7. From the album: TRUCKING ACROSS THE U.S.A.

The passenger side of my Bulldog's motor. Nothing fancey here all buisness. Note the two new hose pieces on the turbo to charge air cooler. The one nearest the turbo blew out on 8/4/09 and sounded like the hounds of hell until I got her off the road and found out what was going on.
  8. From the album: TRUCKING ACROSS THE U.S.A.

This is the driver side of my 01 Vision's 427 E-Tech econodyne engine.
  9. From the album: TRUCKING ACROSS THE U.S.A.

In this picture you can see the small end of the blue hose coming out from behind the filters and going up to the thermastat housing just above the water pump. The brightly rusted steel pipe behind it is also part of the retro fit kit.
  10. From the album: TRUCKING ACROSS THE U.S.A.

The blue hose in this picture was part of an upgrade kit recommended by Mack to keep the engine cooler. The sleel line at the bottom comes off the bottom of the radiator and runs up to the oil cooler. However as you can see the "new" blue hose branches off and goes up to the thermastat housing where on older engines the water conditioner canister would be.
  11. The only time my 01 Vision has ever run that hot was when I pulled 47000 pounds of copper up an 8% grade just south of Globe Arizona. Later I had to replace the oil cooler and the dealer said there was an upgrade kit I needed to help keep it from running hot. here are some pictures compare to your truck...mine is an E-tech 427 econodyne. Good luck . P.S. everything without paint is new. The oil cooler and the metal pipe plus the blue silacone hose is the add on parts. my truck does not have a water conditioner filter I have to add conditioner packets to the water.
  12. I feel for rowdy wasn't long ago that I replaced my clutch too. While I was at it I also had the rear main seal replaced, the flywheel resurfaced, new pilot and throw out bearings installed ,as well as the clutch dog and the clutch cable replaced. The bushing where the pin for the cable attaches on the clutch dog was completely wore out and the spring broke when they took it off so I had them replace it all. I would have them check the cluth dog arm and spring. The cable looked fine but years ago while I was helping a buddy put a clutch in a very old "R" model and while adjusting it the cable let go so I had it replaced simply as a precaution. Good luck. matt
  13. Well I do care what Mack Employees feel concerning my comments...I do not want to make thing worse for them. However I have sent several E-mails to volvo and have Never received a response...and yes I can write a respectful letter ...even to volvo. They do not give a damn what the customer wants or needs unless it concerns a volvo truck. Many options that come standard on volvo over the road tractors you simply can not get on a Mack. They can't stand the competetion even in their own company. I saw brand new Mack PINNACLE TRACTORS pulling for Tyson foods this week ...I haven't seen that in years. Maybe Tyson realised that the volvos are junk. First volvo talks Tyson into a sweet deal if Tyson buys volvo for their O.T.R. fleet and takes one of Mack's biggest O.T.R. customers...Well now we have come full circle and Tyson has come back To MACK after being conned into buying that junk. Let's all hope volvo hasn't screwed MACK up as bad as their junk.
  14. They don't call em VULGERVO for nothing....pooor little fishes. Peta will get you for such as that.
  15. Guys last year when I was trying to spec out a new truck the dealer couldn't get the truck speced out the way I wanted because the factory wouldn't do it that way. I wanted a 70 inch highrise sleeper with the stack on the side like the ch Rawhide..no go. So I said how about the midroof and side mounted stacks but I need double bunks ....and again they said no (Remember this factory rep was at volvo's New River Va. plant) However I could buy a vulgervo mid roof with double bunks they said. I told them I would rather have a Mack daycab. Hell they tried to get me to change my mind on the total Mack drive line...I said no Mack Drive line no sale. I wanted the Maxitorque 18 speed and the S440 rears with 3.63 ratio. Plus the Mack AL-40 airride...and I suppose unless I got a glider kit I would have had to put that P.O.S. vulgervo motor in it. Thank god I didn't get it. With the way freight is right now I probably have lost it. Matt
  16. Well fellas I clicked on the first link that Mack 3P put up and I left a comment. I think that the PEOPLE of MACK need to know we the customers of Mack Trucks think that volvo's stupid move has not gone unnoticed and that we do not agree with it. Of coarse the people of Allentown, Pa. also need to know that We the customer don't agree either. Matt P.S. Make that two comments, I had to clarify to some folks with short term memories that Mack Trucks was at the time volvo bought them a wholly owned subsidiary of Renault of France andalso the the president of Mack Trucks is Dennis Slagle former C.E.O. of Volvo's construction equipment line. In other words a volvo drone. NOT A MACK MAN...A VULGERVO DRONE.
  17. I'll bet 3P smiled while he typed that in. HK I AGREE TOTALLY, they should discontinue the whole vulgurvo line....starting with the name. Matt
  18. LMACKATTACK YOU CAN SAY THAT AGAIN. I don't think they are very proud of owning Mack did you see how small and secluded the entrance was? Up Yours volvo. matt
  19. WHY I KNOW MACK TRUCKS ARE THE GREATEST TRUCKS ON THE PLANET. I'm sortta ticked off today after seeing the photo's that 3P put up. SO I figured I would rant alittle...but no that won't help matters . It would only depress me further. So what would help me and hopefully you the reader feel just a little better. So here goes. I am an Owner Operator and I CHOSE MACK to be my ride. I chose a MACK truck because they are the toughest trucks on the planet. I MATT ALLBRITTON chose MACK trucks because mack knows how to build the truck that will deliver what was promised when I purchased it. It has and it does deliver as promised. I have only required a tow once in the three years that I have owned MY MACK TRUCK. The problem wasn't even a failure on the trucks part.... A mechanic screwed up when I DROVE it to the dealer to have it worked on. I had to have athe CAM replaced and the mechnic either over tightened the bolts on the harmonic balancer or left them loose, anyway it came off. Well being that it was a Mack dealer they paid to have it towed as well as they paid 100% of the parts and labor to have it fixed. Mack keeps their word, that alone is astounding. For as a trucker being lied to is as ordinary as breathing. I know that alot of the guys and gals on here simply collect and restore old Mack trucks....Thank God for you all. However I make my living driving one everyday that there is freight to be had. I have to trust my MACK to take me and bring me day in and day out. She does too. If you are a driver and don't own or atleast drive a Mack for a living you are truely missing one hell of an experience. I own a 2001 MACK Vision with an 80" Millineum sleeper (highrise) she has an E-TECH 427 Econodyne MACK engine a 10 speed o.d. Eaton and 3.70 eaton rears on Mack airride suspention. The integrated cab sits on two huge airbags as well. She ain't the fastest or the fanciest but by God she gets the job done. East coast, west coast , Rocky's or the Appalations from flat ground to the 8% grades near Globe Az. From 480 pounds to 48,000 pounds my BULLDOG MACK does it all day every day. I have been over Mont Eagle in Tennesse, Cabbage in Oregon, Fancey gap in N.C., to Lookout Mtn. here in Ga. Maybe not as fast as those folks driving around with the BIG motors but I got the job done and have never regretted my choice. All the controls in my vision are located within easy reach and require very little effort to use. This truck is a true lazy man's truck. The only thing I would change if I had the money is get rid of the eaton rears and tranny and replace them with an all Mack drive line and of coarse uprate the Econodyne to a Maxicruise or maybe even a Maxidyne. For anyone out there who may not understand the differance here is my understanding. Econodyne=smaller torque range for best possilbe fuel milage R.P.M.s range between 1200 to 1700 ,highway use. Maxicruise=slightly longer torque range and R.P.M.s from 1200 to 1900 for good fuel milage and better power, interstate full load. Maxidyne= full power profile from 1100 to 2100 R.P.M.s with the longest torque, power curve of all, Max torque and horse power at 1200rpms, offroad or severe duty where max power is a must. True grunt power. Will I ever buy anouther MACK TRUCK? the answer is you damn right. I have been a truck driver for over thirteen years and have driven everything but a sterling, Nothing does the job day in and day out like this Mack. The comfort power durability manuverability and ease of operation I need to do my job are all embodied in this truck. However there is anouther angle to that same question...Will I buy a volvo with a MACK cab and sleeper????? I doubt it. I would like to know if the "CORNERSTONE" chassis is a true MACK chassis and if so I probably will. Word to the Wise your local dealer will lie like hell and tell you that the new M.P. engines are a Mack volvo co-engineered design.. !!!! THEY ARE VOLVO ENGINES AND THAT IS THE TRUTH. If they will LIE to your face what will they do behind your back. The new MACK road tractors use a volvo chassis check out the new trucks at a dealership and read the name on all the componants volvo volvo everywhere. Their trucks have the lowest resale value of any truck out there and apparantly they want Mack to have the same CRAPPY reputation. Don't believe me try to trade one in on a new truck at a volvo dealer. Or check out the price of one in any truck sales paper. Pure junk. Matt Allbritton A.K.A. MACKDADDY1911A1
  20. I'LL SAY IT AGAIN I HATE VOLVO. FOREVER. matt
  21. If I were you I'd call your local Mack dealer to find out the PSI of the boost. Good luck. Matt
