I copied spec sheets for you. They do not give housing thickness, but they do show minor differences, so they are not the same. Don't know where that 53 number came from. From what I've seen, unless you need certification for some reason, or if you are going to do some extreme heavy haul, I don't see a problem. (Now for the fine print, just my humble opinion, and you know what an opinion is worth ---- whatever you paid for it) doc075.pdf doc076.pdf

Who designed/styled the Superliner?
daveigou replied to sodly's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
The Brockway used a Mack cab, so it's halfway there. The story that makes the most sense to me was there was a segment of truck business Mack was missing out on, the high horsepower over the road market. I heard that then CEO Hanson left his engineers know in no uncertain terms they needed to come up with an offering that went head to head in that 400 horsepower and up market, and would accommodate vender engine choices, so they answered with the Superliner. The basic configuration, a cab with an engine room out front, it is what it is. Not trying to rain on Brockway's parade, I too am sad to see Brockway's demise, but there may be other reasons. -

I've seen the pictures and heard the arguments, but you start with a big frontal opening, a big box over the engine, there's only so many ways to do it, is it really that much different than a GMC General or a 4300 International? -

Does anybody know where the yellow Superliner is located? Ad says Pennsylvania. I can't imagine if you have a piece like this, asking big money, that it very well may be worth, and put together such a piss poor ad as that.

It is a B72. There were two floating around at one time, I don't know what happened to the other. I believe they came out of Lukens Steel in Coatesville, they were just used in the mill, then a junk man around New Holland got them. Unfortunately they seemed to have really lived a hard life. Probably were low miles, I never heard either one of them run.

b model rear end ratios
daveigou replied to mackmb212's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Rudy, here is some info that may be helpful. The CRD 112 / 113 carriers were made until relatively recently, although there may be some differences. I know the ratios are different, maybe the axle shafts, maybe the way the torque rods mount. Other model carriers may be interchangeable, I don't know, maybe somebody else on here would know. Our Superliner (1988) was built with 112 /113 series carriers (4.64 ratio) and were replaced by lower GCWR 92 / 93 series. doc348.pdf doc349.pdf
