  1. OD,you should have gone N on 15 to St Mary's and got me a case of Straub! They must periodically refinish that Peach on I85 it looks as good today as it did in the 80s and 90s! It's been in the 90s with similar humidity every day here for over a month! Know how you feel about untarping in the summer! When I was hauling foam insulation from La Grange Ga to Miami after Hurricane Andrew there was a Cuban kid about 15 that would untarp your load and roll your tarps and put them on your trailer for 10 dollars! The loads came in all day for 6mos! So he did pretty well! Was sure worth 10 bucks to me! That looks like a solid DM!
  2. I saw a video on u tube video of a " trucking journalist" promoting the m drive he took a very clean B model single axle tractor for a short drive out of the Allentown plant it had a compound, duplex I think, I wasn't impressed with his split shifting unaware that he was promoting the M drive! Why didn't he take out a more modern tractor like a 5 speed maxidyne or 10 speed Mack which are easier to drive? I didn't see the M drive road test as I was only interested in seeing the B model test drive!
  3. Daily my favorite is the the white single axle B61!
  4. I never knew his first name!
  5. Truck Shop it just hit me "mine was taller" the old brain is working slow at the moment!
  6. Have heard of the "war wagon" haven't seen it!
  7. "The Cowboys" did I get the title right? Where he goes on a cattle drive with a bunch of little kids, and they become men! Truck Shop I was referring to "The outlaw Josie Wales" when Chief Dan George asks Josie how he knew which one. To shoot first "the one on the left had scared eyes, the one in the middle had crazy eyes" Dan asks Josie "What about the other one?" "Well I had you" he replies!😁 Also liked "The man who shot Liberty Valance" with Jimmy Stewart and Lee Marvin! Good stuff!
  8. Lost my post,Gray hair, to continue I would tighten the Strap so they couldn't Jimmy the lock and get in while I was sleeping! The guy that told me about the tanker also said a New York policemen told him If you shoot a criminal roll the body off on the side and leave! Politically incorrect for sure!

  9. How'd you know which one to shoot first? Loved it!
  10. Bradman, maybe Ga Dave has some info for you he's an expert on fire trucks! But the sale date makes it pretty tough! Good luck!
  11. Well this apprentice thief somehow missed the whole point of the deal! There was a tanker going into Hunts point with the reefer driver behind him and the apprentice jumped on the tanker with his hammer and refrigerant! The tanker pulled out before the apprentice could realize his mistake, and he was stuck on the tankers ladder! The reefer driver got the tanker driver on the radio and they called 911 and slowly ran a couple red lights until the police could apprehend the "apprentice" LOL😁 I think 41 used to haul into there and had some interesting stories! I was told that the local police told drivers to run the lights( if there was no cross traffic!) Hunts Point has been fenced for years to prevent thieves from breaking into trailers! I've delivered in the S Bronx, with a flatbed but never pulled reefer.
  12. Happy birthday Gray hair! After reading the news (which included 2 sociopaths who stole a 94 year old man's electric scooter while he was in the pharmacy!) For some odd reason I thought of a funny story about an apprentice thief from the days before Hunts Point market was fenced,I've told this one before but I think It bears repeating! I never pulled reefer, but a driver who did told me this one! The standard routine in the "market" was the driver stops at a red light, and the thief jumps on the back of his trailer with a 3 pound hammer and a can of refrigerant he sprays the loop on the padlock to freeze and weaken it and smacks the padlock with the hammer! It will usually break, and the thief and his pal grab a couple boxes of produce to sell on the street
  13. TD,cool tractor,is the steering gearbox above the tire or on the drivers end of the drag link? I'm guessing it's above the tire!
  14. Also if the passenger side airbag is unsafe why aren't all the steering wheel airbags unsafe ? Unless the steering wheel airbag is somehow resistant to moisture! Or are they just saying to only not use the passenger seat to avoid having to totally disable the car! What if a person has only one car and needs to go to work and so on!
  15. Interesting isn't it that vw has to buy back the diesels that were modified to pass emissions, but the companies who installed the proven deadly air bags don't have to do anything! The latest thing I read was that some of these cars also have steering wheel air bags by takata! This effectively disables the car, unless you want to risk death ! Why doesn't the govt take enough money from takatas fine to render the cars ( of whatever make) safe to drive!
  16. Awesome Horse! I love the interior color, always hated the tan color of the Rs and Us interiors of the late 60s,70s! I hauled steel with! I think most Aussies and Brits are genetically evolved to be left handed or ambidextrous!
  17. Glad they're mostly o/o! Heard many years ago that Passport was sold and were going to be a company fleet but apparently not according to their recent ad in Hemmings, loved their tricked out old school autocars!
  18. Not just trucking David, just a general lack of personal responsibility in every occupation! The first group of union drivers I ever worked with in a 50 driver terminal were among the best I've ever worked with they taught me to load cars ( in an occupation where there is a 70 percent washout rate!) Any time you asked a question someone would go out of their way to help you! 1974! Everything went by seniority including equipment! But their oldest trucks were safely maintained! I became a freight car repairman on the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie RR also union, with a few notable exceptions the laziest most irresponsible group of people I've ever met! Got laid off permanently in 1981,went back to trucking til 1987 went back to car hauling,Leaseway Motorcar,Dundalk Md . We had a deal called half rate backhaul! Gotta take my granddaughter to the doctor, get back to ya!
  19. Billy T to Billy T, Sure hope that driver in San Antonio doesn't have an aversion to needles! Shouldn't have gotten caught in Texas dude!
  20. Pretty "Bull Rack" in American vernacular! Did I spell that right!😁 I was walking thru a truck stop once as a driver was checking his load of hogs! Big boar peed all over him! Learned some new words that day!LOL
  21. Same problems, different country! My daughter has Netflix and she has the latest episode of outback truckers, can't wait t watch it!
  22. Heavy Gunner,I forget the length of I 95 thru Rhode Island but it's short and curvy! A real moneymaker eh!😁
  23. Bet the bridge inspectors will be out in force on that one and the DOT man will get a promotion!😁 Is anyone old enough to remember in 74 I think it was when the B model Mack dragged a 100,000 lb payload across the Ohio Tpke and broke several bridges? There was another classic where an Anchor Motor Freight car hauler burnt to the ground on a bridge the same year! I get the two mixed up but either the Ohio Trpke or I 80 in Ohio, I remember the lane restrictions and detours while they repaired the bridges!
  24. KSB, a great deal of thrashing around in the industry to avoid ever stricter emissions compliance and computer logs! When I drove for Leaseway Motorcar in 87 they were coming off the largest hours of service violation in history! 500k fine! A slap on the wrist today! Drivers were logging 700 miles a day on the east coast in a 55mph truckLOL! Predictably the company having been chastised then went the other way,we were only allowed to log 480 miles on the old 10 hrs log! "Always changing never changing" as Overdrive used to say! I'm surprised none of the members have commented on the nearly incomprehensible debacle in San Antonio! The drivers latest comment in the Tampa paper this morning "I didn't know there was anyone in the trailer"! That 300" Pete doesn't ride that well! That dude makes Pol Pot look like a humanitarian! Most of us remember the situation in Victoria Tx in 2003! Wish I was on the road to hear the cb chatter!
