  1. Nice bumper,do you have a matching right side mirror or didn't Gus come with one? Would make him more symmetrical! Also prevent some idiot from sneaking around you on right!
  2. Always thought Jimmy C. Was a good person, but his deregulation probably cost me a ton of money!, on the road, and in retirement!
  3. I used to pull a step deck with ramps with a single axle MH was the. Best riding Cabover I ever drove! Was spring ride too!
  4. I agree the majority of family t.s that went T/A went downhill! The old t.s at exit 37 in El Paso had a great mexican restaurant Bonitas, cleanest place I've ever been in! Flying J took over and that was that! Flying Js'buffet I tends to be above average but most of the family owned places are better! The worst culinary mistake I ever made was to eat blue cheese dressing on a salad bar at the TA just east of Casa Grande Az,late in the evening!, must have sat since lunch! So three days later I'm hitting a dock in San Antonio, and projectile vomiting out the window! Was sick all the way to Laredo what a deal!😁
  5. There was a B model hauling steel around Pittsburgh pa with a 318 Detroit in the 70s musta been a tight fit! Had the unmistakable skinny twin stacks!
  6. Kinda amusing, the co driver in the G Cabover is wearing a tie! I've only seen one truck driver wearing a tie,was a Newcastle Battery driver in the early eighties! I drove for their competitor AC Delco we delivered auto and commercial batteries in beverage trailers with roll up doors.
  7. Carlot, have you ever heard of the infamous tornado that leveled the town of Zenia Oh in 1974 was August I think! Well I was coming out of southern Ohio with a load of Firebrick going to US Steel.in Braddock Pa, and I came within 15 mi of that town on I 71, maybe an hour before the tornado! Was one of those days with an ominous looking sky like you knew something was coming!I dodged two bullets that day! They got me 1500 lb over on the drive at the scale and the young Officer asked me if I could slide the fifth wheel and make it legal,I said it wasn't a slider (it was) and he let me go!😁 I just didn't want that weight on the manual steering! Was an old R model!
  8. LFD 1935, from all the articles I've read the ethanol gas is harder on carbureted engines! I'd run non eth. And a stabilizer like stabil! I have a Isuzu p.u with a Weber non emissions carb and all the emissions devices removed and I use ethanol gas and Lucas additive, runs perfect for ten yrs haven't had the carb apart!
  9. Happy.birthday!
  10. Mower man didn't Sierra Sids used to be Bill and Effies years ago? I've been in both places but can't remember when it changed hands! The Seminole and Miccasaukie tribes have all the gambling in Florida Hard Rock Casino etc.
  11. Yep Fxfym, it's a "tax on the poor" can't count the times I've seen a person from the "projects" the only one apparently with a car buying Florida lottery tickets for dozens of the other residents!
  12. Beautiful "sidewinder" and R model! Didn't know you could get a 413 mopar in a Mack! How about a u 400 with a 413 cross ram😁 just dreamin'!
  13. As the holiday approaches I recall KSBs recent post about e logs and hours of service in general! In 2006 every trucker working for a major company had pictures and text concerning the Crete carrier driver in north Florida who fell asleep and pushed a minivan into a school bus killing 6children and an infant and injuring at least 3 children in the bus! The driver was running from the Nestle Waters plant locally and returning home to Jacksonville Florida each day! I heard he had been awake for 46 hrs without any " legal sleep" Crete hired two well known lawyers to defend him.Nothing against Crete, always a well respected company!,but fairly obvious they knew after the court was done with him the wrongful death lawsuits would be filed against them! He got seven years in a plea bargain!Potential 85 yrs if he lost in court! He had obviously cheated on his logs which basically absolves Crete of wrongdoing! According to him he made the proverbial "one more run" because he was afraid of losing the local run that let him be home with his wife and three kids! Claimed Crete pushed him to take the extra run! We will never know! I've pulled water out of that facility, may have even talked to him! So he made the wrong decision for the right reasons! From all indications he was a good family man, and now his life is ruined and the families of those 7 children's lives are ruined no good outcome from this except to remind all our members who are out there the implications when you sign that falsified log what the worse outcome could be! We've all cheated on our logs, I Damn sure have, but it's not worth it! Just my little safety message for us all have a safe forth of July!
  14. Just saw on the news a tractor trailer ran off the Chesapeake bay bridge! Apparently the driver survived the crash and climbed up on the tractor, but drowned when it went under, before help could arrive! Very sad situation! Possibly wind or icy roadway were a factor!
  15. I'm always amazed by how reasonably priced most antique retired fire equipment is! When they were so expensive new!
  16. The fire department in Greentree Pa (an affluent suburb of Pittsburgh) paints all their equipment a dark green with beautiful pinstriping and chrome impeccably maintained! Outbehind the barn is not far away from there!
  17. There was a B67 on Craigslist about a year ago and the seller said it was licensed as a camper and therefore required no cdl! It was a day cab with a tilt bed ( like a wrecker bed). I turned in my cdl three years ago.The dmv man said I could get it back (with all.endorsements) by taking a physical and eye test I'm sure I would also be charged the higher license fee and the individual endorsement fees. Back in the 70s Overdrive Magazine hauled a load of their magazines from their facility in LA to Washington D.C. and notified the ICC what they were doing and where the load was parked to prove that if you owned your load of freight you didn't have to log your trip! Mike Parkhurst was challenging the ICC to prosecute them and he would initiate a legal suit! The ICC didn't accept the challenge and no one was prosecuted! I gave this example to illustrate that you'd have to the proverbial "Philadelphia lawyer" to even remotely understand all the nuances of the law as it pertains to state and interstate commercial vehicle regulations! It occurs to me, do the drivers of race car transporters have to log their trips? They are carrying the team's cars and equipment. I'm sure the equipment is subject to DOT mechanical standards! And could be pulled over and DOTed! By an officer!
  18. FXFYM, I've had about five lbs of Canadian coinage for years from returning home when there was no parking at the lot where you exchange your currency at least for an 18 wheeler!
  19. I'll bet that the people who manufacture the slot machines know how to win on one! I will also bet that those same employees sign a written document forbidding them from "playing" the slots they build!
  20. JT Elvis married a whole lot of folks in Vegas!😁 I once read that there is some way to view the mechanism on the back of a slot machine and tell when it is ready to "hit"! However if that is true don't you think the " house" would put some kind of cover on the slot to hide the mechanism!? Either it is b.s. or so little known that it is not an issue! The real issue is knowing when to quit! Obviously enough people don't know when to quit that gambling remains a multi billion dollar business!
  21. I can believe that as the auxiliary axles scrub every time you turn, except when you dump them on a really tight turn! Thanks for the response!
  22. That's a "righteous looking horse" where's the "roo guard"
  23. I'll bet those twin steer outfits really go thru tires!
  24. Really shocking how the drivers face is more wrinkled on his left side! Is it possible he ran a dedicated route, perhaps across the desert where there was no shade to protect his face? I guess the Aussies and British drivers get most Sun on the right side! Well I guess the British blokes don't get as much sun as the Aussies! I checked in the mirror and both sides of my face are equally handsome...or not! LOL!
  25. Has nothing to do with business, but the Lonestar is my favorite of the high tech styled International tractors! Does it sell well?
