  1. Fxfymn, on a serious note, I saw the "helper" on the back of our local refuse contractors clinging to the handle on the back of the packer at 60mph on a four lane expressway! The thing has a little two ft step for him to stand on! Designed I'm sure for 10mph stops in local neighborhoods! I think the fire trucks have a safer place for them to stand on don't they? If that packers driver hit a bump or made a sudden move the helper would have been " gone" perhaps literally!
  2. Whaddya mean oversize!
  3. Being the anachronism that I am I have no idea what any of that stuff is😁 however I have noticed that U Tube doesn't work as well as it used to! I'm on an Amazon Kindle, I refuse to own a phone that's smarter than I am!
  4. Daily, I haven't seen this, but my daughter has Netflix so I can't wait to see it! The first thing I thought is I wonder how much " scripting" is involved! I quit watching "Ice Road" when I saw among other things the guy using the Jake on ice! I quit watching any of the street rod building shows because of the scripted b.s. drama! Overhauling is the worst! Chip Foose is a master craftsman, but only a few minutes are devoted to him doing metalwork! I finally figured out what's going on with these shows, 98percent of the general public has never held a wrench,a torch,a paint gun,or driven a semi,so they want to be entertained by the b.s. drama! Only 3 percent of Americans of driving age can drive a stick shift!, including I suspect a growing number of " semi jockeys"! Okay my rant is over, for now!
  5. Can't wait to see it with the doors and mirrors and the wheels painted!
  6. Maststewert, I forget the name of the K model video, I'm gonna look for it now,OD has seen it too! Over 30, forward gears!
  7. OK I see the one door in primer over against the wall!
  8. TD, ol' Gus is looking great! I hope you have a seat belt!, it would be a long fall to the ground! I assume you're still working on the doors. I see you have one of the good quality metal spinner knobs unlike the plastic junk they used to sell in the fifties and sixties!
  9. I've never seen a triplex with a two speed axle, but it is definitely possible! If you had one you would split the two sticks of the triplex one or two handed like you normally would, and shift the two speed with the button last ( or first) depending on the load or road conditions! It is fairly common to see a roadranger in combination with a "Brownie" a Brown Lipe auxiliary usually three speed especially in heavy haul applications! There has been a 1960 Diamond T on Craigslist in Brainard Minnesota with a ten speed RR, and a three speed Brownie for quite a while! Also a K model International with a RR and a Brownie on u tube! The driver with the K model has a video of him driving it in the Colorado mountains !
  10. I drove a B model dump with air assist (resembled the hydraulic cylinder the older Ford cars had only air ) steered nice but was local, and off road mostly! I can see the advantage of an on off switch like Hancocks Brockway!
  11. I'm not a fan of any of the "space age" styled truck designs, although I kinda liked the styling of the Lone star, too dramatic to ignore! I'm sure this truck will attract the type of driver the major carriers are looking to attract! I can envision some sort of fold down cushion to go where that troublesome shift lever used to go to make the cab a sleeper! It's probably wide enough to qualify as a legal sleeper berth! I seem to recall some provision in the DOT rules that say to legally log "sleeper berth" the cab had to be a certain width,I forget what that width was!
  12. What make is the little delivery truck?
  13. Where do they find these guys?
  14. "This is my rifle this is my gun, I shoot my rifle, I play with my gun!"
  15. Too cool! There are videos on u tube where guys have taken self propelled push mowers and converted them to riders by adding a steering front axle, look similar to that old Fairbanks Morse! Unsafe as can be but fun!
  16. Looks like the late 60s early 70s R model hood with the steel grille! Kinda looks like the steel grille shell is bolted to the original fibreglass hood! Would almost have to raise up to clear the bumper photos kinda dark! I too prefer single head lights with "road lights" Perluxe etc in or under the bumper! Is very unique,I like it!

    Updates

    Yep!
  18. This is a good technology if it functions as designed! Unlike straight road driving where proper following distance and defensive driving can prevent most accidents, even the most experienced driver can't see around a corner!
  19. Sad end of a beautiful tractor!....define "bird" L0L

Thanks Billy. Yeah he is devastated about it. He put a lot of time and money into it.

Its funny, you sorta become "mates" with your truck, or car, you give them names etcetera.

  20. Rarest of the rare! An LJ factory sleeper!
  21. I thought that Bucyrus Erie crane that used to sit off I 80 on the Ohio Pa line was big! This dwarfs it! I think it sat on the PA side, was used for stripping coal I think!
  22. Since this last post I saw a Buick ad on tv promoting the Envision, no mention where it was built! And Trump is complaining about cars built in Mexico!
  23. The swing out step was innovative,I was speaking of the potential for disaster!
  24. Anyone seen the "new" Miller Ironson die cast trucks made from nos parts from the 50s? Absolutely awesome! Pricey too,1100.00 up KW wrecker, LJ and B logging rigs, dumps etc! The quality is untouchable! I have a wrecker I got when I was 6! Am gonna order 2 new doors which are missing!
  25. Loved the old flathead caddys, The porcelain exhaust manifolds were one of a kind! My dad rebuilt a 48 wreck, I can still remember rubbing out the black lacquer! I was about 14! He wanted to keep it, but my mother said it looked too much like a hearse😁Nice work Matt! That's an antique welders hood!
