  1. Does it actually have that slanted front end or is the photo distorted ?
  2. KSB, there is an article in Car and Driver, featuring a hydrogen fueled semi, I just "skimmed" it Shows a condo cab road tractor, said to achieve 13 to 15 mpg! With a two speed automatic. The truck pictured is flying US Express livery are they involved or did they just permit their name to be used? Maybe you could look it up and post it for the members! Too much info for me to post. The overall figures look like this "clean truck" could compete with the latest diesels monetarily!
  3. Considering the reputation of the silver 92, perhaps service in a military vehicle with a lifespan of a year or less is ideal!
  4. Wobblin, thats a great looking B! Needs to stay on the road! The first B I drove was a 711 with a triplex a dump.similar to yours! Keep us posted on progress!
  5. High binder, that is exactly what I mean! Like the viser as well! The engine doesn't matter,I've driven a lot of Detroit's, just like the sound!
  6. Right in Other Dogs " neck of the woods" I used to spend the night in the Food Lion market parking lot off 29 in Lynchburg in the early 2000s pure country, no noticeable gang presence! MS 13 is the worst of the worst! Just saw the video of the stroke who hit the church bus in Texas weaving all over the road, looked like a dually PU!
  7. In the early eighties when the steel industry left America there was a govt. Training program for those who lost jobs in the steel industry. You could get four years of college,or training in many skilled trades, including truck driver training! What about training for those whose jobs were " offshored in manufacturing and other fields.Perhaps train.former coal miners in trades that are involved in rebuilding our roads, bridges and dams, like welding masonry ...and so forth! I keep hearing that the construction industry has a critical shortage of skilled tradespersons! Not everyone has the aptitude or interest to be a college graduate! My late friend and co driver was an an accountant at US Steel Research in Monroeville PA.He went to truck driving school on the program I mentioned! A little known factoid...Monroeville is said to have been a planned community for members of the Pittsburgh mob! Built in the early fifties.
  8. The first thing I thought ,Mrs MP. Was the drivers running the road trains in the outback could use this option, not surprising they've already thought of it!
  9. OD, I've been in all those little t.s.,used to haul cab and chassis to Magic City Motors in Salem Va! Old true story...you never park on the corner or end of the row if you can avoid it! I don't even do that in a shopping center with my pickup! You always bring back good memories!
  10. I'm rolling on the Damn.floor๐Ÿ˜ I've got a really clean Yugo, wonder if she'd be interested?
  11. A friend of my wife used to be an assistant chef at the Greenbriar,I once saw a video of the underground city beneath it! Said to be able to sustain over a hundred people for several.months! My feelings on that..if all of us know about it our enemies do too! I'll bet there is another secret place for our leaders to go that our enemies MAY not know about! Anyone ever see that bunker that JFK had near the Kennedy compound in west Palm beach Florida?
  12. Back to the high binder p.u, I believe it should have " period" mirrors off the door hinges or rounded west coasters ( like the mack ones, only plain!) With custom brackets putting them closer to the cab! One thing the builder did right was leave the cab and fenders stock, but the late model mirrors mess up the "look."
  13. Patina belongs on rat rods! I spent too many hours of my youth repairing rust and hand rubbing lacquer to make it shiny to like patina! I would prefer the high binder as a single axle tractor with daytons and a 318 Detroit with a 4 by4 or 13 speed! I actually like the little pickup, looks factory! Like the wheels, hope it's not an automatic, but the majority of street rods are! There was an article recently in Street Rodder a well known painter devoted the whole article showing how to f up a clean 57 Chevy by enhancing its patina! Instead of wet sanding it down to 1000 grit and putting a nice shiny paint job on it! Just my opinion!
  14. Mike, you did change the ย fluid, filter and screen right? ย They didn't just suck out the fluid and check it,I'm assuming they did, I don't recall the c6 ย having a drain plug!

I'll bet whoever put that pickup under the dry van backed off the brakes with a wrench! wouldn't want to take it down Donner! A guy I used to know had a 3500 Dodge, early 5.9 had a set of professionally fabricated 28 ft doubles (flatbed) hydro/vac brakes I think pulled oversize plastic tanks! You'd have to see it, looked like a miniature set of pups! 41, it'd take ten minutes for the air to get to the last pup on that "Buster Brown" rig! Be fun to take it out on the highway and pull in a scale (Banning) as long as you had bail money๐Ÿ˜

  18. Another unnecessary and controversial traffic crash resulting in three fatalities was in the paper today! " Girls mom's plan to sue over deaths" Dominique.Battle 16, and Ashaunti Butler and Laniya Miller, both 15 died on March 31,2016 when the stolen Honda accord they were driving plunged into a cemetery pond! The sheriff's office said said it ceased pursuit when the Honda drove off at high speeds! First responders entered the pond but stopped when they hit deep muck. The sheriff's office used the three girls to highlight a juvenile auto theft epidemic in Pinellas county.Between them the three girls had racked up seven grand theft auto arrests! The parents of these children allege the first responders didn't try hard enough to save the girls after they crashed their stolen car! I'd like the members opinions on the issues I've posted! Perhaps the girls parents should sue themselves!where were they when they should have been teaching their children right from wrong?
  19. What a bonus! I've seen drivers in truck stops with little woks and charcoal grills, but not too good in rain or cold!
  20. Od, there used to be a great diner on Neville Island called Ginos probably long gone was on Island Ave! I used to go across the Island to get to my job.in ...McKees Rocks every day! Houston is one of the most humid places on earth! Or maybe help the guy roll his tarps!
  21. Astute observations Red Horse! The implications of 19th century roads in 21 century America are many and varied! I've never seen paved roads replaced by gravel! Normally paved roads are repaired or replaced, and unpaved roads are either repaired or paved! Our infrastructure nationwide is in dangerously poor condition bridges and dams in particular! The repair or replacement of these structures could create thousands of jobs if properly handled! Many have suggested a WPA type system like during the great depression. Looks good on paper, but if you talk to the old timers who were there they will tell you it was an inefficient and corrupt system! The guys who were part of it lived in rudimentary barracks and most of their small wage was sent home to their families to pay for basic necessities! Much better than being homeless and starving , but it wouldn't work today without some modifications! I have to take " the boss" shopping but I'll return whether you like it or not later๐Ÿ˜

  23. WOW! KSB you've nailed it again! Prior to reading this post I was going to report a plethora of articles in the Tampa Bay Paper that relate to truckers, transportation, and overall highway safety! First the refuse drivers in St Petersburg Florida are forced to drive and work in and around trucks that are equipped with cameras that record their every move dashcams and cameras all around the trucks! The company says there are so many accidents involving packers they are forced to protect themselves! The drivers say it invades their privacy and makes them nervous,as the cameras are in the cab as well as outside the truck! I say enough!! Train your drivers better in safety and respect their judgement! How about take whatever it costs to install cameras and create a fund and give a cash award to all drivers who don't have a chargeable accident! Give a yearly award! We all understand the companies concerns! The cameras say to the drivers " we don't really trust your skills" it creates an adversarial relationship between the companies and the drivers! As we speak, the union and the company are discussing the matter! All the members have surely heard about about the tragic crash near San Antonio Tx. Between a pickup and a church bus that killed 12 people! Well the p.o.s who drove the pickup just apologized to the victims families... he was TEXTING when he caused the crash! Pretty darn sure his apology was upon the advice of his attorney (s) That old "show remorse" thing, right? A few thoughts...several previous news reports said it was a TRUCK/bus crash! A pickup is not a truck period! Today's report said pickup truck! A pickup is not a truck period! The only good thing about this tragedy is it happened in Texas! Can't wait to see what twelve counts of vehicular homicide and reckless driving bring in Texas! He was seen drifting out of his lane before the crash, hence the reckless driving charge! On the subject of cameras vs mirrors, while cameras cover a wider area, mirrors are foolproof unlike cameras which are a mechanical device! Therefore I don't feel mirrors should be totally eliminated on any vehicles, although we have seen several class eight prototypes which have cameras only! As I was writing this post a news report showing FHPs new stealth cruiser came on! Fascinating! The markings on the car are like the "Ghost flames" on a street rod! They "disappear" in daylight, but show up clearly at night when lights hit them! The news report was shown from the troopers dashcam as a corrola passes him at 83 mph (in a 55 zone) and doesn't slow down because he doesn't know he.passed a police car ๐Ÿ˜ Ever notice that the motorists driving recklessly are often in the vehicle least able to handle well "at speed"
  24. Hancock, looks like the Plymouth is a basic Dodge stamping badged as Plymouth, like the Plymouth and Hudson Pu!
