  1. Dignity for OD !! LOL 😁
  2. Most tri-axle dumps in Florida have the tag in front. On most of the heavier spec'd units, the tag is steerable. However in Florida, as hatcity can attest, the sandy soil makes it easy to get stuck! So a tag behind the drive needs to be "dumped" if backing into sandy soil to dump! I drove a B model single axle with a rear tag (an ex-road tractor) dumping into house pads, you had to crank it thru the compound in reverse and dump the tag the second it left the pavement or you would get stuck! Of course with a full screw locked in, you had more traction!
  3. Would like to see a polished aluminum Autocar grille on the channeled R model! Maybe with a bulldog hood ornament!
  4. The dent free body speaks volumes! Solid truck!
  5. Nice looking "sidewinder" probably low mileage too!
  6. If that KW runs and drives its a bargain!
  7. If it's as nice underneath as externally it's worth the price! Look at the scrap they're asking that kind of money for in the collector car field ramblers four.... ..door Fairmont etc! How many straight rust free Diamond Ts are left!? Of course my first truck was a Diamond T so I'm biased!
  8. Brutal looking ram from Amish country!
  9. Interesting, very " space age" looking fleet! I've always wondered how LNG would do In a big truck! As I understand the gas engined LNG medium duty conversion trucks lose up to 20percent of their hp! I'm guessing these Scanias have "purpose built" LNG engines! What are their hp and torque specs? They certainly wouldn't need all the computerized nonsense that diesel trucks need to meet emissions standards! The stuff burns clean to begin with! Also the engines produce much less carbon internally so the components and lubricants would have to last longer!
  10. Hated to see what " Black Widow" did to that Brockway!
  11. Bandags are funny,if they don't throw the caps in the first couple weeks they tend to hold up really well, I think it has a lot to due with the glueing process, but I agree 10 yr old casings might be questionable especially if you run heavy!
  12. Beautiful Brigadier with GMC and Chevy bowtie! How did that happen? Mistake? When I was hauling new Ford's in the late 70s was fairly common to get a Ford Fairmont with Fairmont on one fender and Zephyr on the other! Also had a few pickups with F150 on one fender and F250 or F350 on the other! Maybe built on a Monday! In the 80s I drove a few Brigadiers with 671 Detroit's and those gawdawful straight 7speeds,slowest truck I ever drove! Anchor Motor Freight had recently gotten the largest fine for log violations to date, so they governed the trucks at 55, and we were required to log no more than 480 miles per day! Prior to the fine drivers were logging 700 miles per day! ( define optimist)! We had one Brigadier with a 20 speed Spicer air shift behind a 671 with a blower and a turbo! ( Some early fuel economy experiment) Nobody wanted to drive it! They were trying to drive it like a 5 speed! Imagine how well that worked! Having little seniority I got "stuck" with it! One of the sweetest shifting trannys I ever drove!
  13. Yep Brian, the 5 speed maxidyne with a low hole had a rocker button similar to a 13 speed rr!
  14. Thanks for the info truck shop!
  15. The old Cabovers had class!
  16. Looks like a real workhorse!
  17. Cool looking truck kinda streamlined for that era!
  18. Interesting rubber block arrangement on the rear suspension never seen one quite like it!
  19. Ksb, not surprising UPS would try drones! a UPS supervisor once told me that their benchmark for a delivery driver was that they should park the truck, and complete the pickup or delivery and be back in the truck before their shoulder harness stopped swinging!

  20. Beautiful tombstone! I kinda liked "Popcorn Suttons" the old moonshiners F ... You not too respectful tho' LOL
  21. Never seen a plow truck with that long chute, how does that work? Thanks for the info JH, those mailboxes are unsightly and dangerous! Brocky I'm in central Florida, we don't have the long chute on our plow trucks down here LOL
  22. 70 miles away, forgot all about it great lineup!
  23. No question the auto manufacturers used lead to fill imperfections at least til the 50s.My dad owned an auto salvage yard from 46 to 66, and we used to burn our car bodies before we scrapped them (before the EPA ) there were little piles of lead on the ground under the body seams! I used to collect the lead in a bucket and the old man would give me a couple of bucks for it! I was about 8!
  24. I never drove a 9000 Cabover but I remember watching their cabs lean on a turn! Must have taken some getting used to! Green Dash,Mike Parkhurst was hard on Ford's but some of them deserved it! Overdrive did a review on the Ford Cabover that preceded the CL ( the square crackerbox looking one) and they were pretty hard on the cheap plastic wire looms,as opposed to the woven cloth ones used by Brockway! I drove one of those Ford's and the overall appearance was that of a stamped out Tonka toy!
