Don't need to...got enough family & friends up there I can always find a FREE place to crash.

  7. Any of you guys see Ann Landers column yesterday? I call it the "psychology of panhandling" all road drivers have been panhandled, because they know we carry cash and tend to be a " soft touch" tell us your most clever approach or most innovative ploy! I have had some real classics. If some of them went to that much trouble coming up with a business model they'd be millionaires!
  8. Wonder what the "light weight" is on that yellow Autocar? Probably requires a cdl lol
  9. I had a young lady fall asleep and "polish up" the door of her Honda on my trailer tires!
  10. TJC, Did it scratch the trailer? California is a special place, nice scenery tho๐Ÿ˜
  11. And then hook a chain to the building and drag it to the next county!๐Ÿ˜
  12. Gotcha,41,thanx for the reply!that Lwb conventional in camo is baaaad,is that the m911 chassis you mentioned? Be fun to take it thru the drivethru at McDonald's๐Ÿ˜
  13. 66 R gotcha on the wife! My wife's friend tried to teach her on a Corvair, but it didn't happen! Started to look in Hemmings but just went numb, they have so many listings I'll try again tomorrow! I'm diggin' the 4link and coilovers should corner like it's on rails
  14. 41, are all those modular sections of that Oskosh standard stamping or is that tractor totally purpose built?
  15. Did you ever have a four wheeler try to come over behind you when you passed him in the left lane, thinking you were a tandem dump?, not seeing the trailer tongue? That just occurred to me as the tongue is so low!
  16. Did the Mormon sell? What a beauty!
  17. The Diamond T fire truck is the " cats ass" love it's lines also the stubby dump and the Marmon
  18. 66r there were a lot of those made are you sure you've exhausted all avenues for the wheel boxes I just got the new Hemmings I'll get back to you.I would normally " rag on you for the lack of a third pedal" but you paid your dues on the B model! I know the automatics have been faster since the 60s!๐Ÿ˜
  19. Thanx for the response J Hancock!, love those autocars!.I believe Passport repowered some of the older A cars or did a glider kit in reverse and kept the older classic cabs and sheet metal! What in the world is that white colored Cabover behind the four door Autocar?
  20. Well the fire truck I posted about being stolen in the Tampa Bay area has been recovered! According to the news bulletin, the mentally deficient thief paid 300 dollars to have another man's 56 Ford fire truck towed to the thiefs location and then in another slick move posted it on E Bay! There being so many 56 Ford fire trucks on the market it wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb! Lol

fxfymn on the subject of safety,I've been watching our local garbage contractor when they pick up our trash, and the helper always rides on the back step of the packer as the driver backs up to the stop or when driving to the next stop. I'd be willing to bet that this is against company policy, but if the helper had to walk up to the cab and back from the cab to the garbage cans at every stop he would wear himself out and add a significant amount of time to the run! This practice would be noticeably safer if the truck had a some sort of a cage on the rear of the truck that the helper could lean into so if the driver hit a bump the helper wouldn't be thrown off! I suspect that the reason this device isn't on the trucks is it would encourage the helper to do something he's not allowed to do but everyone including mgmt knows he does! Sorta a "catch 22" deal! I also wonder if the helper is denied workmans ย comp. If he's injured when riding on the back of the truck! Can you members in the refuse business give me any input?

  21. How about crew cuts on women and those permanently implanted "masai warrior" looking earnings on men? Nothing against the Masai, anyone who would confront a lion with a spear at the age of 14 is a baaad m effer, an can wear anything he wants๐Ÿ˜
  22. Saw a photo of a car hauler that " bottomed out" on a rail crossing! Fortunately for the "driver" he bailed out! There were cars scattered along the tracks for 1/8 of a mile! When I was in the towing business we picked up the " remains" of a steel haulers rig after he tried to "beat" a train to a crossing! My friend had a 4000 White gas burning tandem with a Holmes 750 on it the thing got used about once a year for "special occasions" like the demise of the steel haulers rig! Hat City is right on both occasions Darwin wouldn't have been happy ya gotta pity those two guys descendants!๐Ÿ˜Anyone ever win a contest with a train?....another train!

  24. The 7000 dollar p.u has been sitting for two wks!๐Ÿ˜
  25. Daily Diesel, 1000 bucks!! Wow! What a beauty! Right place, right time! By contrast there is a solid looking 64 or 65 Ford fenderside p.u in grey primer near my house no idea of condition or mechanicals 7000 bucks! Describe your L112 I've never seen that model. My dad had an L160 crane truck was about a 2.5 ton chassis had the differential and winch from a Bell Telaphone "line truck" granny topped out at about 18 mph!
