Oh,I just saw the trailers been sold! Wuz gonna suggest you go online and lookup a major flatbed carrier Landstar and Mercer come to mind, and see if they have an o/o in Texas that could deck your trailer and bring it to mass. Wouldn't have been cheap tho!

Mack global,I didn't see the the original discussion(about liner removal) I'm a certified welder and an an auto mechanic, but not a diesel mechanic.in the old days they used to pack the liner with dry ice(to shrink it) and drive it or jack it up from below. I'm thinking you want a way to weld a bar across the bore of the liner and pull it out from above with a hoist? Of course assuming you are throwing it away! If so and the liner is hardened steel(as most are,a good welding electrode would be 7018,low hydrogen 1/8 rod at around 120/ 125 amps dc electrode positive. If the liner is stainless steel you could use 308/16 stainless rod or nickel rod trade name "ni rod" electrode positive(i think) the box will tell you the preferred polarity and amperage. It has been 40 years since I've used nickel or stainless rod, my memory is a little fuzzy! I'm assuming you are using a "stick welder" if you're using mig process you will have to ask your supplier for the proper wire roll for the metal you are welding. Hope that helps!

Mack global,I just saw you're other post concerning "stick welding" .There are numerous videos. On u tube showing how to stick weld.if you are working in a remote area without electricity you will need to get a petrol or diesel powered generator/welder.They all function as both a welder and a generator. Some will do both at the same time (like when you need lights,or a grinder or drill).I would suggest that you practice on some pieces of scrap iron before you weld on the liner.

41 Chevy, thanx for the comeback on the wolf two engine tractors, also on the Diamond Reo with the Dietz air cooled diesel engines. The thing actually did resemble a mid80's anteater with a longer hood.Not. the pretty T600 's, but the "tonka toy" looking ones KW and a few others built.I found a video of a Dietz a guy was building for a truck project, kinda resembles a continental aircraft engine. The Diamond Reo is already sold, the guy only wanted 1800 bucks for it,said it ran and drove.

Timmy b, you saw that episode where they rolled the "hemi under glass" briefly I wondered if they "staged" that, but I don't think so,that car's too valuable plus the dude that owns it has to be pushing80 yrs old too much chance of serious injury of him and Jay! Have you seen the videos of that car running from the 70's? It has a Plexiglas window on the drivers floor so he can see the track when he's doing those 6 foot wheelstands ! I actually owned a65 barracuda. Paid 25 bucks for it! Had a slant six automatic.the only way it'd do a wheelstand is if you jacked up the front end!,

Hey,Timmy b,the "Hemi under glass" was featured in Hot Rod magazine in the late 60's,70's but I forget the exact driveline configuration, not much room for drv, shft u joints etc! Had to have SOMETHING to compensate for movement, can't just bolt the whole powertrain solid. The slant six had a performance option(four barrel carb, etc.) But it sounds like you're referring to a small hemi v/8. The smallest hemi I know of stateside was a341, I had one in a Desoto coupe 1955 model. Toyota built a hemi for their medium duty tks,Saw a couple in "yank" street rods looks like a mopar motor.

Timmy b,totally unrelated subject! My grandson has a bearded Dragon as a pet, supposedly a native of the Australian desert.Do you see them running all over the place, like we have squirrels and rabbits in our backyards in America? Really cool lizard, very tame you can put it on you're t shirt and it will stay there while you walk around!

Unless I am mistaken u models came out in66 ,same as r models the company I hauled steel for used u and r models, day cabs.237 maxidynes .I didn't like the long crooked shift levers on the u,but they backed up easier. The company started buying f model sleeper cabs around the time I left. Figures!

Retro, you seem to have it figured out on tire pressure! When I was hauling steel in an r model tandem tractor comeback susp. The company had me "bobtail" a tractor 250mi from Pittsburgh pa. To buffalo ny. Knowing how rough the thing rode "bobtail" I dropped the drive tires to 50lbs from 90. Much better! This was 1974 and they were 1100/20 bias ply tires they have a stiffer sidewall than modern radials,so I'll bet if you are running "bias" you could run 30 psi long term. If you don't have power strg.you could. Probably drop it unit it affects your steering. The damn spell check changed camelback to comeback! Also, do you guys get "Jay Lenos Garage in Australia? I'd like to see him drive a road train.might have a little trouble with a two stick, but he's already driven a road ranger.
