  1. My guess is that some one put the gauge inline with the starter, to check voltage drop during cranking? Just use an old bulb to check for the 12v from another gauge while you have dash panel off. You are doing your self a favor, go with the wired sending unit over the cap. Tube. They don't like vibration and seem to break the tube quickly. I just changed over mine on the E9. Bob0
  2. Hey T. You sure the truck is 24 volt? Not 24v start and 12v truck? Bobo
  3. I never herd of that? And they are junk out of the box? All cars used Viscous fans until the electronic age came about, tried and true. I only know what I know! I could be wrong. Out of the 5 rb/rd's I've owned, I've only changed 1 Viscous fan. Bobo
  4. Have you checked the fuel over flow/return valve. Bobo
  5. Hey explain what you mean by locked up? That type of fan always has drag on it. It will appear tobe spinning when the engine is started, It has a bi-metal strip in the center where the heat sink is, there is no wire or air signal needed. Bobo
  6. Check cam/crank censor clean it off. If it's got 1 gasket add another, so there is 2. If has 2, take 1 away. Bobo
  7. ummmm barry....
  8. hey does it have 2 light switches? the one on the left is a clearnce light switch(CL Lights) and the on the right is head lights(up) and markers(down) check the left switch thats what powers the outer clearnce(cab) lights. I have had the same problems with my RB's and RD's over the years. Try jumping from the left switch to the right, and check outer clearnce lights. If they power up, dont even bother trying to find the short(I NEVER HAVE!) just take the left(CL lights) switch out of circut, and wire all light to the top of the right(head lights) switch. I have ran all my trucks off the 1 switch for years with out a problem. Other spot to look at is on the fire wall abouve the motor is a black plastic relay junction box, over time the seal on them turns to shit and green death creeps in. also check on fire wall where buss bar is(left fire wall where steering shaft comes though), check for broken wires and broken or loose conection on the solenoids in the same spot, they rot from the inside out so you cant really see the corrosion in the eyeletts, use pliers and give them a shake. good luck bob0
  9. HIJACK! YOU SOLD THE MACK?! BOBO
  10. breathers that are going on THE SUPERLINER when it comes out of the shop!
  11. HAT whats a 465? I run 425's on my 22# front, 445's are too much money. just never seen a 465 tire is all bobo
  12. I would also check your trans. oil, the tranny cooler in the rad could be leaking. (not knowing what tranny/rad combo, you have this maybe useless to you) b0Bo
  13. Rob Not that excide is not a good choice, but bulldog/pedagree(east-penn) batteries are the best choice! yea they cost more but the construction of the is far better than any other battery on the market. Go with screw in top bolts and when you solder your ends on, drill a small hole in the front of the lug and melt the solder through the front. its an old trick my dad taught me(but you're probibly just as old as him, so you might know this!) LOL bobo
  14. hey rob the dealer still sells the sliding rear, they have some sitting in the warehouse in Chicago, up here they want $800cdn. Barry(WATT'S) wants $650us plus shipping. I will be going to the wrecker here this week for some part for the superliner I will look and see if he has any. I will ask my parts guy when I see him if can dig up any dirt on them. I want one too! bobo
  15. If Im reading this right..... you are look for a rim and tire to change from spoke(dayton) to 1peice(budd). you can go to any size you like 22.5 or 24.5. You will have to change the hubs to put a 1peice rim on your truck OR are you looking to change the split rim to modern day dayton rim??? are you wanting to put aluminum rims on? answer these 3 question and Im sure some one can help you out! b0b0
  16. hey hey where in york, K&R auto? its 25 min from my place. He's a pretty good guy to deal with. what size rims you want? I get them from Paillings. its luck of the draw as to how shinny they are, but I do get to pick which rims I want. BOb0
  17. yes there are lots of different grade stainless, most 400 grade stainless is magnetic, and no stainless will rust unless some form of 'iron' is embedded in it bob0
  18. When you say Niagara, you want the Queenston/Lewiston bridge NOT Rainbow(no truck traffic) b0Bo
  19. BUBBA I live 30 miles from Guelph. Dont worry about speed limiter law 93 and down are EXEMPT! I never turned my RB(01) down nor will I! which way you comming up? if through Detroit/windsor you got a SUPER SCALE 10miles inside Ont, next scale is 150miles @ Putnam, then clear to Guelph. Both coups are usualy open 24h. If comming from NY/Ont you got scale just out side Fort Erie, next one is 45miles to Vineland(ASSHOLES!) and clear saling to Guelph! if comiing fron NY, GOOD dealership in Stoney creek(HAMILTON)right off the QEW, ask for Johnny R! tell him BOBO sent ya if you need anything. Dont worry about you truck I looked at you pic many times you wont have any problems up here with it GOOD LUCK
  20. A few years back, I use to see a Schneider National MH(single bunk) up here quite often. 0n the 401 between London and Windsor. Not sure if it was an American or Canadian truck thought? b0bo
  21. Just picked up 10, 24.5 alcoas for 650$ a budy of mine is gonna buy the datons off me, and the 22.5s will fit the Rb! BOBO
  22. Dont get me wrong....Im all about looking cool in the truck, IMHO 8" pipes look like shit! they are too big and stick out like a sore thumb! what if some one forgets to open the door all the way up? How many times have you(we) looked a pipes with a dig or bang in them? Looks like shit! the bigger the pipe you go, you will lose performance(loss of velasity/loss of heat) slow the flow down to much. dont go any bigger than 6". I used to run 5" off my turbo, straight for a foot behind the cab on my RB, IT WAS AWSOME for 6 months, and at 9 months couldnt stand the noise. Rumble is great, LOUD is not. $4000 for pipe and install?! come up here I'll do the job and buy you a steak dinner at the Keg for $2000! LOL YOU ARE CRAZY FOR THINKING OF SPENDING THAT KIND OF MONEY ON EXHAUST!! $4000 in engine hop up would be alot more fun! just my two cents BOBo
  23. ROB I did just like you said! It work out beautiful, I was getting a little discouraged when having trouble pressing outer rails off. 4 porta power jacks and some good friends that can take my abuse, BUT well worth the time and effort to do it. I painted the inside of the outer, and outside of inner with POR-15, We didnt even have to straighten any of the flanges out, they poped back into place on thier own. hope to have it welded by next monday, then sand blast and epoxy priming the frame boB0
