  1. Thank you for taking the time to let me know.
  2. That picture if real is just scary that could of been anyone of us driving trucks for a living. If the driver lived he had an angel riding on his shoulder that day.
  3. How about my newly installed etz 673 260 hp. what do you think the boost will be on this engine? I'm kind of interested to know.
  4. When I was running my shop I was subbing my work to a company that did powder coating on a large scale but gene would do anything a customer brought in. I had some parts done for my bikes I was working on. If done well it is tough to remove. I just was talking to gene's son about chrome powder coat for my hood mack letters and dogs. He said he wouldn't do it for me I wouldn't be happy it looks like aluminum shiny paint and potmetal if pitted looks like crap when done with that color.
  5. Larry do you think you are losing any thing with the stock air cleaner?
  6. I would love to post some pictures on this site but I haven't a clue I have a smart phone? and a desk top computer and not a clue after that. Thank you
  7. I had a1200 4x4 stepside 345 v-8 a 65 1/2 ton with a 304 v-8 and a 9 foot stepside and a scout with a 345 v-8 all wheel drive and a 1965 cabover with a 220 10 speed. I guess I like cornbinders.
  8. I called watt's this morning and ordered that air cleaner for the b model and the cap. The guy that figured the shipping rates was not in yet they said he would call later ya right, about an hour or so mike called me back!!! He asked for my email and sent me the info on the order as soon as I got off the phone. I thought I would give them an ata boy . I will order from them again.
  9. I just bought two inside door handles and two window cranks and the pins and the spring chrome expandable spacers that hold the pins in I payed over 200.00 dollars one handle was almost 50.00 dollars.I bought them from a mack dealer. The first parts guy wanted the model and serial number had a fit when I said b model I told him same as a r model I had to get a different parts guy he knew just what I wanted.
  10. Hobert 62 I am just sliding a 3.90 rear under my truck air ride and with the 260 hp. engine it should do the speed limit on the highway I also have a direct duplex
  11. I didn't list it correctly I have 1200. in parts I am willing to take an offer for it I know I have put to much in it but I have rolled an air ride rear under the truck today and I would like to see someone get some use out of it just like my engine I have for sale it is under a tarp on the side of the garage I am out of room to put it under roof.
  12. I have pulled out my mack rear I put new drums, shoes, bearings, seals. I don't know the ratio but I topped out at 55 mph. springs and mounts 4 good drive tires on Dayton rims. Best offer I had 1200. in all the new parts the person before me instulled late model spyders so it has quick change shoes on it. I have around 500 miles on the brakes.
  13. That is an amazing amount of damage on that poor truck. Years ago a driver we had in the fleet parked in a truckstop and was ordering lunch when he sees a truck and trailer rolling out of the lot and says some fool forgot to set the brakes then he realized it was our truck it rolled out of the lot and stopped in a swale ditch never hit any other trucks and he got the truck back on the road with out any damage we road him for a long time over that screw up.
  14. I know the owner of that truck he must be really proud of it! If it was warmer out I would take a ride up to see why he wants so much for it I think there is one like that setting in the weeds up on rt.6 and there is one a little newer setting in the weeds up on rt.11 going to Hartford.pa.
  15. I was certified to run cranes up to 17 ton but I bet the test has a few more questions on the form for those monsters.
  16. There is an old time john deere tractor dealer not too far from me and when I bought my 318 garden tractor I drove in to get a new mower belt I gave the guy all the numbers off the machine 1 hour later after two parts guys looked an looked they gave me a belt and I quote if this doesn't fit we will try another one! I later was down to another deere dealer Mark the parts guy i always used for years rattled of the belt number from memory he was a great parts guy sadly he past away this summer.
  17. If I remember the top rings are keystone they are the same as later 675 rings. I used the top keystone rings from mack and the lower rings from perfect seal
  18. this engine has the turbo return the same as the the later engines I took care of at my last job the return went in the side of the block.
  19. KKergall I thought so but the parts guy that worked as a parts guy for triple city's mack before moving down to cook's as a parts guy said no only one. 41 Chevy I have to agree with you the compressor that is on it is not the original style but I asked and all I got was I need the truck model and serial number. I know you can't remember everything but lately all I get is I don't know. I forget but it was almost 40 years ago when I worked on the mack fleet. I had to drive 30 miles to show the guy that yes there is a seal on the adapter cover for the smoke valve Thank you for your information.
  20. I ordered rings from perfect seal out of Nevada for my end 673.
  21. I just installed this engine in my b model and it had a leak down where the air compressor was mounted to the block so new gasket and a good cleanup on surfaces and no joy still leaks another new mack gasket at 19.00 and I really looked at the block there was a hole drilled at the back bottom of the block that the gasket didn't cover fully so I tapped the hole out to 7/16 fine and made a plug and now no leaks. I have worked on mack engines before but I have never seen this the air compressor is a 501 and the gasket fit the mounting area on the compressor but not the block ? This engine came out of a firetruck but that shouldn't make any difference for the air compressor mounting. I was told that there was only one gasket number but I am not so shure. Anyone got an idea? Thanks
  22. I just replaced the fuel return line from the injectors to the return line on the pump. I went to my local hydraulic store and got 3/16 fuel and gas rated black rubber line should be good for years.
  23. TJC I was working in Netcong at great northern trucking in the mid 70's and the boss sent me over there for some reason or other. I remember the truck and it looked like if the dirt road had a crown in it the rear would rub on the ground I remember the driver said they didn't have any rear problems.
  24. I drove an f cabover 237 5speed and I hated it. I also got stuck driving an old freightshaker that had air steering what a real thrill getting in off road job sites. There was a gravel pit or something to do with that work that was over by bud lake that had autocars with the biggest rears I ever saw had to be at least 58's. Underdog your not far from over there do you know where I am talking about?
  25. I am thinking that I should upgrade the air cleaner on my truck it is an oil bath without any stack on it b-42 style after putting this higher hp. engine in I think it should need more air flow. I looked at the air cleaner on watts sight and that would be ok but that is more than I really want to spend, any other ideas? I wan't to talk to the man that owned the yellow fancy b model tractor down at the mack show last month but he was rolling out when I seen him in his truck. I am open to any thoughts on this or offers of something I could use. Thank you
