  1. I finally got the engine started this morning. Sounds great, 60psi oil pressure. Now i can start on the cab. I'll post a pic of smoke out the stack.
  2. The part number for alternator adjusting bracket is 4MJ336. Also, I used the existing generator mounting bracket.
  3. buy a 22si alternator. they are light ,easily changeable and not bad on price. we sell the 150amp new for 206. a leece neville for a r model sells for 230. they are heavier and less amps. if you need the part # for ajustable bracket let me know and ill post.
  4. they ride like a buckboard. i would not want one for a tractor application just that reason(ride). if you need it for close turning for back east that is one thing, but give me a conventional tractor out west.
  5. The factory wraps the aluminum to protect it during painting and transporting. It is the selling dealers responsibility to prep the truck before actual delivery. If you have a good responsible dealer all that is taken care of. If the dealer only shot you a low down price, then you get what you pay for. nothing is free.
  6. Through my experiences with these kind of deals. I think your wasting your time and good money after bad. The only person that is going to win is the lawyer. The time and money you will spend with the lawyer could go to your project. I have told myself i will never set foot in small claims court again. It's a joke!! Take your bath and forgot about the loser. It's a hard pill to swallow . Just spread his name all over the boards. It's a small world, words do spread. Good luck on the project.
  7. if seller has a title and they say its clean they are referring that the title has no liens against said vehicle and can be transferred to the buyer. if a lien is present on title the seller has to provide a lien release(signed). if not, the titling agent will not transfer the title into the buyers name. if no title is present, the seller should for legal purposes provide a bill of sale(should be notorized). then the buyer can proceed to obtain a title(lost title) with the bill of sale. the local agent then will conduct a search for a current title and whose name appears on said title. then the buyer has to settle with the person whose name appears on the title(could be the seller or someone else). even with a bill of sale does not mean that the purchase is rightfully theirs until a search is complete to find the rightful owner. contact your local agent that handles titles and tags.
  8. you answered your question. inboard mounted brakes.
  9. the number on the frame rail if the rail is the original from the factory will be your serial number. ill check on part today.
  10. i had a new aluminum front member and i might still have it. give me you complete model & vin and ill look it up and see if i still have this piece. keep you fingers X
  11. dont tear those 12speeds up. parts are harder to come by and if you find the part the cost is getting ridiculous.
  12. i sent all my emblems to a company in the state of washington and they came back beautiful. will yours turn out beutiful? i dont know. give dave a call @ alloy polishing1.360.736.2716
  13. the camelback system is allowed approx. 3/8" movement when turning. after turning the bogies should align back up. you can help the suspension by putting on a transverse torque rod. you will have to drill and tap the carrier housing to adapt the bracket that the rod bolts to and drill the frame for the rod on the other end. if the bogie still off tracks mack makes offset trunnion pads to install. hope this helps.
  14. no sleepers on cv granites from the factory. will have to put an aftermarket on.
  15. i do believe that all MH's came with four(4) valve heads. the MH was produced starting in 1984 and that is the same year as the four(4) valve head came into production. look at your valve covers, you will be able tell from them.
  16. on my restoration i went back with the grease cup/cover for originality more than anything else.
  17. mack made two different bumper arrangements. the standard was flush mount and the other was extended mount. that's the difference between the two measurements.
  18. find a truck with an e9 engine with mechanical throttle setup. give your local mack dealer the serial number and let him duplicate the parts for you. it shouldn't be that hard for you or the parts man as long as you have a model and serial number to work off from. i have two arrangements for you. for cab use 2QB4656 and chassis arrangement use 2QB5360. those numbers came from rw613-1352 which is a superliner II with air ride cab. that should get you fixed up. whether the parts are still available thru mack is another story.
  19. a 11.00x24 takes a 8.0 rim and a 12.00x24 takes a 8.5 rim they might interchange but if you have a real heavy load the side walls might rub on the bogies if you have 8.0 rim on 12.00x 24 rubber.
  20. tell barry to sell you a 34RC1106 key/lock tumbler set and two(2) new clips 48RU1267. also, you might want to change the tumber in the ignition so one(1) key fits the door and ignition and that tumbler is also supplied in the kit.
  21. i have posted a pic of the setup in another topic area. i used a 4MJ336 adjusting arm bracket because i could not get any adjustment out of the original(too short) dont laugh at my bolt. its the only thing i had at time to keep the alternator sturdy. i didnt have a 10" long bolt last night.
