  1. i think i have found a solution to the problem. im going to use a 22SI alternator with a 302GC2306P2 pulley and the original mounting bracket part number is 3MJ368 and 2 belts part number 88GB439P642. i will have to fab 2 small round spacers for the alternator to secure it snug to the bracket. ill post some pics when i have it all done. hopefully in a couple of days.
  2. if you could post a pic that would great. thanks, rjh.
  3. could anyone supply some part numbers for the pulley and the mounting bracket when using new style alternator on a end673 b61s. all the brackets that i have tried to use would push the pulley to far forward. thanks. rjh.
  4. thanks for the compliments. the engine is the original for this truck. it is a END673. its scary to think how original this truck is. we thought we had sold it new in 1960 when we opened our doors, but thru investigation thru the museum it was sold in october of 1959 out of okla. city. we opened our doors in feb. 1960. im the 3rd owner of this truck. will keep posting new pics.
  5. finally put engine in the rails last week. cant wait till i see some smoke coming from the stack.

  10. have your local mack dealer fill out the proper form for H.P. conversion. on the cost side and parts it depends on the current H.P. that you have now to what H.P. you want to go for. sometimes it easy and cost effective, sometimes its costly from the engine standpoint and do you have the proper clutch and transmission to handle the extra torque? do your homework or it might comeback and bite you.
  11. i can only speak for myself. being around MACK since birth its a hard pill to swallow. but i do understand supply/demand and the cost of two(2) engineering dept. running in two(2) different directions trying to meet epa reqs., also the cost of meeting epa demands are very difficult, and the year 2010 is going to more expensive. i believe when volvo sold the automotive division to ford it gave volvo good cash flow and i believe that MACK has the best dealer organization in the USA and has a very good loyal customer base and a brand name and mascot that is very well respected in transportation field. volvo NEEDED that. time changes. lets not be too critical at the start. give them a chance. everyone cried when the B model was cut from production(1965) and introduced the R and when the R was cut(1990) we cried again, but the world kept on turning. lets look forward, but lets not forget the old days. if it wasnt for the B,R and the rest of the models that have since died we wouldnt be where we are today. as soon as barry or i have a pic of the fusion cab we will post it.
  12. a mack faw5371, 12k front axle and a faw14.3, 14.3k front axle are the same except mack will shotpeen the axle to get the rating up to 14.3. kingpins, steering box, spindles, should swap over. brakes are still 15x4 or 16.5x5. basically the only difference is the spring rating of the front springs. from the factory 16.5x5 brakes are standard equipment.
  13. the new engine will be a hybrid volvo/mack. called the mp7, mp8 and mp10. the mp7 will be a 11L & available from 325 to 405HP, the mp8 will be a 13L & available from 405hp to 485, the mp10 will be a 16L & from 485 and greater. this engine will be only available in the new fusion cab that is coming. the mp7 production will be 1st quarter of 2006, mp8 will be 3rd quarter of 2006 and the mp10 will be 2007. all of these engines will cooled egr.
  14. if you dont have the part #'s here they are. 17RM4399/4399A OR 17RM5366 either of those numbers will work. the mack system shows none and no dealers are reporting they have any.
