  1. I was only 6 at the time living in Stoughton, MA. I remember my Dad telling stories of sleeping on store shelves at the Mall in Braintree, MA during the Blizzard. He was in truck sales at the time and plowed on the side for one of his customers - P. Caliacoo out of Quincy. At one point they sent out a loader to blaze a trail for the fuel truck to get to the fuel depot but then the loader ran out of fuel before they got there and they had to send another loader to finish the trip. 2. You can hear it from a country mile!
  3. So sorry to hear of your husband’s passing Catherine. Very generous of you to attempt to contact Erin to give her the photos. If you have the ability to post a photo or scan of the photos here I’m sure everyone would enjoy seeing them as the group lives photos! Dave
  4. Just imagine the stories those pieces could tell! Thank you for sharing the photos. Dave
  5. Is the Mack-Savage still in the fleet Brad? Truckfinder’s HMM would be an interesting addition to the fleet, just say’n... DavCut
  6. Thank you for the additional photo nicste! Always nice to see an old dog at work. Thank you for the link Swishy. Looks as if Sachal does some very interesting fabrication. Dave
  7. That's quite the boat trailer your pulling in your avatar! Might need to see a larger version of that photo... Dave
  8. Maybe the owner of the trucking company was a fan...
  9. Could you hang it and then use a shop vac through the fill hole? Not sure I'd try it with a gas tank but might be okay with a shop vac...
  10. Glad to see that you have found them good homes Mike.
  11. On a positive note at least she ran once you bypassed the pump!
  12. Evening Mike. Did the new pump do the trick? Dave
  13. I had a chance to talk with a woman who was looking at the truck at the same time. She indicated that she had driven for UPS and that while the retired “package cars” were cut up for scrap the tractors were painted white and sold. Seems as if the passenger side door had a company logo (non UPS) on it from Colorado. Dave
  14. It was a nice surprise to see the MH Saturday after reading the history on this site. I hadn’t heard that it had ended up back east. Looking forward to seeing it again after the volunteers at the Mack Museum get done with it! Thank you for starting the thread and sharing the photos. Dave
  15. Looking positive for this weekend at Gerhart! Post on the ATCA Facebook Site from yesterday indicates all systems go!
  16. Just saw this and started listening to the podcast. Thank you for sharing this great content kscarbel! Dave

    RD888SX

Looked up the auction company’s website. No price in the CL add since the auction doesn’t end until September 15th. https://bid.orbitbid.com/lots#YXVjdGlvbltsb2NhdGlvbl09JmF1Y3Rpb25bc3RhdHVzXT11cGNvbWluZyZhdWN0aW9uW3R5cGVdPSZsb3RbY2F0ZWdvcnldPSZsb3Rba2V5d29yZHNdPVJEODg4U1gmbG90W2xvY2F0aW9uXT0mbG90W21pbGVfcmFkaXVzXT0yNSZsb3Rbc3RhdHVzXT1hbGw. Looks to be at least 5-1/2 RD888SX’s in the auction. Dave
  18. Since Kscarbel linked to this thread I thought I’d bump it back to the front. If I’m reading his profile correctly Bid Red Owner follows this thread (though he hasn’t logged on since February 2019) so maybe he will see this and provide an update on Big Red’s status and location. DavCut
  19. A.J Blosenski runs a nice fleet. Seems to be a mix of Mack, Peterbuilt, KW and of course Autocar. Sharp looking trucks all painted in company colors. DavCut
  20. Looking forward to seeing more videos Andy. Keep up the great work! Dave
  21. Neat old film kscarbel. Thank you for posting it. DavCut
  22. Hopefully you were able to make better numbers with in house equipment and being able to sell them in the end. I grew up in the Boston area and my Dad used to dispatch for a sand & gravel supplier. At times in the 80’s he used to have around a hundred hired trailer dumps running bank run gravel into Boston every day. I think the most they ever had was 5 company owned tractors to set the pace. Thank you for the offer to see the trucks. Definitely will take you up on this once this craziness starts to clear up. Stay safe. Dave
  23. Great piece of industry history Mike. Thank you for sharing. I live the the Philly burbs and have worked for H&K and Allan Myers along with a few others the past 17 years on the project management side of the business. I could see either one of them buying that many trucks in a year, but probably not for one job. Looking forward to seeing photos of your B and R projects in the future and the finished products at the shows. Dave
  24. Neat information. Thank you for digging it out and sharing it. You must have been your Mack salesman’s best friend in 1979! What was the big project in 79-80 that you were building up the fleet for? Dave
  25. Looks great Andy! Dave
