  1. Good friend has an "03(pretty sure)RD tri axle dump with a 460/18 speed. He ordered it new,and it had under 200K.Last year sometime he parked it for the day running perfect, next day it had NO power.Been the same ever since,in and out of Mack and they can't figure it out!Turbo builds boost,it starts right up and seems like it runs fine. It's just gutless as can be!Any idea's what he can do???
  2. No this was Petes Tire Barn(was pricing for a friend). Was thinking of putting tubeless on my B81 if I keep it,they have an old skool style retread for 288- each.Said they were popular with dumps/garbage trucks.I was surprised that size has been in the same ballpark pricewise for a few years.
  3. That very well could be...Or somebody dropped a log on it?
  4. Called today to price some 11:00X24 tube type tires for the heck of it.New tire,tube/flap out the door(cash and carry) just under 800-!!!Last time I priced them was "05 and it was just about 500-.Unreal how much big rubber cost these days!
  5. Exporting to country that is using the trucks, maintaining and restoring them is one thing.Sending them to a third world hell on earth to a painful death is another.I think some people are confused on what upsets some of us,and are lumping the two together.I for one LOVE the Aussie style Macks and how they treat and use them.
  6. OZ has always had some very cool looking Macks!
  7. Your prob. right Vinny....If I do it must be to a good home!
  8. Truck was dropped off yesterday, thanks again Ray!Not sure what the plans are yet,i found a few others that aren't cheap but may go for one?If I do this truck may be up for grabs. The cab is VERY solid, only has some rust in the pillar area.Fender tops aren't very good, but came with a real nice extra one.Engine seems to run strong as well.A few more pics...
  9. Shame, not surprised at all though...
  10. That U model dump in CT is wasted...A Hatian bought it in Enfield and is trying to flip it.Cab, frame and body are rusted beyond belief...
  11. When does filming start?
  12. I'd love to agree as a huge Brockway fan that grew up in them, but they just didn't build anywhere near as many "heavy" spec trucks as Mack/A-Car.
  13. Good in theory, but places like Haiti and a lot of Africa will never change.
  14. I LOVE Macks, but you can't deny Autocar's as being one badass heavy duty truck, esp. here in the North East.Big rubber, big rears, frames ect....Mack "and" A-Car were the KINGS in their day of these types of trucks.... :twothumbsup:MACK FTW,they are the only "real" truck making their whole driveline.
  15. True, but the ride really depends on the truck.Short WB with 58's,your an inch shorter at the end of the day!Long WB with 44's isn't so bad.Back in the day most of the trucks here in the N.E were short and heavy!
  16. Was it a tandem dump or tractor back then?
  17. I agree if they are treated well that's one thing.Problem is the more poor countries that buy them don't seem to do that.Europe and OZ are great for the trucks,it's like they're almost worshipped over there!
  18. About 10/11 years an Eaton Fuller rep was at my former job trying to convince my boss to order an auto,he swore up and down within a decade they would no longer produce a manual truck trans.(didn't go for the auto)I drove a truck with an Allison once, the boredom just about made me crazy. Not for me,just my opinion.
  19. No question we all want Mack to survive, and thrive! But answer this, how is running 20-40 year old trucks into the ground in a far off land going to help do that?Your right about a worldwide following being a good thing, but they need to buy NEW Macks for Volvo to get the point!Volvo doesn't give a damn about obsolete old trucks in Africa.Haiti ect...plugging along to a slow death.Meanwhile parts are getting harder and harder to find in this country, and prices of the trucks have gone through the roof in recent years because of the scrap and export value. It just makes it that more difficult for those of us with a love for these trucks to own them, work them or maintain them.
  20. Amazing what a little freshening up will do!
  21. Simple question, explain your answer if you want.
