  1. Rebuilding old Mack trucks seems like a win win. To bad so many have been shipped abroad.
  2. No sense taking something apart that's useless to begin with.
  3. Yes I was inquiring about the chassis mounted set up that came out with the E-6 350 hp. (Econodyne perhaps) Was the chassis mounted set up also available for the E-7. I may be wrong that this chassis mounted set up started with the E-6. How long of a run did the chassis mounted air to air system have. What replaced it? Seemed to be a good idea at the time.
  4. Mack had the charge air to air induction system on the E-6 350. When did they stop producing this. What replaced it . Was it ever offered on the E-7. Was the Charge air system offered on R-models. I know I have seen it on Superliners and Cruiseliners.
  5. You tube video states that Fitzgeralds Glider states that Gliders from Freightliner and Paccar factories are no more as of 6-29-19.
  6. Should be a more popular combination.
  7. May bee Putin can find a nice rock in Siberia for him. Or China a good coal miner job.
  8. Stork Mack: Do you have any pictures of the IH's. How do you like them.
  9. Roger Penske did not do this country any favors by selling Detroit Diesel to Germany.as well as Consolidated Freightways selling Freightliner to Germany or Mack selling Mack to France.
  10. I wonder why they didn't bring the Hayward designs back to Macungie?
  11. Bigrig: Have you heard any updates about big bore for Mack in Canada?
  12. A big bore Mack would make them competitive in low boy/heavy haul, logging, trailer dumps as well as all the spill over effects such construction dumps etc. It's easy enough to correct Volvo just won't do it. Mack and their former board of directors only have themselves to blame for letting the Europeans (Renault/ Volvo) get their foot in the door. Well they said, its for the good of the shareholders. How is that Mack stock working out for you now? Ditto for the White Motor corporation killed by Volvo and GM.
  13. Hey Volvo bring them over here. Put on your big boy pants, swallow your pride and get to it. Or are you trying to kill the American Dog?
  14. Saw an ABF Anthem 193xx. May be 300 of. I believe the KW's are 18xxx numbered. Also saw 19018 on you tube being hooked up for delivery. I believe it was at the Macungie plant.
  15. 285 great engine. 237 on steroids.
  16. I wonder why there aren't more Granite and Pinnacle tractors in the trailer dump service. May be because they lack big power as does the new Pinnacle and old CH. Coal and gravel haulers are mostly Paccar, WS, IH and Shaker. I see plenty former Paccar road tractors with sleepers in coal country.
  17. I believe that DM was used down at the Coast Guard Academy with a dump trailer about five years ago when the new chiller plant was installed. Sounded great with the straight pipe. I think it was a 237. Black dog was that the Brooklyn Ct. show. Looks like a lot of old Mack's there. I'll have to get there next year.
  18. Would the 60 series Detroit fit in a CHU? I'll have to admit Stork mack those 567 Petes are Sharp looking classic style trucks.
  19. The Coe Scot looks sort of peterbuiltish/brockwayish. I wonder if it was the same cab manufacturer.
  20. if this is the original 673 turbo engine (205Hp) try not to push it beyond its 205 HP capabilities. I believe they just slapped a turbo on this engine without any upgrades such as piston pin cooling and bottom end upgrades. There is more info about this engine on this sight somewhere. This was a very smooth sounding diesel. Eventually this engine went to 225 Hp and 250 HP before it was eclipsed by the 237 maxidyne.
  21. I don't believe Hannaford or Hogan had Mack's before.
  22. Now that's what I call a back yard playscape.
  23. I wonder if Mack is in it?
  24. Pretty much all larger diesels such as marine propulsion and electric power production have individual cylinder heads. GE, EMD, Pielstick, Suzler, Cat, Janmar, Waukashaw, Cooper Bessemer etc. FM opposed piston engines were an exception as they had no heads. Scania followed this design in their V8. As KS states it is easier to fine tune an individual cylinder as opposed to a group of cylinders hooked up to multi ported intake and exhaust manifolds. KS also noted the maintenance advantages. Scania was wise to follow this design into the smaller engine design. I believe Scania also uses this design in some of their six cylinder designs.
