  2. Holy shit Tom!!!!!!!!!!! You're gonna be yellin' "Fire In The Hole!!!!!!!!!" every time you sit on the toilet! lol!!!!
  3. Was Hilary Swank on the jobsite?
  4. Mornin' Tom. What's up with that RD600 steelnose 10 wheeler in your post? .
  5. That's normal. When you operate the hand pump, you are pumping fuel from the tank, thru the filters, then thru the inj. pump, and then thru the return line back to the tank. That splashing noise you're hearing in the tank is the fuel pouring from the return line into the tank. Check all the lines on the suction side of the system for chafed or rubbed thru spots or loose connections. Also check that the primary filter is tight. Air is getting in somewhere and causing the fuel to drain back while shut off. _____________________________________ (From your previous post) That suggests to me that there is a suction line which is getting a progressively more severe leak, such as a rubbed thru spot. Sooner or later the leak will get to the point where the pump won't pick up any fuel, and it will just suck in air. At that point the engine will not run at all.
  6. Coming soon to a bookstore near you: "Asleep at the switch" A documentary of comatose management practices, behind the scenes incompetence and missed opportunities. A look at Mack Trucks since the V*lv* takeover. .
  7. V*lv* has infected the Bulldog with distemper. There are 2 large construction companies in this area that were all Mack fleets, and now are buying other brands. .
  8. I've seen UPS Internationals that are also devoid of any brand identification. .
  9. I used to use "Mr. Clean", undiluted straight from the bottle. Apply it to the flap, let it soak for a while then scrub. Lather rinse & repeat until clean. .
  10. That vent on top of the Centri Max is supposed to have a tube connected to it that runs up to the breather pipe arrangement on top of the valve covers. If that tube is disconnected or missing, oil can come out of the vent and make a mess. .
  11. I've done that too, and it works just fine as long as it's driven properly and shifted smoothly. .
  12. U607 - had END673 Thermodyne engine, U609 - had END711 Thermodyne engine, U611 - had ENDT673C Thermodyne engine, U685 - had ENDT675 Maxidyne engine, U686 - had ENDT676 Maxidyne engine
  13. And now V*lv* is pissed off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Have a good time Rob. Hope ya manage to find some "Road Kill" delicacies along the way. .
  15. Very well said! Actually, I fear that V*lv* has already put Mack past the point of no return, as there are so many V*lv* parts (including the "MP" engines)integrated into today's Macks, that Mack can no longer be sold off to anyone.
  16. Slightly off topic, but still having to do with H models: When I lived back east, in Stamford CT, there were 2 concrete companies in town that had fleets of H81's. Genovese Industries and Telesco Ready Mix. Some were set up as mixers, and some were set up as block trucks. They had END 673 engines, quadruplex trans and 55,000 lb. Mack rears on camelback. Maybe someone who has some pics of them will see this and post them.
  17. Sounds like there must be a good sized leak somwhere between that valve you opened, and the shutter cylinder, possibly in the lines, the shutterstat, or the shutter cylinder itself. .
  18. That unused cable probably was connected at one time to an emergency shut off valve, as that is where an emergency shut off valve would be located, right where the fuel line from the secondary filter connects to the pump gallery. Mike, if you have determined that the air pressure governor is defective, don't even bother trying to clean it. New governors are pretty cheap, it's not worth messing with.
  19. Mike, those allen head things are 1/8 pipe thread plugs used to plug off unused ports in the air governor. On the American Bosch pumps with the "oil pressure" (Woodward) governor, the governor is at the front of the pump, instead of at the rear like the mechanical governors.
  20. Tonight's edition of "Fix That Post". .
  21. You're also gonna have to put a second air filter on to supply the tip turbine with clean cool air. Either the double element type or the separate underhood filter with hood scoop will work, or you could do it the way Matt Pfahl did, and put a separate air cleaner on the left side of the cab to feed the tip turbine. .
  22. That sounds like one of those old "oil pressure activated" governors which required oil pressure in order to do it's thing. When the engine got tired and oil pressure was slow to build at start up, the engine would not fire because the oil pressure was insufficient at cranking speed to activate the governor. Some guys hooked a cable to the end of the rack, and this enabled them to pull the rack open manually when starting. A side effect of this home brewed setup was that on a hard pull, you could also pull the rack all the way open manually!!!!! .
  23. .....and he might even be able to put something on the trailer, in addition to the weight of the truck + Rob in the driver's seat, without being over 80k. lol.
  24. I was suffering from "extreme flatulence" today. My coveralls were "fully inflated" all day. see the "Greetings from Sheboygan WI" thread. .
