  1. All you old excavating guys out there will surely remember the Bucyrus Erie 22B, whether equipped with a dragline, backhoe or front shovel. Found some videos on you tube that are sure to bring back some memories:
  2. Very nice find, Fred! I see it has the 2 stick 6 speed, must have pulled a trailer dump or lowboy. Regarding that video, do you have a "Photobucket" account? That's how I do it, just upload the video to photobucket, then copy and paste the link to the video in your post here, and to view you just click on the picture. Example: Looking forward to seeing that once you get it posted. .
  3. Actually the stock color for the 673, 711 thermodynes and 720, 7220 duplex triplex and quadruplex transmissions is that "turquoise" color, similar to the "alpine green" color used on the old Detroit 2 cycle diesels. This Color
  4. U is offset cab road tractor 795 means it has the 325 H.P. Maxidyne V8. S means it is a tandem axle chassis. T means it is a tractor. 1010 means it was the 10th U795 built, since Mack serial numbers started at 1000 back then. I'd say it's rare.
  5. Good luck to ya in your new job! .
  6. Common sense is posted in the obituaries every day, just to let us know that it's gone for good.
  7. Where was that truck originally from Rob? That looks like a California type set up. Nice pic of the Hough 120 loader: Those were some tough old machines, there are a lot of them still working in this area. Looks like it has the 817 IH diesel engine in it. .
  8. At least it's a Cat motor and not a V*lv* P.O.S.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. The turn signal switch is shot.
  10. Thad said: Hey, I like that one, Thad! I may just use that sometime for a sig line!
  11. International TD24 with an ENDT676 Maxidyne engine in it: http://www.redpowermagazine.com/forums/ind...;hl=Mack+Engine .
  12. Back when I first moved to WI, I ran a "push cat" for a while, pushing scrapers, and one of the scrapers was an old Cat with a manual transmission. The guy running that scraper let me know in no uncertain terms that when his bowl was full, I was to keep pushing until he pulled away on his own, because that way he could upshift, just like a truck transmission, had to let the RPM's drop and catch the next gear. If I stopped pushing when the scraper was full, like when pushing a powershift scraper, the old Cat scraper would stop rolling quicker than the RPM's could drop, and he couldn't upshift. .
  13. Yup, you're right Tom, it's wheat. Ashley's "Father in law" said he lets a neighboring farmer plant that field without paying any rent, just so he (father in law) won't have to mow it to keep the weeds down. I guess the farmer is going to chop it just before the wedding (Aug. 29), and if it gets ruined, he'll just re do it next year. .
  14. Yup, looks like a C12!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I get up close & personal with those on a daily basis.
  15. Some photos from this morning (July 4). Borrowed a truck, trailer, & skid steer from work and put in a culvert at my daughter Ashley's "in laws" place. This is to gain access to the farm field next to their house so that the wedding guests will have a place to park. Ashley was the designated "Photojournalist" as the project unfolded. Spreading the first load of 1 1/4 gravel over the culvert (we first "hand shoveled" some material around the culvert to prevent it from "pushing out" when dumping the gravel on it): Leveling & grading the 2nd load of gravel: Finished product: ----------------------------------------------------- Ashley rode along as I went to the yard to get the 2nd load of gravel, and shot some video. Turn the sound way up so you can hear the Cat motor purring! (Sorry, not a Mack. The company I've been working for for the past 2 1/2 years has all Internationals). Upshifting when leaving the yard loaded: Downshifting to a stop on a highway 441 off ramp: .
  16. The automatic transmission greatly detracts from the "truckliness" of this unit. . .
  17. Your neighbor is a prick.
  18. Maybe you can get Obama to issue an executive order that all Peterbilts must immediately be equipped with Mack emblems and bulldogs as a means of reducing "sight pollution".
  19. Yeah, nothin' like running an old TS 14 with that 4-71 and it's exhaust stack about 3' from your right ear!!!!!
  20. Is the clutch release shaft well greased? (one fitting on each side of the bellhousing). Is the throwout bearing greased? It could be that the clutch cable is at the end of it's lifespan and has lost it's internal lubrication, causing the inner cable to chafe on the outer jacket instead of sliding smoothly. If the clutch cable is doing that, it won't be long until it snaps, because that chafing will cause the inner cable to wear and break. Clutch cables are not greasable, so it would need to be replaced if that is indeed the problem.
  21. 5.9 gas. I bought it used for a good price. Had I spec'ed it out new it would have definitely had a Cummins. .
  22. Rob, you may have seen this one when you stopped by a few years ago, I put the bulldog on top of the bumper : .
  23. An alternator will easily draw 40 milliamps when the truck is shut off. I checked one about a month ago that was drawing 60 milliamps. Took the alt. off, had it tested by our local rebuilder, all checked good.
  24. Cause it doesn't have a Bulldog on the hood to give it "proper balance"? J/K. Where I work, our heavy haul tractors (IH 5600i Paystars) have the Neway air ride and the trailers are 60 ton Trail kings on air ride. When unloaded they'll put your head into the ceiling on a rough stretch of road, but I'm used to that so it doesn't bother me.
