  1. Kinda like air ride, it won't follow the contour of the ground and you'll get wheelspin, but if you lock the power divider you'll be OK. .
  2. Rob, here is the link to Rowe Truck: http://www.rowetruck.com/index.php?option=...2&Itemid=47 I've set up 4 of their dump boxes on trucks so far, that one of my own (pictured), and 3 for other people. They're dam reasonable on price, IIRC that one of mine was around $5200.00 complete with controls, hydraulics, PTO, cab shield, hinge angle, etc., and they shipped it up here right to my door for around $300.00 shipping charge. That was in 2001, just before 9/11, so I'm sure they have increased since then, but all things being relative, I'm sure they're still reasonable. .
  3. Yes, Thad, those are 315/80's on the front, on 22.5 x 9" rims.
  4. I'd say go with a 15 ft box. If you set it back from the cab 8" to clear the exhaust, that would give you 14" overhang past the rear tires. Cut the hinge angle right into the end of the existing frame and you should be good, that should give enough overhang so the mudflaps don't get sucked into the tires when dumping. The box I put on that CH about 8 years ago is exactly what you need, it was a 15 ft with 36" sides (without the extra sideboards I added) I bought it from Rowe truck equipment in Indiana, real reasonable. Later when I have time I'll dig up a photo and post it, along with Rowe truck's info. .
  5. Hi Rob. What's the measurement from back of cab to back edge of rearmost tires?
  6. TRTX72 or 720. It was a triplex, but the lo lo was not used in the on road shifting sequence, so on the road you shifted it like a duplex, but yet you had the lo lo for off road if needed.
  7. USMC Jimbo said: We all had to learn at one time or another. I don't know of anyone that was born with "experience".
  8. CRDP92 & CRD93 differentials are used in the 34,000lb, 38,000 lb., and 44'000 lb. Mack tandems. You state that it appears to have had a camelback mounted on the outside of the rails, so that, combined with those differential numbers suggests to me that it had 44,000 camelback.
  9. His 4th hi split to 5th lo split shifting was kinda "grindy", other than that, not bad.
  10. Why anyone would want to convert a 2 stick setup to a "sissy stick" is beyond me.
  11. One reason was to make room for a Cummins Diesel, which was too long to fit in a B61 type engine compartment, although if factory Cummins equipped it would be a B73.
  12. If there is no "S" after the B75 designation, then it is a single axle. For example B75Txxxx would be a B75 single axle tractor, and B75STxxxx would be a B75 tandem axle tractor. ("T" stands for "tractor".
  13. Although the figures look comparable on paper, in the real world I don't believe a 728 cu. in. engine is going to perform equal to a 998 cu in engine. Just my opinion.
  14. Yes, or the next step will be a complete engine overhaul.
  15. Check for a boost leak in the CAC, piping, or boots. That would explain both the "siren" sound, and the low boost pressure.
  16. Did they kill Kenny again? Those Bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. After reading these comments, I thought I'd share this little incident that happened at the shop a few weeks ago: One of the operators who was on layoff at the time brought in a small 12 volt battery out of his lawn tractor or snowblower or whatever. He said it needed charging and could he hook it up to the battery charger for a while. Shop foreman told him sure, go ahead, the charger is over there by the front door. Nobody thought much of it, until Rich (one of the mechanics) walked in the door after a parts run, and saw the battery sitting on the counter, hooked up to the charger, with the caps blown off and 6 jets of gases shooting out of the cells! Rich walked by the battery keeping his back turned toward it, and pulled the plug on the battery charger. We all stayed away from it for awhile, til the gases stopped shooting out of it. Turns out that the operator had set the charger on 24 volts, hi rate, and left the shop!!!!!!!!! I'll bet if Rich hadn't walked in when he did, and unplugged the charger, that little battery would have gone on fire pretty quickly! Operator had to buy a new battery too.
  18. Mack's past was much better than the present, since the V*lv* takeover. There is no Mack future since the V*lv* takeover. Mack will indeed be "going the way of Sterling" as a result of the V*lv* assimilation. Free speech is good. Now I've reiterated my point of view too. .
  19. Yup. Where I work, one of our International semi tractors has Hendrickson air ride, and it's exactly the same as the Mack air ride, except that the parts are all stamped with the Hendrickson logo instead of the Mack logo and Bulldog.
  20. That part # sounds familiar, I believe I bought one of those a few years ago. I'm gonna go way out on a limb and say E7 350 application.
  21. On the quick adjust clutch, you still turn the adjuster clockwise for more free pedal, however when the clutch is just about "used up" and the pressure plate reaches the end of the adustment, if you keep turning the adjuster clockwise, it ends up with no free travel. Had that happen before, and did the same thing you did, turned it back the other way a little and ran it some more on "borrowed time". Sounds like it's time for a new clutch.
  22. This would be his "Package Car": And here is a photo of his "Co Driver":
  23. Actually, the EM7 would be a Maxidyne, and the E7 is Econodyne. Both could be either mechanical or electronic, depending on year of Mfg, or customer spec.
