  1. Looks like it's outfitted with the same cutting edge technology as all the other junk they produce.
  2. If it's powering a V*lv*, it must be a jackass. heh heh heh, lol.
  3. The old Mack service manuals from the mid 70's had detailed air system schematics, if you can get your hands on one of those that would be best. Those schematics would not show the air lines to a Spicer trans however.
  4. No way in hell I'd let that truck go overseas. .
  5. Nice stuff Tom! I remember those flexible point adjustment tools for the Chevy V8's, and the screw holder for point installation, and the shock holder. I've got some old unusual tools too, handed down from my Dad & my Uncle, such as the special tool used for installing points in a 235 cu. in. Chevy stovebolt 6. .
  6. You need the TRTXL1070B, the overdrive version of the 12 speed. I'd have to look at some literature to find the exact high gear ratio. Never tried to convert a TRTXL107 12 speed to a TRTXL 1070, so I don't know if that's possible or not. .
  7. Good morning James. I was basing my calculations on a Fuller RTX14609B, which I had in one of my trucks, and on the newer style double O.D. "X" shift pattern 13 speeds. You seem to agree that the proposed 3.86 ratio is too high. I think a 4:17 or 4:42 would be more appropriate, unless it's a "toy" truck that never has to pull a heavy load. .
  8. The 580 Super K 4x4 that I had was about 15,000 lbs. wet. I had a 10 ton Dynaweld tandem axle tag trailer that I hauled it on. .
  9. This should give you an idea how it's done Here's Tom (Otherdog) shifting his B53: And a couple more: .
  10. Here's a video of Larry (Freighttrain) shifting his triplex, which shifts the same as a quadruplex 5x4 on the road, since lo lo in the quad is not part of the on road shifting sequence.
  11. To my knowledge, 3.86 is the "fastest" ratio that can be achieved in a CRD92/93 carrier. Your 9 speed would have a .73:1 high gear ratio, so at 2100 RPM, with 3.86 rears on 11R22.5 rubber that would give you 93 MPH. Most Eaton Fuller 13 speeds also have a .73:1 high gear ratio, so nothing will be changed by the trans swap except for the ability to split the hi range gears. Now for the other side of this equation. Does your truck ever go off road or have to start off heavily loaded on steep hills? If so, the 3.86 rears will be too "high" to give good startability in severe condtions without abusing the clutch. IIRC, a 9 or 13 speed Eaton Fuller would have a low gear ratio in the neighborhood of 13:1. Multiply 13 x 3.86 and the result is an overall reduction of 50.18:1. In my experience over the years, on 11R22.5 rubber, that overall reduction number (trans low gear ratio x rear axle ratio) needs to be at least 60.0:1 in order to achieve good startability when loaded. With a 9 speed .73:1 high gear, your current 4.78 rears are showing me a top speed of 75 MPH @ 2100 RPM, and with the 9 speed low gear of approx. 13:1, I'm seeing a 62.14:1 overall reduction in low gear. .
  12. That info on the older Macks is being deleted because the V*lv* people don't realize that there are lots of old Macks still working, unlike that junk that V*lv* has been building all those years, which has undoubtedly all been scrapped long ago. Hell, those V*lv*s were junk the minute they were driven off the dealer's lot.
  13. You still have "Father", Deacon", "Sister", "Reverend", "Pastor", "Rabbi", "Cantor", "Imam", "Ayatollah", etc. to choose from. .
  14. That's true for the heater/defroster blower motor(s). That's incorrect. Starters are not polarity sensitive. A 64 B model has air operated wipers... Not applicable on a 64 B model..
  15. Wonder why they spec'd "edible" mutton tallow. Did they think you're gonna spread it on your sandwich at lunchtime too? LOL.
  16. For lube on those rubber trunnion bushings, I always put some Mr. Clean in a spray bottle, wet the bushing with the Mr Clean, then smear a coating of D&L or GoJo waterless hand cleaner on them too. That combination makes things slipperier than shit. I use that for a lube on the Chalmers suspension bushings nowadays on the Internationals where I currently work. Regarding the camelback U bolts, I have seen them break in service, also have seen the spring box attaching bolts snap, so it's cheap insurance to use all new hardware. .
  17. Glenn, how about if you put a set of those metal stabilizer blocks in each spring box, you know, the ones that go between each side of the spring and the inside of the box. I had those in a few of my trucks and it kept the rears in line when cornering. Otherwise, how about retro fitting a transverse torque rod on the back rear, like the later models (86 on up) use? Yeah, I know that may eventually cause a cracked banjo housing if you have the pressed steel housings, but it would also keep things straight in the turns. Just some thoughts. .
  18. I'd also suggest cleaning the intercooler & rad. cores externally, either with compressed air or with a pressure washer. I've had heating problems that were caused by partially plugged fins on the cooler & rad.. It also seemed that when air flow through the cooler & rad. are reduced, the fan clutch did not sense a high enough temp to kick in even with high water temp, but once things were cleaned out and proper airflow was restored, the fan clutch worked properly again. You should remove the intercooler and clean it and the rad. separately, as it is difficult to clean them properly with one in the way of the other. .
  19. Randy, try this link: http://www.rdac.com/Pages/product_pages/units_index.html#Anchor-Rooftop-47857 That'll get you to the site, then there's lots of stuff you can click on. .
  20. Jeez Tom! Randy just wants a little bit of A/C, he doesn't want to freeze his tomatoes! .
  21. Hahahahaha!!!!!! Where's the "High Powered Laser 4 Wheeler Vaporizer" control switch? .
  22. Looks to me like B81 fenders, a B75 type radiator and a custom built hood. .
  23. With a 7220 the top speed at 2100 will be a little slower due to slightly less overdrive in 5th gear. I don't have the exact transmission ratios in front of me right now, or I could calculate an exact speed depending on your tire size and rear axle ratio. .
  24. The TRD720 and the TRD7220 are both double overdrive duplex transmissions. The "0" after the 72 or 722 denotes that. A TRD72 or TRD722 would be single overdrive (o.d. in the compound only). The 720 had more o.d. in 5th gear than the 7220. The 720 is an older transmission, the 7220 a later model one, relatively speaking. Regarding the spring brakes, it's not just a matter of holding the tractor stationary when parked, it's also a matter of being able to make an emergency stop if you lose all your air pressure suddenly. The little drum brake on the transmission is worthless in that scenario. .
  25. That 41 weapons carrier is a dead ringer for the one I had - only thing missing is a snow plow frame on the front, mine was red with black fenders too. My '55 Power Wagon (can't remember if it was a C1PW or C3PW) looked just like your WM300, except that it was red with black fenders. I've got pictures around here somewhere. .
