  1. Great Picture!
  2. HAHAHA maybe the strip district for some primantis! Thanks yeah we got a few inches of really wet snow...great for snow ball making....Man I getting old lol!
  3. The head light buckets were changed and turn signals move due to water spray on mirrors and windows in wet weather. I remember hearing of a test being done with a pickup hauling 55 gallons drums of water spraying it on the the road ahead of the moving truck. The engineers figured out if the moved the headlight bucket out flush it would correct the spray. I enjoy the ride of my Cruiseliner. It rides better than my one ton duramax service truck. It has great visibility and turns nice even without power steering. Anyone out there with some parts I will be in need of a few like the top center console where the radio goes (ripped out), air ride cab kit, and both pot metal emblems on each side of the cab that say cruiseliner.
  4. Deregulation ruined trucking and the good old days of making a decent living as an independent.
  5. I never knew that lanova meant pre-combustion chambers or energy cell. That's interesting. They were on a Waukesha VRD I worked on. They had to be cleaned and sanded up for the swirl to be created good.
  6. Westingtonhouse is still around but only a shell of it's former self. They have a new world hq in cranberry,pa just north of pittsburgh. They are in the engineering and design of nuclear reactors.
  7. If your truck is plated classic in Pa you need an annual inspection. You will fail instantly for caps on the steers. That's a big no no. I've run caps on drives and trailers with good luck. Theyve always been goodyear caps and I'm a sticker for tire pressure and rotation.
  8. It's all a money maker. They see dollars signs rolling down the road. The local police around the South Hills of Pittsburgh have a "Joint Task Force" for truck enforcement. Each local dept. has there own "Truck Inspector" officer. Its a racket. These guys couldn't tell you their ass from a hole in the ground. All it takes is one asshole driver to get them on all trucks like the story I posted a couple months ago of the foreign "Mexican" driver who lost his brakes going down the Green Tree Hill into the West End of Pgh. He took out quite a few cars and damaged some houses. The tractor was buried into a living room of one of the homes. They had to bring out a translator because he couldn't speak english. Luckily no one was killed, but because of guys like this they get tough on everyone.
  9. A little trick to extend the life of the battery is putting a piece of rubber under the battery and have a good hold down. I usually use an old piece of heavy conveyor belt of double up an old mud flap. It helps take the shock going down the road. It also does not let the flaking of the lead on the plates inside the battery fall to the bottom and cause it to short inside.
  10. It didn't show up on my ipad either but it did on my Desktop. anyways here's the link: youtube.com/watch?v=rurlOy9-LLc
  11. I think the gas-turbine engines were put in a superliner and a cruiseliner. The Cruiseliner was on display last summer when I was there in June for the Macgunie Show. I was always told you could order any power/drivetrain combo would want ie all mack(gas/diesel/trans/suspension/rears), Detriot, Cummins,Cat, and A/C. Roadrangers and Allison transmissions. Eaton or Rockwell rears. Reyco and Neway supsensions.... It was all how you and your salesman spec'd the truck.
  12. 1973 M45SX Coal Hauler. Pretty nice video!
  13. Deka. Hands down. I run them in everything and have always had t,he best luck with.
  14. What Glenn said. 18 bolts were on the earlier then the fix for the blowing of head gaskets was more bolts to make a total of 20. If you would pull the heads the 711 had a 5" Bore, where as a 673 had a 4-7/8" bore.
  15. That G is really clean!
  16. Most 350 2v would have a series intercooler infront of the radiator. They should be the same dimensionally as a 673,711,237 etc A 350 2v would fit into A B model but you would run into a problem with the intercooler. The radiator size of a B is way smaller than an R Model so the stock series intercooler won't fit infront of it. I seen a B Model at a show? with a 350 2v put in it but the intercooler was infront of the grill shroud with all the charge piping exposed. It didn't look to appealing to me but you have to give the give credit for trying. The only other route would be a custom intercooler, if at all possible. But like Steve said there was an air to air intercooler 350 2v, that I believe, came through in some MH cabovers that would eliminate that and would fit with no problem. It depends on the application.
  17. Happy birthday!
  18. You're correct by manaully locking them in gives you power at both axles. Otherwise the power goes to the rear axle. Mack power dividers have "peanuts" that when you start slipping on the rear axle the peanuts drop in automatically and lockup the front rear end to give you power to both drives.
  19. They all (older macks) will smoke at start up especially in colder weather. But if its still smoking and blowing out raw fuel at operating temp. then you have an issue like some people suggested. Check your injectors and if you need them serviced or pump work call R.A. Watt Fuel Injection (Watt's Fuel Injection) in Bradenville,Pa He'll help you out. He's a good guy. We've been using him for years now.
  20. The same thing was said about china 30-40 years ago. Chinese manufacturers are investing in the Africa as we speak. It's the last continent without heavy manufacturing where labor is cheap and no regulation of business. @luigi you came to the right place for help but you rubbed some people the wrong way you have to understand that. I'm not saying anyone should apologize. You have to understand where some people are coming from. Some people might not like at the fact that you can here to "better" yourself financially but with an attitude. That will rub some the wrong way. You should not get offended at the reaction you got.
  21. @farmer- you hit the nail on the head. As a new member you might want to get a "feel" for the forum you just joined before proclaiming you have "big balls". That's a huge turn away for me when that person asks for help. Mack has changed over the years from b models to pinnacles today. Change is something that is going to happen. Its always mixed emotions when it does happen but it has to happen. Likewise exporting older trucks is a mixed emotion and personally I don't want to see it happen but I guess it has to happen. The silver lining, if any, would be that once these developing nations get on there feet and have wealthier economies they remember what truck helped then get there. Mack got them there. Hopefully they stay faithful to the Mack brand and purchase newer Macks proudly made here in the USA.
  22. Welcome fellow yinzer there are a few of us here. Ask away, there are a good number of guys knowledgable of Mack fire trucks.
  23. Throughout the duration of this thread not once did any of the members of this site use racial or derogatory remarks based on sex, color, race, or creed. That was until your post. I think it shows a lack of respect and understanding of the topic and comments from both sides of the debate. It's not surprising a comment like this would be made by you, given the fact that you typically like to stir the pot then leave only to come back and start all over again. In regards to the topic at hand if someone, no matter who it, comes here asking for help, someone here is always willing to give them a hand. That is of course not the case if the person asking for help wants to fight, bicker, lie, and claim "mr. Big balls" award of the year. Both parties know where they stand, with that being said, there is no need for someone to insult members as this forum as being "good ole boys" and from the "holler". A lot of us are educated or uneducated and come from many different backgrounds but always lend a hand and answers question. You might not like the answers given so be prepared but they should always be helpful, respectful, and opinionated. I might not always agree with what someone will post on here but I respect the fact that they are entitled to there opinion and I will, from time to time, give my opinion as well. Either way it's always in a respectful and decent manner with no need from derogatory terms to get my point across.
  24. I always like history and trying to preserve it. Last year I rebuilt a 1950 Packard 288cid straight eight for a older gentleman who I bought a B model from for parts. Talk about a unique piece of history. I found NOS rod and main bearing for it and they were in boxes marked 3-52. Just mind boggling when you think of whoever made those bearings is probably dead and here we are some 60 years later putting then in an engine...
