Trucking News: Shell CEO Expects Natural Gas Prices to Rise
220cummins replied to BMT Forum Bot's topic in Trucking News
Obama has nothing to do with the gasoline or natural gas prices. The corporations would love if his administration would get involved so they can blame him for the high prices and give the republicans more money for lobbying for less restriction but at the same time using it as a distraction to export more of our natural resources. It is the companies and the market. This statement by Shell can not come as a surprise to anyone. Chesapeake Energy announced earlier in the year a focus on "wet" gas (liquids rich) instead of "dry" gas (natural gas) which included less drilling in the dry gas fields or less supply. Not to mention Chesapeake is shaping up to be the next ENRON style corporate misdoing. Announcements like DOW chemicals intentions of building Ethane Cracker Plant, which uses wet natural gas as "feedstock" in Texas because it "has unmatched infrastructure and is better suited to handle derivatives exports" should be taken into account. A lot of our gas drilled here is destined for the world market, meaning that low natural gas prices are only going to be moving upward. Thank the corporations and their CEO's greed for trying to maximize profit for themselves (Chesapeake) at risk of citizens of the United States. -
Urea is pig urine and is considered renewable. Its not a fossil fuel.I had a brochure from five years ago from Mack when the first MP's started coming online claiming with the use of a DPF and an after-treatment (Urea) the MP's would make the air/water vapor being exhuasted from the truck cleaner than what is being sucked into the intake before the air filter. How true this is, I really don't know. I do know that it took a long time GM for example (73-98) to make engines (LS1, LS2, etc) have as much performance of the cars of the Muscle Car era. A LS-type motor is actually way more efficient, powerful, and reliable than a comparable sized engine of the mucsle car era. Not to mention its way easier to pickup horsepower compared to then. It took a long time but when the bugs were worked out....Look out. Hopefully the engine and truck manufacturers get the bugs worked out so the complaints of lack of power and efficiency fade. Tough luck for the cheap workers to our south if International has to cut back production....WRONG you'll see the cut backs at the remaining US plants. Just a little fact I read this a couple months ago "Navistar International spent $6.31 million on politcal lobbying and did not paying any taxes during 2008-2010, instead got $18 million in tax rebates, despite making a profit of $896 million and increasing executive pay by 81%" maybe they should have better invested money into EGR research and not moving manfacturing plants to cheaper labor markets as a way compete with the other manufacturers.

I read the TDS "technical data sheet" from the rustoleum website. It does say reduce with 15% acetone if used as spraying. Everytime I've used for a Rustoleum product that wasn't in there commercial line of finishes with a catalyst (9400 polyutherane series) I've had luck with just reducing it with mineral spirits. The amount was just by checking the consistency with my eyes. Not too thin not so thick it wouldn't go thru a 1.5 tip in a gravity gun or too thick to use a common syphon gun.

It says it has a program called pocketfleet? I haven't heard of this system do anyone have experience with or heard of? I wouldn't mind just being able to read not to program or not to change parameters. I also like the odbii capabilties. Does this look like a decent package for the price? Thanks

could this be a sign of peanut trouble?

"peanuts" are little balls in the power divider. When your rear drive slips it automatically locks to have power to both axles. Instead of having an air toggle to lock in the power divider it automatically does so.. It has nothing to do with wobble. It's inside your power divider on the intermediate axle. -
a rule of thumb would be not to use a un-catalzyed finish "rustoleum" with a catalzyed top coat "clear coat with activator" the two are different paint systems. You shouldn't mix systems. Use a complete Base/Clear Coat system, a single stage acrylic enamel, or just an oil based "rustoleum" enamel seperatly not together.

Ive been there its tough to get started out. A couple bad apples make it damn near impossible to get something that. Hang in there and just remember when you do get it how hard it was to get and how easy it can be to lose.
-
Yes you shouldn't need either for starting and stopping after it sits for a couple hours. The fuel should be warmed up enough by then to not hesitate. I could be the pump or injector(s). How does your throttle stop cable look? Any Kinks? Is it in the run position and work properly?

I lucked out when I got mine when I was 19. The company i was at paid for my state (PA) licensing. I had to have my permit for i think no less than 2 weeks but had to have someone over the age of 21 with a current CDL to ride along with me. Luckily my dad just retired and was more than happy to go along with me on runs.

Old mack engines need either to get started in the cold. Either isn't going to harm the insides. Even on oil bath style air cleaners there was a bung on the top of the cleaner for an "ether kit" a couple shots of either will get it running. just not to much to "either lock" it.

I think you have missed the point. Springs are also an exception to the rule. Replace them in pairs. If one spring is broken then the other is not soon behind after the new one is installed. If you replace just one you run the risk of causing the truck to lean to the unchanged side that can cause unsafe steering and handling conditions. Like I said before there are two types of maintenance. I'd rather repair the other side since the truck is already getting serviced then to wait and either it be the cause of an accident, an out of service tag, or a tow bill. Whats the lesser of the two evils? Paying up front for PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE or paying out the ass for REACTIVE MAINTENANCE EITHER WAY AS AN O/O you'll have to pay for it.
-
I agree with Rob you should replace in pairs. The unbroken spring has been under more load since the other spring has broke. Replace JUST the broken one with a new one, watch and wait until the other older spring breaks. Ive seen it happen. Replace in pairs. There are two types of maintenance-preventative OR reactive. The second (reactive) one is always more costly.

Yeah they're right on 837. Do you load in/out of the techs often? Yeah that tough looking r was typical around these for a a lot of contractors up until a couple years ago when a lot were replaced by either newer Mack's or peterbilts with aluminum bodies. Those heavy spec triaxles are what I grew up around. 237s 300 350 with loholes 44 or 58 rears and steel bodies. They could haul aggregate, coal, sand, or slag. Pretty much a utility workhorse.

PJ Caruso paving had been around for a good number of years. My dad was friends with some of the guys there. They always had a bunch of Mack's and always took care of them. That's a typical Pittsburgh triaxle right there.

I spoke with Ray at SecurityLocknut, he said I would have to call McMaster-Carr to get the nuts because they are the manufacturer and I would have to go to a distributor....So I call McMaster-Carr and they inform me that they no longer carry that nut and I would have to go somewhere else..I call Ray back and he says "I'll put a SAMPLE in the mail" for me to "TRYOUT"..LOL I hope it works out. Anyways they have been great people to deal with so far.

I'm looking for a new drive flange nut for the pinion (carrier pinion shaft nut-service manual TS-442) on a CRD-93 rear carrier. It looks like an 1-3/8"x12 thread. A 1-13/16" socket fits it. It's a steel locker type nut. I had to replace the seal and had to use some heat to get the old nut off. Tracy at Watts has call into the Mack museum for me trying to track this nut down. I also tried a couple Driveline pinion nuts but they didn't fit between the flanges when the yokes were bolted together. I also went to a Fastenal who could understand what it was for then told me they couldn't sell anything to me that was automotive related. Here's the carrier number 11KH4134P19 ratio 732 CRD93-65-2. I could always try using the old one with locktite because the truck isn't used for work but I'd like to put a new one on.

I always got a laugh when I went to the local Trans*dge Mack (old pittsburgh Mack) and they asked for a vin number for a bmodel.I would give them a serial number and they'd give me a look like I just shot their dog lol Then I'd give them the part number for what I'm looking for and get another look. Granted I wouldn't expect these "Advanced Auto" parts guys who work at a Mack dealer to know something that's not in their computer but commons sense would tell you to look in the BOOKs. Thats why it's always better for me to deal with the only local Mack dealer who knows more than what's in the computer system for anything older than 2000. Watts Mack. Barry,Tracy, and Tom are the last of a dying breed that knows what BOOKS are lol
