  1. RIGHT ON, There is a check in the mail on monday from me! I hope some others own up as they said they would.
  2. Sorry to hear about your recent bad luck. Its a shame bad things happen to good people. Hang in there and If you need something we're all here for ya.
  3. Did you look at the front and rear engine mounts?
  4. Did he just throw you the keys and say "here you go, now figure it out?" If he did throw them back to him cause you will hurt yourself and more importantly you WILL HURT SOMEONE ELSE
  5. All those designers and engineers don't look like they've ever driven anything bigger than their Volvo xc90 to drop the kids off at soccer practice but they can design a class 8 truck. lol anyways my opinion is there are some nice concepts considering the streamlining of led lights and locations like the clearance and marker lights in the windshield, Not that is very practical but still neat. What I'd rather not see is the non-americans assembling the windshield and buffing the paint. Thats just a small reminder, where, if this truck were in production, it would be made at. Not in the cleveland,nc plant but way further south. Goes to show where other competitors are and have been focusing investment. Innovation and research and development are great, but so is reinvestment into the market where you sell the majority of your trucks and building those in the major market. Corperate responsiblity. My point is look at Mack/Volvo and the responsibility they have have been doing by manufacturing, assemblying, and selling in the major market. They get the idea. Not to change the subject of the concept Freightliner but it should be a selling point to customers. Now back to the concept. I see theyre still using s-cam foundation brakes. Why not disc brakes? Lighter weight better stopping distance to conform with the newer regs. Here what this truck reminders me off. History has a way of creeping into the future.. Taken from hanks truck pictures credit to Mat Shelton..
  6. "They get twice the hours out of a 5.9 than the original Caterpillar/Mitsubishi one" Theres a possiblity as to why someone will spend money on this type of conversion. Not to mention parts for a 5.9 are probably more easily to come across in a pinch... just my two cents.
  7. http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/23355-license-registration-and-proof-of-insurance-please/page__st__20 if you scroll through this topic is pretty much gives a lot of info for pa.
  8. my 82 Cruiseliner is Approx 11" with 24.5 tall rubber from ground to clearance lights. But a Brochure from make says 121" http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u70/rayman852002/brochures/Cruiseliner-9.jpg

  10. north of pittsburgh on 79N about a hour outside of Erie. Edinboro is about a half hour outside of Erie.
  11. The state's "motor carrier enforcement" and local "truck task forces" stop anything over a 3/4 ton pickup around here to check for weight class and safety violations. I just took and passed my state inspection license for heavy trucks and you wouldn't believe the stuff that inspection stations do NOT have to look for a commercial vehicle to pass a annual state inspection. For example you can pass a truck without a fire extinguisher, road flares or fusees, and circuit breakers or fuses because it's not in the "vehicle inspection code" but say the driver leaves your shop and gets into a safety check they will write him up for it. A pre-trip is more involved than compared to an offical annual state inspection. Last fall at the local dirt track they had the state police in the sitting outside pit road when a lot of the car haulers were pulling in. Most all of them have either toter-homes with race trailers or older "retired" tractors pulling their race trailers. Most all were registered as "motorhome" They still cited and wrote up guys for not having CDL due to the weight of the combination. Its such a freakin gray area and has been since since CDLs came about 20 years ago. Firemen don't have to have a CDL to drive a pumper at a higher rate of speed to a fire. All they have to have is a letter signed by the cheif saying they safe to drive.
  12. Thats a hell of deal
  13. They look pretty good. They were decnt looking trucks before he cut them up. I also have some parts left over post your list and I'll see what I have. I know I have a chrome rad shell that someone painted, its a little rusty tho. I did my new glass for the entire truck for around 200 bucks I think. I'll have to look for the slip. I went to Advanced Auto Glass and they did the whole job in about and hour.
  14. Theres a guy in canonburg or cecil that bought up a couple trucks from Morgantown then scrapped the rears off. I guess he kept from behind the cabs forward. His name is joe and I actually bought my b61 off him but just watch him he seems like the a guy who would pull a fast one over on someone. Im not saying he did to me at all but I had my guard up when dealing with him. Kinda of a wheeler-dealer type. Anyways if you look on CL PGH you prob find his number.
  15. now thats really a "headache" ball
  16. http://www.timken.com/en-us/products/maintdiag/Documents/6347.pdf about halfway down
  17. your alt could have a short in it. try this leave the truck sit over night then in the morning before you start it feel the alt with your hand. if its warm or hot then its getting juice. also try putting rubber under your batteries. it will stop some of the vibration of the batteries. Ive tried them all. Bulldog batteries always gave me problems. Same with interstate. Now Ive gone with DEKA and haven't had a problem. My dad also swears by them, having luck with them for a good many years.
  18. your bonnet is the correct one the newer ones are like mine. Both of mine that i wanted to used were rotted and to far gone to mess with.
  19. no braces on mine either and its been two years so far. the truck this came off of didnt have it either.
  20. http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?111126-11-year-old-girl-kills-2-illegal-alien-home-invaders/page4 good story but it probably hasn't made any news beacuse it appears to be fake.
  21. No problem. I just came across that last night. I was going to post a picture of the difference between rubber and brass bushing but then I came across that site. Pretty much sums up the differences.
  22. http://truckbusters.wordpress.com/2006/04/24/how-big-is-your-rear/ a pretty good description on spotting rears
  23. what does your caps look like on the trunnion. does it have a rubber bushing or a cap with with a zerk fitting. post a picture. Those trunnion stands sometimes crack laterally up the center behind the springs. Check for cracks there too. As for the welding of the bottom of your stand goes, if it were done properly it should hold up fine. check those for cracks in the weld.It could be letting the trunnion beam "service spindle" walk or move causing the shake. also check the center bolts, check the bushing caps are drawn up good on the bushing rubber or bronze
  24. I got mine from a parts truck I had purchased. It is aluminium. I sent it out and had it polished. They bolt right on. You just need a clamp on the bottom and top. Its an extension of the bonnet.
