  1. welcome!!
  2. Its called a bonnet tube. On oil bath filters it was to stop water from getting kicked up from road and sucked into the filter.
  3. http://www.oldmacksrus.com/Adobe_Pdf's/B-Model_Cabs.pdf Most of you have prob seen this but its always helpful to repost. Bmodel Cab sheets link is not working but copy/paste to view
  4. On startup it could be used to release the compression from the cylinders to make turning over easier saving wear and tear on the starter and batteries. It helped out good especially in colder weather. On the older older cummins (i think in the 50s) before the electric fuel cutoff soleniod it came out on the pumps they were used to shut off the engine.
  5. and the compression relief valve and chain on the cummins is visible in one of the shots
  6. that guy got both my dad and I....we heard what sounded like a jet engine running and it looked like the damn thing was running from a distance....We walked up on it and figured out he had a small electric motor turning it over and secretly placed speakers everywhere. Pretty good laugh on us..
  7. Thats a lighter front end under it too. I not sure of the specs for DM's in those years but i thought they had heavier front axles.
  8. Welcome! Your right down the road for the "B-MODEL PARTS MECCA" of the world- Watts Mack in New Alex. If you need any advice on getting parts locally pm me. I'm from pittsburgh too and know where the good people are!
  9. happy bday!
  10. Thanks everyone! Yinz guys aren't as bad as they say! And by they I mean Pacc*r owners!
  11. CLINTON,PA outside of pittsburgh.
  12. That's what he's on an isle. No one else would be willing to stand up and say that kind of stuff and he is truly grassroots, not having a big super PAC or held any other office.
  13. so I was watching a the state channel (PCN)tonight as the tour different facilities across the keystone state and the show about ancelormittal coatsville mill just ended and this guy caught my attention-I normally don't post political theme topics but this guys makes a lot of sense to me. He is a small business owner who is running for US Senator; a REAL blue collar guy. He basically says get manufacturing base back in the USA and get this ship righted again http://www.joevodvarka.com/index.html
  14. Yeah thats a fair price..I was talking with barry a few years ago and someone was willing to reproduce them for somewhere in the neighborhood of $1400 i think...
  15. Measure your trunion stand and mounts on each side to see if its the parallel to one another and the same distance back. It looks like the truck had some butchered frame work. If fabbed and welded correctly(make the frame or frames "z-ed" and staggered joints and weld stick weld "SMAW" not mig with a 7014 or 7018 rod) there should be no question to longevity and strength of the frame. We've done it to a couple 10yrd smith mixers on triaxle DM's and they've lasted for the life of the truck.... Add the crossmembers as mentioned above. Look for egg shaped mounting holes for any all the suspension parts. Look at the torque arm ends to see if they have loose or worn out eyes. Look at the insulator bottom pads and boxes for cracks(if aluminum replace) Check all center bolts on the springs to see if any of them are sheered off.

  17. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with some of the points but the sources seem a little phony... heres the link to Dr. Walter Williams @George Mason University...http://econfaculty.gmu.edu/wew/
  18. When I went with tubeless in 2008 it was- ten- 22.5 tubless rims from junk yard-$200.00 eight-recapped virgin casing (pulled from production line at goodyear for quality assurance)-$1825 included blasting/powder coating rims and mounting 2-New Steer Tires-$725 included blasting/powder coating rims, balance bean bags, and mounting. Total-$2750 plus FET Plus they took the old casings of my tube-type free of charge. This was a deal because of a long time business relationship with this tire outfit.
  19. Its there lol you can see the lug and wedge. It does look ilke that tho! I had to look real hard at it
  20. thats pretty damn cool! Does anyone have and info on this move? Seems like it was a truck club or something? Looks like its in the mid 90's too
  21. Very well said!
  22. http://pittsburgh.about.com/c/ht/00/10/How_Haluski_Cabbage_Noodles0972520187.htm Hunky is a derogatory word to describe-Polish,Ukrainian,Slovak,and Lithuanian, which I am, I just so happened that a lot of these nationalities were brought over to work in the mills and coal mines in and around pittsburgh.....If you want good quality pierogies you have to get them from an older lady in a babushka! Thats what my grandma and her friends always had on when they were making them for the annual street festivals.lol
  23. Its getting the season (lent) for some pierogies, haluski, and fish frys! Wash it down with some ice cold Iron or I.C. LIght. This Yankee food is actually HUNKY food. As I am half Mill Hunky we tend to know this thing lol Pittsburgh is spelled with a H on the end!
  24. Do you have one or need one? If you have one you may be better off getting it rebulit I think a new one is kinda expensive like 1500k-2500k range. Did you try ebay?
  25. I think my might have been "Zefro Trucking"... They were from down the river there, Monongahela or Donora. They ran a bunch of brockways but went out of business a few years ago.
