  1. Too cool! Nice hood and style. Best of luck with the project.
  2. Why would the cab need to be replaced at 500,000 miles?!? Seems only to add to the astronomical expense of the unit. How many of our old diesel trucks are still on the road with millions of miles? I purchased a brand new CX in 2000 the truck is still on the road, still looks and performs well, and must be around 2 million miles with the 3rd owner. WITH THE ORIGINAL CAB and major components. Pretty good ROI I would say.
  3. I would like to live in a "non contagious" state. I forgot to get my flu shot this year.
  4. I've seen that a couple times before in some Heavy Haul applications... You don't have to rely on the jaws to pull the load... rather you are pulling against the plate
  5. I think it looks good on the Ford leave it there [emoji13]
  6. I think it may be time for Autocar to expand its product line...
  7. Happy new year and good luck to all in 2017. I have a big change in plans for this year, if all my personal goals are met it will be good year for me.
  8. The copper line being at least 2 ft should satisfy this requirement, correct?
  9. Vlad, the placement of a single coil on the trailer has to do with weight distribution on the axles. With a spread axle trailer, the load can be moved back as the trailer axles can carry higher weight. 34,000lb. on a close tandem as on the drive axle in the picture, and a 10' spread axle as on OD's trailer is allowed 40,000lb. in most states.
  10. When I bought my MH, it had a nylon brake tube in the place you describe. I changed it out... I wouldn't trust it with the heat from the compressor. Nowadays, new trucks use stainless braided lines from the compressor outlet to the air dryer. Different lengths are available off the shelf, so that's what I put on mine.
  11. The D16 is available in Volvo's 780 conventional truck, what about the MP10 for the CH/ Granite? A heavy spec Granite could replace the Titan.
  12. Usually there is a Mack rail car at Macungie each year.
  13. Hope you all can see this, copied from Bulldog magazine 2013. The Snavely family is still working on this project.
  14. You're good to go, OD. Straub still available, direct from St. Mary's, PA
  15. Yeah, I remember my first mechanic job in the late '80s my boss getting Pedigreed exchange E6 for $7500 with a good core. Plus my labor to swap. Didn't make a lot of money at that job, but learned a lot. Was looking for some photos, but can't put my hand on them. Kearney Trucking in Portland, PA. had some sharp Macks back in the day.
  16. Vlad, the red truck is indeed a freightliner, with a water tank for dust control. Notice the spray nozzles on front and rear bumpers.
  17. That Blue one is Kevin All, I believe.
  18. IMHO the new 567 set forward is a classy looking truck, a suitable replacement for the 389. Not that I am shopping for a new truck.
  19. I see almost every Volvo more than 10 years old rusting at the bottom of the doors. Never seen a Mack CH can rot like that.
  20. Nice guy to talk to, the owner of these trucks. He always made me feel welcome each time I stopped by. But after 2-3 stops, l figgered he wasn't selling anything. Seems like he still has every truck he has ever owned. Several peterbilts and KWs on the other side of the road belong to the same owner.
  21. I stopped by and looked 10 years ago, owner not ready to sell anything... At that time looked like not much value there even for parts. Too far gone.
  22. They want low initial cost with a warranty, and then trade it away once the warranty is gone.
  23. I've seen quite a few old Brocks use a straight 5-speed with multi speed axle.
  24. Oh, forgot to mention... My F model has 2 sticks lol
  25. Probably a 2 or 3 speed rear axle to shift like that.
