  1. I think back to another thread about the road train driving Granny who said " computers will suck the brain out of your head"... All this technology in trucks is dumbing down the industry, removing the thought and decision making away from the driver. The lowest common denominator is dopes who rely on technology to think for them. Spend the money on quality driver training, and you will see safety improve. CSA scoring, mandating technology, but still no training standard in the industry. Common sense and decision making skills are being forced out of the trucking industry.
  2. Housing is down now... according to Pocahontas Warren, Trump should be buying not selling...
  3. Conservatives are too busy working for a living... no time to protest or riot in the streets. But we WILL have time to vote come November. All this progressive thuggery only helps Donald Trump. The silent majority will be heard at the ballot box.
  4. Young people don't know a life before computers and electronics... like Granny said in the article, " computer sucks the brain out of your head"
  5. Most liberals don't realize NPR is supported by tax dollars. They wouldn't even be on the air without government subsidies. They can't even GIVE that kool-aid away.
  6. None with my 1985 truck. Problem solved. Consider it my safe space.
  7. This is part of my issue...the E-logs still rely on driver input, so how is it any better or safer than a paper log? It is more monitoring device, I liken it to an ankle bracelet on a convicted criminal.
  8. Another deciding factor... I spend way too much time on the I-95 corridor between Baltimore and NYC.
  9. I hope to have my own truck on the road before the end of the year. I enjoy my car hauling job now, but not looking forward to electronic logs. My company is highly dependent on electronics. We already have GPS tracking and cameras in the trucks, with E-logs coming soon. My new venture may or may not involve hauling cars.
  10. I run a lot of NYC/ Long Island at my current job. The money is the best the company has to offer, but I am sure not to leave anything there. Hope to stay west of the Hudson in my upcoming self-employed venture.
  11. Mayor Bill DeBlasio disturbs my social beliefs.
  12. I am offended by this politically correct BS and will retire to my safe space now. Mine has alcohol, though, not cocoa.
  13. I still have the first CB I bought, a Realistic(radio shack) almost 30 years old. Still use it in my Jeep.
  14. I did see that on the box, negative ground only. I converted my F-model to 12v negative ground long ago.
  15. I may put it in my F-MODEL , but I would have to build an enclosure. I don't want to cut the dashboard. I already have a CB, but no AM/FM. Doubt I would be able to hear it anyway.
  16. Also scored a full set of 4 halogen lamps for my MH. The halogens were a bit pricey, though... spent $2 for all 4.
  17. Found this at a local garage sale Saturday...not sure if I will use it, wasn't really looking for it, but a cool bit of history. Brand new in the box. Books, catalog, and FCC permit application included. Circa 1976.
  18. I don't recall seeing any plumbers candles at Al Gore's house except for the ones to hook up the heated swimming pool LOL
  19. The tree huggers, liberals, labor unions and the Obama administration has been creating "facts" for years.
  20. Haven't really got into specifics on mine yet, but cab parts inside & out and the grille if it's better than mine lol. Does yours have the level 3 Blue interior? I have a parts truck coming soon, but it has the plain gray inside.
  21. Just got notice this month that my power company applied to the PUC for a rate increase. Mine will go up another 13%. Met-Ed in PA. THANK GOODNESS they shut down many coal units recently and got the CHEAPER natural gas units up and running. Oh, and I thought petroleum prices are down this year for the oil fired plants, too?!?
  22. Keg1 let me know when you're done with that MH I might be interested in picking at the carcass. Gregg
  23. I feel privileged to have an I-shift. Makes a long day in NYC not so physically stressful. Also allows you to focus on other aspects of driving. Lots of features on the I-shift like manual control and kickass engine braking if you read the manual and learn how to use it. My company has about 40 of them, and maybe 10 drivers actually know how to utilize the full potential. Clutch and driveline failure near zero as well.
  24. Just be careful working with those rims and tires. Remember what happened to me last year with an old tube type rim rusted to the breaking point. Gregg
  25. I would like to have wind and solar to power my own home, only to be self-sufficient. My electric bill is almost unmanageable, but start up costs for solar is prohibitive also. However, solar and wind power are not cost effective to provide power to the masses.
