  1. with all these problems with new and almost new trucks I would be going old school the old coolpower Macks are cheap to buy and cheap to run I know it's not the answer you are chasing but I feel you could buy 7 old R models fix everything that needs fixing on them and they would still be cheaper than just one new truck and if you keep them looking shmick the drivers will like driving them cheaper to run easier to fix no need to plug a laptop into them can get parts anywhere

I agree except try to find a new breed "driver" willing to drive an old R-model.

  2. Are you talkin' about me?

I have an exemption number "FMCSA 390.3 (f)(3)" on the side of my MH. Basically it states you are only using the truck for personal use and not for hire. You are not getting paid and that includes prize money, trophies, etc. It is not licensed as an Antique (1992 model) but as a commercial vehicle. Since it is not an antique (25 years old) I put the exemption number on the side to hopefully eliminate any questions. If your vehicle is licensed as an Antique you should not need an exemption. But as others have stated, check with your local DMV.

If the DRIVER is an antique, you can claim senility at the scale house and be exempt from any and all liability. [emoji12]

  3. Ship? that's some ones old, beat up "pleasure craft"

nice girls in cars. Did see the elusive "bald eagle" the other day. Couldn't get a pic though.

Looks like the S.S. Minnow, Skipper.

  4. Lucky you made it home... Usually when the supply pump quits, it is complete and without warning. I got in the habit of carrying a spare in the toolbox.

As far as drain intervals, call me crazy but I ran my 2000 427 E-tech at 20,000 mile intervals using Mobil Delvac 15w-40. The Mack service manual allows 25,000 mile intervals. This engine had bearings rolled in once and now has over 1.5 million miles without overhaul. Not bragging but I must have been doing something right all that time. Mack's 3 filter system is far superior to other engine brands and IMHO allows longer drain intervals.

  5. Thanks, Tom. I enjoy the pics of western PA and WV as I don't get out that way as often as I did before.

Ran steady Pittsburgh and up & down the Ohio River in a former life, mostly placard loads, so no turnpike... Got to know 22, 322, 422 very well with my E7.

  6. Cool "truck", stupid exhaust. I bet that 1.6L IDI motor has a hard time filling the stack, let alone rolling coal. Unless its been swapped for an ALH or BEW 1.9l TDI

I wasn't able to get a pic as he merged on to I-695, (I took a big chance getting one pic, anybody familiar with I-695 can testify) but he actually rolled coal pretty good...

I had a VW pickup like this and don't remember it smoking that bad.

  7. In addition to Brocky, MIA were Doug, Dave Igou, and likely a few others. We been doing the "BMT nooner" for several years so everyone should know.....Saturday 12N at Watt's tent. And if you have problems telling time, both the big and little hands are on 12.

Sorry I missed it... So much going on I always try to forget about time at macungie. No logbook no need for a watch

  8. That chrome glove box door is probably worth the price of admission... Although those interior photos don't seem to match those trucks. one can clearly see a tall air breather looking from the inside out, but neither one of those trucks has a tall breather?!?
