  1. I might have to make a new underdog T-shirt... My old ones all seem to be shrinking lol. I'm glad you think my lowboy looks good it needs some serious cosmetic work I hope to have it in halfway decent shape before the show. I suppose I should get a license plate for it too lol
  2. Just make sure you know how to spell other dog so we don't get confused lol
  3. I will be there Thursday Friday Saturday. I got a lot of work to do as well. Hope to have my trailer ready so I can camp on site. The weather is not helping as I am outdoorsGregg
  4. You can mix Lucas with your regular hub oil but I ran it straight for many years in my own truck with good results
  5. Thanks Joe always a pleasure to see you and talk to you trying to get ready for ATHS in York. Do you think you might make it down there?Gregg
  6. Some pics of my work truck pic 1 with 9 units including 2 e-350 vans and pic 2 loaded with 11 Chevy Cruze's And a pic of my F-600 in the Labor day parade PenArgyl, PA
  7. I always ran Lucas hub oil and CR seals in steer and trailer in my working truck with good results. My new transporter at Brothers Auto came through with sealed hubs on the trailer, Hendrickson axles. I have seen freightliner use a lot on steer axles too. Last I remember around $600 for parts to replace .
  8. I wonder why then did the entire trucking industry convert over to oil hubs... Probably for ease of maintenance since grease bearings have to be repacked periodically. I notice too now for steer axles and trailers the trend is back to a sealed unit with grease on the wheel bearings so that tells me grease is a superior lubricant. I'm sure the technology has changed in 50 years as well any type of grease or oil that you can buy now is far better than 50 years ago.
  9. I have put trucks in service that have been sitting for awhile and that's exactly what happens... As soon as you start running them after sitting for several years every seal starts to leak wheel bearings transmission seals engine front and rear etc.
  10. Thanks,Fred good to be back. Still don't have a PC, but recently got this here newfangled smartphone so I can at least get online lol. Been through some changes for sure but on the way back up now, better every day. Looking ahead not back. Gregg
  11. Lots of good input, thanks guys. The bearings are the same, just need to thoroughly clean all old lubricant before changing over. Whatever your choice oil or grease, never mix them together. I decided to go with the grease based on gearhead204's comments regarding condensation. Makes sense for a hobby truck occasional use.
  12. Thanks for the input, Quickfarms. My donor axle has oil hubcaps, so I have the parts to go either way. Just have to buy new seals. Swapping axles but keeping my original hubs spokes with the chrome Mack hubcaps.
  13. I am in the process of swapping steer axles on my F 600 and I am curious to hear any opinions about wheel bearing lubrication. Do I retain the grease packed bearings or switch to oil lube? IMHO grease provides superior lubrication (except maybe in extreme cold) so then why did the entire industry switch over to oil hubs? Easier maintenance is the only advantage I can see.
  14. Had a 1984 superliner (round headlights) RW721LST. According to the serial number was one of the first RW's built in Macungie. Superliner ll with square lights and other updates pretty much indicates the switch from Hayward to Macungie plant. Damn, wish I had that truck back again...
  15. All I remember is my dad had a volare that my brother wrecked and had to rent a K car... Made us pray for the return of the slant-6 volare! Put 4 adults in the Aries-K and you were in the climbing lane with the trucks!
  16. Every once in a while I see a K car and just shake my head... They weren't supposed to last 30+ years! I can't believe that POS saved Chrysler from bankruptcy! I guess Lee Iaccoca was right
  17. I had issues with the inner steel wheel breaking until I installed the plastic insulator between.
  18. in response to some of your posted questions, I did build a new engine for my F model, sort of a Frankenstein E6 block crank and heads with my thermodyne pump and manifolds, and duplex trans. It has been up and running since Memorial Day 2013. And yes I am still hauling cars for a living except now I have a 2015 Volvo ( almost a Mack lol)
  19. I do remember the hot sauce, other dog... Can't say that was the cause of my ills...
  20. Thanks farmer! I believe we met at Macungie last year
  21. Hello again to those who may remember me... And fond greetings to those I have not met! It is Underdog back from the brink! It has been near 3 years by my best guess since I last conversated on these airwaves... Boy have I been through some changes in my life but finally have a moment and the wherewithal to sit down with my newfangled smartphone and log in and create a post. Computer gone (lost it in the divorce),my pride & joy Mack Vision gone (as a result of the divorce) house soon to be gone(refer to previous causation). But HEY not looking for sympathy, just want to re connect with friends old & new! I do still have my F-model so all is right with the world! Keep your gratitude above your expectations and you will have good days! Looking forward to rejoining the community.
  22. You know what they say... "The road of life is paved with good intentions" and I fully intend to have my F-607 up & running in time for Gerhart's show. I have lots of other BS going on in my life right now, but working on the F and having a goal in mind is therapy for me. Hope to see y'all at the show. Might even ask for Friday off work to attend my first clambake. Gregg
  23. I know the feeling. I gotta sell some trucks but hard to decide... I like 'em all!
  24. I have used a product for years called RUST-X from a company called PRO-TEK Industries. I will not endorse the company because their sales tactics are borderline criminal. I had a bad experience involving phone sales and my credit card. That said, it turned out to be a worthwhile product that I have been satisfied with. I use it mostly for rust control on the framerails, and have not had any trouble with paint adhesion over the RUST-X. These products work best if some rust remains on the surface, rather than cleaning down to bare metal as the iron oxide is part of the chemical reaction. Gregg
  25. Yes this is Richie's show. I give him a lot of credit for putting it all together, he does a lot for the truckers' image out there. I was sizing up the sleeper on his truck, too. I shall not throw stones since the bunk on my RW is the same size... too small ! ! ! Gregg
