I took my largest car to the East Coast Large Car show at Sussex County (NJ) fairgrounds Saturday. Not a lot of Mack action, but an interesting show close to home. Mostly newer Paccars but a laid back atmosphere where I met a few friends, old and new. I also got to meet up with BMT's own TBone, who was gracious enough to give up his spot in the shade. Good to meet you TBone, and thanks again.
My Superliner before and after the move into the shade. The 1962 Emeryville belongs to my buddy Trucker Bill the mayor of Ackermanville, PA. It is always a lot of fun attending shows with Bill, a lifelong trucker now retired and enjoying life.
Not a Mack, but car haulers are a new interest in my life so I include it here.

If them gals were to donate their thongs, they could be used to safely tie off the right mirror bracket to a ground point as an anchor during U-model driver entry/egress.

any one or all together would provide suitable counterweight in the shotgun position.

seems to be going good. I am learning a lot about crude oil and its workings, people seem to be very happy to have me on board (not blowing my own horn there is just lots of bad workers out there). I think a have at least another week or so of training before I get sent on my route.
No need to blow your horn... Just be reliable and use common sense you will be a standout nowadays. I started a new job 4 months ago hauling cars, and my boss says he hires 10 to get 1 or 2 good employees. I show up every day for work and use my head, and the boss seems pleased with my progress so far.

My local parts house, Cyphers truck parts in Stroudsburg (yes that was a shout out, good bunch of guys I've been dealing with for years), gets their clutches from D & W. I like to support the local businesses, so I sent my clutch to D & W through them to be rebuilt.

Thanks to all for the info. Time to go to work now but I will take the numbers with me and get in touch with these folks about my clutch this week.

A couple more years and you'll be singing about some special girl and not thinkin at all about the truck. Hopefully you find a gal that's not too lopsided...

I see you are in Bangor Pa. I am down here in Hellertown- I had great luck with a place in Baltimore for the Lipe-Brown cluch in my 1958 FWD. I cant remember the name of the place for the life of me though- but I do remember they had a place in Wilmington, Delaware which is where they had me drop it off at and pick it up, and they trucked to and from their shop in Baltimore which is where they do the actual work. Really nice folks, very knowledgeable. I will look up their name in my book out in the garage later tonight or tomorrow and get back to you. I probably wrote down the phone number too.
Thanks for the reply, FWD. I was quite disappointed when the parts guys in Allentown said "good luck with that". Usually I can get what I need through them.

There is an early single axle R for sale here in Bangor. I have not checked on it yet as the price marked $6,900 scared me off so far. It doesn't look to me to be worth the asking price. I will investigate further and post my findings.

Starting to collect all the pieces to install the engine/ transmission back into my F-model. I will definitely be needing a clutch disc, and perhaps a pressure plate and flywheel. The metal surfaces are heat cracked quite deep. Can anyone offer a source for these parts or a shop that can rebuild my cores? The Mack dealer has not been able to come up with anything yet. It is a CL-28 model clutch used with a 673P and TRD-67 duplex. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Keep in mind the CH 612 is a single drive axle. Don't know if this fits into your plans.

I remember the truck you speak of, and spoke to the owner briefly a few times over the years, though did not know him very well. Seems I ran into him usually at the Citgo truck stop in Smithton, PA. or passed him somewhere on the PA turnpike every week. IIRC he was the original owner and the truck had a 238 Detroit Single drive and a 3-axle covered flatbed. I saw that truck regularly up until '05 or '06 then he upgraded to a single drive IH CO 9670 (same trailer) then after a couple years I never saw the truck or the man again.
Found this picture of the trailer hooked to the "new" IH, but couldn't find a pic of the Crackerbox...still a mystery.

looking at picking up a 01ch612 350 fuller9 spd 590.000 miles anything i should look out for with the eng or elect. just a spare so when doing work onthe rw i can still move some frieght. oh and its cheap
01 is a good one before all the emissions BS. The only trouble might be the camshaft, but with almost 600,000 it has probably already been replaced. My '00 427 CX has been basically bulletproof.

Thanks to the Yarnall family for having us out to the pole barn on Saturday. Nice to get the truck out for a ride, sort of a warm-up for the show season. The weather mostly co-operated with rain holding off most of the afternoon, except we couldn't talk Mike into turning up the heat in the barn! No matter, plenty of interesting trucks to keep our minds occupied!
Also nice to meet & greet with some of the BMT family, namely Leversole and mhe9. Good to put names and faces together. Hope to see you folks again throughout the summer.

Yeah, then I think Yellow had a terminal there that's closed now and their old yard is more truckstop parking lot. It's not even White's anymore- might be a Petro or something, I don't remember. That old "White's Truckstop" sign was laying over by 81 for a long time, don't know if it still is. I haven't stopped there for years myself, don't know what became of the knife and gun collection that was in there- it might still be there.
Stopped at White's quite regular up until I changed jobs a month ago, just don't run down that way anymore. It is a PETRO now, and the company I was leased to got a decent fuel discount at T/A's and PETRO, so I continued to stop there after the change. IMHO still one of the better stops in the area, decent food, clean showers, and many of the same people working there. My only complaint might be the "new breed" of clientele that the big name fuel stops bring in.
Oh, well could be worse... at my new job the preferred fuel stop is PILOT grrrrrr.... I don't have much use for PILOT or the fast food they offer. Wait 10 minutes to get to the fuel pump, wait another 10 minutes in line for a fuel receipt and a cup of coffee and another 10 minutes for traffic to clear so you can exit the too small parking lot. Location doesn't matter, every PILOT seems to be the same.

thats cool, what year is it?
Quite sure it is a 1980 with a 285 and overdrive 6-speed.

i took a picture of that truck last year at macungie. did he cut the frame? cause dm's didnt have single axles.
Vinny, this truck was originally a tandem roll-off truck. It was already cut when my buddy got it. It even has one of the original "top loader" drive axles. The job was done well though; it has been a tractor for years and drives like a dream.

Are you sure about that? The U was made into the 80's and the short cab stopped in 72. I might go look at that truck this week just to see what it is.
Someone here correct me if I am misinformed, but in keeping with the original purpose of the U model (short BBC), the shorter cab was retained throughout the entire model run.

To inflate her she needs the standard schrader. When randyp borrows her she is used to the smaller sports type.
Other dog has his own.
Rob
Hopefully RandyP uses the proper saliva lubrication technique prior to insertion of said sports needle, to avoid receptacle damage.

That would be handy for smaller jobs and backyard deliveries. I would say it is a DM as the U model didn't have the "plus 3" cab.

Thanks, randyp. The camera phone didn't do too bad. The pics always look better put up on a larger screen. I delete a lot as soon as I shoot because they never look good when viewed on the phone itself.
