  1. They look great, Rob. Then all you need to buy is my B-61 LST to put behind one of your newly aquired emblems. Gregg
  2. Specifically what parts? I have a complete B-61 with decent floor I am looking to sell or part out. I don't really want to cut up the cab but I will sell the entire cab. BTW welcome to the forum. Gregg
  3. Providing the best defense against cling-ons... Speedy delivery of your charmin & white cloud. Gregg
  4. Thanks for all the good wishes, everyone. I take it one day at a time, since I never PLANNED on making it this far! My big wish this year is for a speedy recovery for Red F607T. Dr. Underdog will do his best. Gregg
  5. That F model is WAY COOL and appears in good condition! Looks like a road tractor. Scrap the dump body. Gregg
  6. What kind of mpg are you gettn with your truck? steady 6mpg pulling dump trailer gross weight 80,000lb Gregg
  7. Thank you all for input so far. I have owned this truck almost 3 years but as a hobby truck have not put many miles on. Upon teardown, evidence suggests that engine work was done not long ago (most gaskets appear new, the engine is very clean inside, and head gaskets are aftermarket). This all relates to the comments so far. I had the injection pump redone, but did not check or change the timing. I also had concerns about the oil in the last few weeks, it seemed to be gaining oil on the stick, but I did not detect coolant or fuel. Oil appeared normal upon drain, only a lot of bearing metal in the pan. Originality is not my pimary concern, as I do plan to work this truck a bit. Heck, I was starting to line up work for it this summer! The best option in my mind at this point is to repower as Rob suggests. I already have 2 donor trucks out back, now to choose which one to part out. Gregg
  8. I tore down the thermodyne today after last week's breakdown. Prior to the failure, I noticed excessive blow-by from the crankcase vent tube. The blow-by got much worse accompanied by a severe rod knock. With these symptoms in mind, I expected to find an issue with a piston or liner. The only failure I found was a spun bearing on #2 connecting rod. I pulled that piston and all looks normal. All 6 pistons appear to have 1 or 2 hairline cracks in a starburst pattern on the crown. How would a spun bearing relate to the original symptom of excessive blow-by? I am also accepting any and all advice on a cost effective repair for the crankshaft journal. I assume to do this right the engine and crankshaft need to be removed. Gregg
  9. I was wondering if my comments would get your attention, Thumper. No offense intended, you deserve much credit for keeping a top-notch piece of equipment. I suppose I am a bit jealous, I can't seem to find the time to keep my truck clean running in the northeast weather. Gregg
  10. I prefer " PINOCHLE ", an old school card game that my dad used to play. Gregg
  11. Speaking from experience, I REMOVED the side fairings from my CX in 2007 with no loss of fuel economy. Made no difference at all. I did gain 400 pounds of tare weight though, so I am better off without the side fairings.
  12. Nice truck, owner Jerry Kissinger just got an award from Shell for going 1 million miles without an overhaul. Not to be a wise guy, but why does a 20 year old truck only have 1 million miles on it? My WORKING truck has more miles in half the years. Mine would be shined up for the calendar too if I only had to work part-time. BTW, I wouldn't put Rotella in my lawn mower. 1.2 million on my Mack with Mobil DELVAC. Gregg
  13. I have been for several years attempting to train the neighbohood cats to alter their spray habits away from my shiny wheels, into circular patterns directly onto my tires. So far, my research indicates that cats are not easily conditioned. They do not respond well to Pavlovian bribery such as dogs will. My earlier experiments focused on training said cats to urinate into receptacles, to be collected later and manually applied to the tire sidewalls. However, the cats proved to be smarter than truck drivers, as they refuse to pee in a bottle and leave it lay for someone else to pick up. Gregg
  14. Are the valves turned on under the hood? There should be shut off valves on the heater hoses where they attach to the engine. Also check the cable or air operated heater control valve inline on the heater hose to be sure that is moving when you move the lever in the cab. Gregg
  15. Underdog will be there, without a truck, unfortunately. I took the F607T out to the Metro Jersey chapter ATHS show on June 5 and had a serious breakdown on the way home. I noticed some blow-by in the last couple weeks, more than usual, and I think I lost a piston, started hammering really bad 10 miles from home. We made it home OK on the tow truck, but I gotta pull the heads next week to see what's going on inside. Don't think it will be up & running again in time for Macungie. That was my only roadworthy antique. My Vision isn't old enough yet to sit at the grown-up table LOL. I will wear a T-shirt with my F607 on the front, so all the friends I haven't met be sure to say hello. See you all there. Gregg
  16. All the cops and Firefighters were at the Memorial day parade in Bangor... When the cat's away, the Bulldogs will play. Gregg
  17. No of course not the truck!!! I need a ride home after cashing in the trailer. Did pretty well too. The F performed flawlessly and the scrap priced at $9 per hundred. Made back $800 today. Gregg
  18. A few more action shots... My daughter Maggie busy with the camera. Polly and Maggie escorted behind, since this wagon had no lights. I wanted to move it today while I had time & daylight. I dropped it at the scrapyard and will return first thing in the morning to roll it across the scales and cash it in. Gregg
  19. I like to see my trucks earn their keep, so I have been getting the F607 ready to start generating some revenue. First up, the trailer I got along with my B-61 needed to go straight to the scrapyard. A job easily handled by "BIG RED" as we have come to call her.
  20. Seems like you would be money ahead to buy my B-61 LST for the bargain price of $1,500...
  21. With the Vision "diamond" pattern hand hole aluminum wheels, it is possible to get the hand holes to where you can't access the inside stem at all. Very frustrating when you need to pull a wheel just to check air. Nothing frustrates me more than careless, hasty mechanics. I guess that is why I have settled on doing most of my own work. At least if something is screwed up, I know who to get mad at! Gregg
  22. Before the building went up in Allentown in 1971, Plainfield, NJ was Mack headquarters. The engine plant was also there prior to the Hagerstown facility. Gregg
  23. A few ounces of wheel weight can throw off the balance of the assembly. If a valve stem weighs a few ounces, Would that not affect the balance?!? I am with Randy on this one, 180 degrees apart. An added bonus, you don't have to hunt for the inside stem. You know right where it is for checking pressure. Gregg
  24. It is curious that Mack would use a vendor engine in such a machine. Perhaps with the E9 still in development in the late '70s the engineers didn't feel their own V8 was ready to go. Gregg
  25. Not my truck but a cool Autocar for sale near Wind Gap, PA. Seller is asking $4,500.00 Cummins engine, RT915 roadranger, aluminum frame, Page & Page rear suspension.
