  1. This is all very confusing... The last I saw this truck, it ended up in Julian,PA below Milesburg on old 220, it has been sitting there for at least 6 months nose in away from the road as if not for sale. Anyway I have decided to pass on the Superdog, because I just can't bear to part with my trusty ol CX that I have had since new. I would hate to break up the team. As Rob might say, it's cheaper to keep her...
  2. Perhaps the noise you heard was a compression leak near the missing head nut. Sometimes a new bolt/ stud and retorque the head will do. If the gasket is blown and the head must come off, like you said- not difficult, only bigger. Years ago I made a simple set of T-bars that screw into the valve cover boltholes to facilitate lifting one head at a time.
  3. More snake oil, I say. I ran a Fuel Preparator(same principle as FASS, they stole the technology) on my E-TECH 427 for three years with no advantage in horsepower or fuel economy. When I replaced fuel lines and converted to single draw/single return, I removed the unit and put it on the shelf where it sits. If anybody would like to try it, I will send it along with exta filters for the cost of shipping.
  4. Now that you all have this figured out, I will insert the proverbial monkey wrench. At the ATCA Northeast PA chapter meet in Harford Sunday, we came across a 1979 U-model tractor with the plastic dashboard but the SHORT CAB. My friends and I had this same debate over when the cabs were updated, and if the U-model was an exception to the rule, perhaps in keeping the BBC short as was the purpose of the U-model.
  5. Been by that Mack garage in Aurora many times myself. I am sure you noticed the bulldog on the top of the roof.
  6. The truck pictured definitely has Dayton/spoke hubs. The hubs would have to be changed to accept any kind of aluminum disc or "Budd" wheel. Not worth the trouble IMHO. Why buy the truck only to change all the components?!? These DMs were bulletproof as built, very well engineered. If the components don't suit you, it would be more practical to find another truck.
  7. H-models are one of the coolest Macks. But what really caught my eye are those diamond plate headlight surrounds on the R! WAY COOL!
  8. Definitely follow through on the troubleshooting, simplest things first. Depending on the miles, I would look at rod & main bearings if it is a hot only condition. I rolled new bearings into my 427 E-TECH at around 650,000 when oil pressure dropped to 10 psi hot idle. Mine has 1,115,000 on it now not yet been overhauled. 25 psi at idle.
  9. Greetings and welcome to the forums. I like your avatar. Looks kinda familiar...
  10. I wonder how much owner input goes into the trucks on that show. I don't think I could just hand over the keys to one of my trucks. I would have to open a can of WHOOP-ASS for the reveal at the end of the show...
  11. Never Gonorrhea Lectim again! Throw da bums out!
  12. You and I must be out of touch, Rob. I don't much like any of the TRICK MY TRUCKS from the TV show. I rather like to see a practical vintage work truck.
  13. Looks like maybe a B-71.
  14. That truck was done a few years ago on TRICK MY TRUCK
  15. We still got a few shows left this season!!! Why you trying to bum me out? BTW missed you at Macungie this year. I am gonna try to make Winchester next month. I prefer my F models without frosting.
  16. The smoke laws in NJ are total BS. As long as your truck meets emission specs for the year it was built, I say take 'em to court and fight every ticket. If you have an '03 how can your truck meet '07 specs? Even if the state wants to lower the opacity level, older trucks should be grandfathered.
  17. some of my personal pics from the show... My F and a friend's DM A good shot of the new wheels and exhaust My dog was sooo excited to be there...
  18. Our American Bulldog, born 11/10/09
  19. Leave it to Rob to make sense of any situation... That was a close one, thanks for talking me down, Rob. Gregg
