  1. Well I’m sure you guys are probably sick of hearing about this truck but I have some progress in the works. i brought the truck to a new shop after I went back to the guys that were previously doing the work and they told me “I don’t know what to tell you” this shop it’s out now is where I should have gone in the first place but they don’t do motor work and I tried to kill 2 birds with one stone. so far they took the drive shaft down check it out and balanced it, put a couple new u-joints in, and re-packed it. They did a complete check on the under carriage and also found a wheel bearing that was literally falling apart so we replaced that as well. My king pins needed adjusting and my tie rod as well. I took the truck for a test drive after he completed the work so far and it feels like we’re getting somewhere. He’s going to drop the tranny on Monday and try to determine what the clutch issue is. He has some ideas on what it may be but isn’t a part changer just for the hell of it. He’s the first person that is actually checking everything out and not guessing. He seems to think there’s an alignment problem with the transmission so he’s going to check the bellhousing and flywheel housing a also dial indicate the flywheel. They also said the were going to put a new flywheel and clutch on to test it and that I do t have to buy it unless we determine that it’s the culprit of my problems.I’m starting to feel relief that I’m dealing with someone that isn’t trying to put us into a bigger hole if it’s not going to fix the truck. ill give another update when I hear back from them
  2. I just did mine on an 08 mp7. Around 50,000 miles.. mack talked me into replacing with the updated cups and injectors
  3. Our 2012 mp8 has pretty much been a reliable hard working truck. We have had our fair share of issues with aftertreatment system . Basically replaced whole system twice since 2012. But the motor has treated us well. A water pump and that was basically the extent of repairs besides accessories like fan clutch and air conditioner compressor.
  4. I love the granites. And it looks pretty good for an 08 and the mileage is really low. I just hope the injector issue gets resolved and let’s the truck get out and earn it’s keep. I do wish it had an mp8 instead of the 7 but we’ll see how it does
  5. Got it ... I was guessing acorn cap nuts ... what finish u think I should use? I bought chrome acorn nuts from Home Depot for my mirors when I replaced the old seized ones and they’re completely rusted already.
  6. The link brings me to a main page. Which nut should I search for to use for replacement of the plastic nuts?
  7. I guess it makes sense... the filters definately aren’t cheap. I’ll extend the intervals longer. mack really knows what they’re doing when it comes to those stupid plastic nuts that hold the top of the air cleaner closed on the RD.. I must have to replace those nuts like twice a year. That adds like another $120 to the maintenance cost lol
  8. Got it down to 130ish. Took a little playing around but got it... I should’ve bought a Bendix governor when I was getting compressor and dryer but I bought some after market one from new star or something like that... the adjustment screw won’t turn with a screw driver I had to use pliers. Cheap junk
  9. The restriction gauge stopped working years ago. I guess I can replace it but I figured the truck is constantly in dirty/dusty environments so might as well take a little extra precaution on preventative maintenance
  10. Got it . Very helpful site. Thank you
  11. Awesome thank you! how sensitive is each turn of the screw? Does that make sense? Like how many turns do u think I have to make to reduce cut out about 30 lbs?
  12. I hey guys. I just switched out my air compressor today because I was getting a lot of oil in my air tanks. I swapped compressor, air dryer, and governor. It’s working nice, only problem is that it used to cut off at 130 psi and now it’s going straight to 150 before it purged and builds to 150. Did I do something wrong? Is there an adjustment that I can make to go back to 130?
  13. I heard the same . They just changed to common rail last year?
  14. The truck is at legacy mack getting the work done
  15. I’m in the process of trying to work something out. The guy “assured”us the truck was in “perfect” condition. We’ll see what happens. I hope he’s a stand up guy. And I hope this mack dealer is better than my local dealer at diagnosing and doing repairs.
  16. Andddd it begins! Fuel primer was had a leak so they replaced it and it’s still losing prime. Now they’re saying I need injector cups and injectors. They also found an air leak that they fixed for a grand total of 7,000. And I didn’t even register the truck yet. I hope these repairs will solve the problem and the truck can get to work and make some money.
  17. Lol I know.. this truck is actually an 08 granite with an mp7. The mileage is reallllyy low. Only 50,000 miles . It’s a volumetric concrete mixer . I some some threads about doing a delete I was looking into otrperformace . Maybe that will alleviate some future headaches
  18. Thanks lol you prob would save me from anxiety and high blood pressur Broke down in Lamar pensylvania at a truck stop. The driver for the delivery company shut the truck down and couldn’t restart it. I think it’s losing it’s prime. I tried to have him do some checks and try a couple things but he couldn’t even find the hand primer. I had the truck towed to Mack out there I was told it was only 60 miles away. So we’ll see what happens. I really hope it’s nothing major
  19. I know right . I’m hoping I’m getting somewhere with fixing this thing. I’m still going back and forth with the shop about the clutch flywheel issue. I really feel like they’re trying to cover something up and don’t wanna drop the tranny again . I just ordered another truck for a different business venture and on the way to New York from Iowa the truck broke down in Pennsylvania. I didn’t even get the truck yet and it’s giving me problems already!!!! I can only imagine the grief that one will cause me!
  20. I change the air filter every oil change which is about every 300-400 hours. It’s usually every 3 months. Every time I change them they’re always pretty clean but I do it anyway.the compressor however is original on the truck so I’m gonna just change it.
  21. Ordering compressor and dryer today.
  22. I was under the truck today and saw some oil around air tanks I went under and drained tanks and a shit ton of oil came spraying out of the tanks... I’m wondering if maybe my compressor is part of my problem. Is oil in the tanks a sure way to know the compressor needs replacing?
