Junk Yard Pics

Gonna try to get them when we get the CF an oil change, which will hopefully be when we get the L back from the shop, which shouldn’t be too much longer! -

It’s a single screw, or at,east that’s what’s left, but it’s wrapped in foliage and it’s hard to see much, not to mention the back has some miscellaneous parts on it that were taken off of surrounding trucks. But if I were to hazard a guess I’d say it is probably a prototype of some sort! -

So just moments ago the testbed for the technology required to reach Mars! All by a private corporation... so enjoy this video of their rocket lifting off and landing a short distance away at a landing pad! This is the future my friends!

I sure will share! Last I checked they had 7 Ls and 4 CFs and that’s all I counted because that’s what I need parts off of... -

A bunch of the truck there seem to be internal Allentown trucks, the white Superliner actually has (something) Development Line on it... a couple other trucks were drivetrain mules, most of them are from PA atleast. Most of these trucks have been parted out though, and they have a few really pretty running trucks, so it makes it pretty obvious where all the parts went... -

They also have a few motors on pallets that are all seized, and they have a 707 and that me and dad have been picking off and we still need it... so if anyone who goes could leave the firetrucks and that motor alone that would be great! I know that’s a lot to ask but we really need those parts and are trying to build up the funds to be able to get them... -

I’ve decided that just for a little while I’m gonna keep the location a secret so I can get the rest of the parts I need... If anyone does find it just do me a favor and leave the firetrucks alone, me and dad want to collect some parts off of a few them to finish restoring the two we have... and I will say that most of the trucks there are missing some pretty major things, but that’s not to say there aren’t a few in there that could be put back on the road with just a little work. I was actually looking at a firetruck there that would probably fire up if you charge up the batteries... In other words good luck! -

Well the shop discovered the valves were out of tune again but the main problem was the electric fuel pump in the back of the truck quit. Still looking for a replacement but for now we’re trying to bypass it. Next order of business is our main coolant leak is coming from the air compressor where the cab of it leaks, so we’ve got a new one coming in but it’ll take a while, in the mean time we’re getting a replacement just to make it easier to move around... hoping to get her back after that and it’s replacing some pieces of the water pump and some body work, then the cherry on top, a fresh coat of paint to match the original! All of it will happen in due time but we’re excited. Have a picture of it next to it’s new shop buddy! Not sure who’s it is but they look nice sitting next to eachother...

It’s in the original wiring diagrams for the truck so I’m certain it’s a stock part but yes it is a backup pump, similar to how it has two ignition coils and 2 sets of spark plugs...

Well as it turns out as soon as see get the mechanical fuel pump fixed the electric one at the back of the truck gives out... so we need a new one, does anyone know of any replacements for it, if provide more info but we’re on vacation right now and the shop just called us giving us the bad news... might be able to provide more information on Monday if it would help!

I showed this to my significant other and she asked if I made this because it’s to accurate to my daily thoughts!

I would like to confirm the idea that they’re all wearing hearing aids, everyone I know who’s ridden on either of our Macks for more than 10 minutes have hearing aids or they certainly need them...

1st official road test

A gorgeous rig, and hey, flaws add character! Gives a little personality to each and every truck. -
It’s my personal opinion that HOAs are unconstitutional because they’re designed specifically to regulate OTHER people’s personal property, and don’t even get me started on how I can’t fathom the legality of forcing someone to be a part of an HOA if YOU own the property... but that’s just my two sense...

Strasburg railroad is holding an event and are inviting all land vehicles from 1960 or earlier to help celebrate the arrival of Norfolk and Western #611 to the railroad on October 12-14. Here’s a link to the invitation with more information and have pictures of the locomotives that you’ll be parked next to! https://www.strasburgrailroad.com/rail-road-invitation-letter/

I’ve always had this fun idea where I get a bunch of guys together and basically do the run from the first movie but as a convoy. Each truck has its own blocker and on the way back to Atlanta a bunch of old police cars start following the convoy back home. I think it’s be interesting to some old muscle cars in between of a bunch of old trucks with trailers, then later on followed by a bunch of cop cars. I know I’m gonna end up doing it myself one day... I’ve just always wanted to do the run myself!

I’m glad I live where I do, when we were putting the L on a trailer to take it to the shop all our neighbors came by disappointed asking if we were selling it, luckily all turned to smiles when we explained were taking her to put some more life into that old 707 she’s got. Only time anyone’s ever complained was the neighbors who told people to park in our lawn to visit their yard sale and tore down a sign saying no parking... long story short there was soon a Ford fire engine screaming down the road spewing black smoke as it passed their house and the next day their garbage cans were full and smelled strongly of burnt diesel... we haven’t had any issues since! The neighborhood kids still drop their jaws whenever they hear the exhaust whistle screaming and a loud rumble come their way... It’s a shame not everyone can see these things the way these kids and old folk do... I’ve never seen a smile brighter than when we pulled up beside an old man in his 50s model convertible Corvette in a 1953 Mack Firetruck! Those moments right there make everything worth it...

If you were really desperate you could probably get someone to make you a 3D model and then print it to the measurements you need. Jut gotta find the right guy... -
Mack Rail – The Locomotives
CaptainCrutch replied to kscarbel2's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
Well personally I think it’d be an honor to have my pictures used to discuss history, or used at all and an example of something! It’d be different if someone tried to claim they took the photo themselves but that’s clearly not the situation here... but I guess people will do anything for money. It’s sad to see someone try to scam others out of money for sharing information, or in this case photos, that they have provided to the public. This would be a different story if he just responded “hey those are my pictures!” and left it at that but he had to go and threaten a lawsuit over it! thank you for sharing the history of Macks on rails, it’d be interesting to restore one of those AC based ones, it’d probably be easier than the other two, can’t believe nobody ever talks about Macks locomotives. -
Top Speed Estimate
CaptainCrutch replied to Mtchlcaney's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I love driving old i40 in the L, it can just about do the speed limit and it nice just to feel like you’re racing along through the back country! I can’t wait to get it back so we can go out for a drive in it again, luckily 40 is the route back towards home...
