Nothin To Do With Trucks But Might Be Sign Of The Future
Tony Ingram posted a topic in Odds and Ends
Our great governor here in California just signed a bill to limit the amount of ammunition a person can purchase to 50 rounds per month. If you decide to take your kids out target shooting with say a .22 that means you'd better stock up for several months or you'll be driving back home pretty quick. The bill was never put out to the public only until it was signed by the "Terminator". This is pretty discouraging for us Californians who have a small crime issue to say the least. As a member of law enforcement I have a hard time believing that the criminals are going into to hunting stores, purchasing weapons and waiting the mandatory two weeks to receive them. Same with the ammunition, I don 't think too many of them are helping out our local business owner by buying the ammunition from the stores either. There are plenty of thugs selling this stuff out of the trunks of their cars to these gang bangers and the only people being hamstringed by this bill is the every day joe trying to protect his property and family. As a California native I know alot of people think we are a bunch of liberals but it's quite the opposite. There are alot of avid hunters that live here and alot of registered gun owners. Don't think that this kind of "big brother" handcuffing won't soon make it's way into your state. Gun owners need to band together and voice their opposition to this kind of stuff. There's already talk about limiting the amount of guns you can own here in the state so I wouldn't be surprised to see that in the near future. Like my dad always told me, the only way they're taking my gun from me is by prying it from my cold, dead hand! -
Should've left the bondo on it

Thanks for the reassurance. This is my first major project so it got me a little worried when I saw what I had to work with after the media blasting. I've been motoring along quite well throught the panel replacmeent so far. I've got almost everyhting done around the cab from the windshield and below. Next week I hope to start on the roof panels, top windshield valence and above the doors. Think those are going to be pretty tough but I'm getting better as I go. If and when it all gets done I'll be proud to say I did it all myself. I think that's half the fun even though it gets discouraging at times. The wife is done with me spending every free moment of time I have on it so I'm taking the family to Disneyland tomorrow. That should put me back in her good graces for awhile. I'm back on it today and I'm hoping to get some pics posted of the new, roughed in panels. Still alot of dollying and sanding but you'll get an idea. -
I said screw it and just converted my H-63 to 12 volt negative ground. I had too many problems with the series parallel switch. Got an alternator and started for a few hundred bucks. Now I can actually understand it.. I know Tom Gannaway has a wiring schematic on oldmacksrus.com if I remember right..

Looking For H-63 Fenders
Tony Ingram replied to Tony Ingram's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I'm on the hunt for a good metal guy here in town now. Should be able to find one. I thought it would be just as easy to make new ones rather than try to save the originals. They're pretty simple fenders. I'll see what the difference would be between new and repaired ones. Didn't think I'd have much luck finding any fenders anyway. Had a hard enough time finding this truck. I'm gonna try and post some pics of my body work progress in the next couple of days. It's crazy how different it's looking with new panels on even though they're just rough finished still. I'm getting excited, should be onto the upper door sill area and roof by next week sometime. I'm not letting any grass grow under my feet on this thing. Can't wait to tear out the floorpan, that will be a breeze compared to all of these curved panels... -
Is it just me or can nobody else look at their own or other member's photo galleries? Whenever I click on somebody's photo gallery or even mine, it says a fatal error has occurred and won't show any pics. I can look at pictures that are posted with new topics or the random gallery images but can't look at other member's personal photo galleries.Am I doing something wrong or what? I'm not very computer saavy so try and keep it simple please..

Well I still haven't posted any new pics of my sheetmetal progress on my H-63. I'll get to it pretty soon. Making good progress and it's turning out pretty good. I'm having to replace a ton of body panels but a donor cab wasn't really an option since there are none out here. My fenders are pretty much shot. Each fender has atleast three patch panel areas on them not including a bucket of bondo. Looks like someone got really pissed and beat the hell out of them with a ballpeen hammer. I don't think I can save them. Thought about just trying to make new ones but I'm going to give it a try and ask if anybody has or knows where I can get two fenders for my girl. Let me know please.

1957 B Model Mack Project Truck
Tony Ingram replied to Ironman's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
That truck is cherry compared to what I got myself into. All you have to do is see the potential. My friends thought I was crazy when I brought mine home, come to think of it I think I thought I was crazy especially after it was all stripped down. Close to half of my cab will have to have all new sheetmetal just to get started. Alot of the cab framework is rotted away so it has to be replaced and hopefully can get it back to the shape it was supposed to be. I'm learning you just have to be patient and jump right in, don't be afraid to learn new things. I'm doin all the sheetmetal work myself so when I'm done I'll know every square inch of the truck. That's half the fun though is fixin them up. Be sure to post pics of your progress, it helps me feel like I can get mine done some day.. -
