  1. It's nice to see these great trucks are appreciated everywhere, not just here in the U.S. I thought I'm having a hard time finding parts for my H-63, can't imagine what you have to go through to get stuff. Keep up the good work. I'm getting my cab media blasted today and going to start the sheetmetal repair next week. I'm going to post pics in my gallery of the progress.

  2. That's what was holding me up getting the cab off. My plan was to pull it off on Wednesday but got to go get my wisdom teeth pulled out instead so maybe Friday if I'm feeling better. Boy a cheeseburger and fries sounds so good right now.
  3. No I finally got it. Just had to tilt it forward, unbolt the steering box and it just slips down and forward through the grille area. Tight fit but better thatn lifting the cab up over the column. Atleast I know how to do that now, now if I just knew how to do everything else hmm...
  4. If yer ever looking to pull your column from your H model, take the three bolts loose from the steering box that bolts it to the lifter arms. Take the grille out and if you hold your nose just right you can slip it down through the floor and out the front grille area. Took me long enough to figure it out but now we know how it comes out.. The cab has to be in the tilted position to do it though.
  5. Hi all, well I've got my cab completely stripped inside and out on my H-63. One problem that I have is I can't figure out how to pull the column up through the floor so I can lift the cab off. The column goes down through the floor and into a steering box that mounts on the up/down cab lifter arms. There are four bolts that bolt the column to the steering box but there is a 8"x6" or so flange at the bottom of the column. It won't allow me to pull the column up through the floor. I can't see what holds the column to the flange, I'm assuming it's all one piece but that doesn't make much sense. I would have to lift the cab up high enough to go over the entire steering shaft so there's a trick that I don't know about, atleast I'm hoping. I've taken the steering wheel and bearing off already so the outer tube wobbles back and forth but still can't fit up through the floor. Even if it did, the steering shaft needs to come out also. Anybody ever taken one of these out? Don't know if it's similar to a B model or something else. HELP....I want to get this cab off so I can start my sheet metal replacement and get this show on the road, thanks Tony...
  6. It's great to hear, we need more of these trucks on the site. There is only three registered on here if I'm correct. Mine is pretty much stripped down to next to nothing now. I have some older pics of it and some that a few guys have sent me. It's hard to find any info on these H models, especially the H-63. I've seen a few H-67's for sale on here, I think there was one posted a few weeks ago down in Georgia. I'm in california and they're non-existent out here. They've changed this site and I'm re-learning how to go through it. I have some pics posted in my gallery if you can figure out how to check them out. I've posted atleast thirty or so but I can't figure out how to go through the pages to check them all out, that's changed too. I found a 57' H-63 cab in Denver for sale a few months ago. The thing was all there and in great shape, only $400. I called the guy and he told me he had crushed it two days earlier. That sucks cause mine has alot of rust issues. I have to replace all kinds of sheetmetal and the floor. I'm in the process of doing that right now. There is a guy in Ohio that has a complete running gear, moter running only missing the cab that he'll sell for 2,000 I think. Also vanscottbuilders on this site has a 56' H-63 that would be a good project. He was interested in selling it a few months ago. Thinking he wanted $2,500 for it and it was complete. Also go to bradsclassictrucks. He has an H-63 that's really rough for sale. He has some good pics on some H models he has restored. Go to youtube and punch in mack H-63. Brad restored a 54' H-63 and there is a short video of it, it's an awesome truck. Keep in touch and I'll try to hunt down some pics for you, go H models owners. Going to try to get an H model registry on here, we H model guys need to stick together. These were some of the rarest models and hardly any are still around. Only 4,091 H-63's were built from 54'-58' and a little over 6k H-67's.
  7. I started sanding on my H-63 and found a few surprises. Got the driver side fender and step off today. Try to get the passenger side off tomorrow and hopefully get the cab off next week. The real work will begin with cutting out and patching all of the rusted panels, wish me luck. Check out my gallery for the damage found, still can't get these darn pics to post on here.
